    Thats the one. Thanks Matt.

Andy – ‘cos I have a few bikes and forget/can’t be arsed to pack the right hanger each time I go out, so it’ll live in my emergency tool box.

I use Anquet – they’ve had some good deals on recently too.
    Prefer it to Memory map.

You usually have to register the software, so won;t be able to sell it on.

another yes from me too. part inflate first.
bit of a necessity as it is still hard finding them.
    works better than 700c ones.

kids chose the flowers, made cards & painted plant pots (with plants in), I ordered mug with pictures of kids on, got a load of new pictures printed.
my mum also stayed at our house, and got flowers, mags & film, home made card and i made 2 lots of breakfasts in bed. really surprised myself with that effort.

then went on a 8 hrs bike ride to readdress tge balance, while mrs sts visited her mum 🙂

they’re always about road riding, but
french revolutions is very funny. just reading his new (but non-cycling book too).
lance ‘its not about the bike’ was good – he is a little weird about his mum tho.
    ‘flying scotsman’ was very interesting.
just finished the cavendish book which I enjoyed (learning a bit about him & road riding).
    ‘roadie’ next

these & couple of others here http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/books.html

    ridden & rated (highly).
    got one on order 🙂
got to wait another 2 weeks though 🙁

got it especially for longer rides.
it makes most things easier (& therefore less fun though) so won’t use it on group, easier or short rides so much to be honest.

    get http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/In-around-The-Chilterns-A5-size.html
nearly 40 routes on os maps for just £10.95

todays rain won’t help but the henley ride it stonor rides are always pretty good though.
chilterns is a great place to ride for all abilities. the singletrack gets more technical the faster you ride. enjoy.

    thanks everyone.

Bugger looks like I’m going to have to go shopping – I only ever go into town once a year to do the Christmas shopping (easy to with a bike shop is at the end of my road):-)
Looks like I may have to break that 4yr run 🙁

Would easily go for the Ipad if it didn’t lock you into iTunes & Apple.

blimey there are loads are’t there – and no clear favourite.

Ar$e, I thought this was going to be easy 🙁

Any good websites that compare or reviews a range?

does anyone have the Cinelli bag?

If that folds down pretty small it’ll probably do – but when I spoke to Evans they say its a full size bike bag that folds down ‘quite’ small 😕

it doesn’t have to go unnoticed – you can take a bike on the train if it is in a bag as it becomes normal luggage, just pop the wheels off.

Done it a few times with a friends home made version.

GE Bodybag looks good – out of stock though 🙁

    perfect, thanks WEJ.

Not good in low light i.e. mountain biking 🙁
Maybe I just look after a dslr then.

great, sounds good. a tough camera suits me better than an expensive dslr.

how good are the pictures the pentax takes – would it be on par (or near enough) t) o the s95

edit – ah ok, thanks simon. hmmm

I gave up in the end 🙁

they insisted I took a picture of the ‘missing’ bit!
others have said service is ok, just very slow.

what about the Pentax Optio WG camera?

I’m only asking because I’m interested in getting one 😉
What do people think of it?

got a mech hanger (couldn’t get it locally) and it arrived in a whopping great big box. Annoying as it would have gone through the post box in a envelope. Waste of a tree or two as well.

ah, well that sounds like there isn’t too much in it (Hope are around 1700g without valves, tape, etc), so if the Giants are pretty solid as well I think I may stick.

hmm, yeah that’s what I was worried about really – not being able to sell them for much. Looks like that’ll be the case. Maybe I’ll just try them – has no one got/used any?

SatMap for me. Big, clear, easy to use screen.
Used the Garmin 800 but it is too fiddly and confusing for me. Not very intuitive to use.

    I use ’em too 😀

Mostly the same comments as people above i.e. side pockets are soooo useful and is very comfy. The 2.5 is my favourite – swallows plenty of kit including a Lezyne micro floor drive (mini track pump). I really don’t like using ‘normal’ backpacks now.

I think/thought the trouble with the zips was just with the earlier metal ones.

cheers. yeah just thinking it might be wise to sell them before I use them at all.

Haven’t really heard much about the Giant wheels, apart from they are a bit heavy and not a proper tubeless set up.

hmm ok, we are pretty well insulated. Looks like it might be an idea to go constant, especially as the kids are back home early most days.

I’ll keep myself warm by eating some humble pie too 😆

perfect, thanks I feel more confident about going ahead with it now.

I was being (too) nice & sympathetic before, but am just annoyed that they seem to be taking the pi$$ now.

    No more Mr Nice 😈

    thanks all, for links etc.

I sent a recorded letter (which threatened legal action) which got a response (telephone conversation). They don’t dispute they owe me money for the work I did, but have gone cold again and keep stalling and ignoring e-mails again.

They haven’t gone ahead with the project due to the economic state of the country (and theirs I guess) so they haven’t made any money from it, so are trying not to pay me (but it is nearly 3years now and still doesn’t look like they are going to do it, so I said I’ve had enough of waiting). I have a contract that states they still need to pay me regardless of if they did anything or not. In the region of £4,000.

Will send another official sounding letter (recorded) and then look into the SCC.

    Cheers
