Thanks. Also finding out about making it grow to 135mm now, with Argos racing fame builders.

bugger, the bike has a 130mm rear axle, so that has limited my options to erm, none that I know of.

Ah. I’ll want to run them tubeless on a cx bike…

the Boardman is usually a favourite around that price mark – do you not fancy that? Only experienced the Tricross from that list otherwise. It is a very nice bike though.

I know some people who have ‘a bit’ but not a whole tables worth too. Might be worth offering something like a drop in table perhaps?

There is plenty, but beware the wrong tracks are evil this time of year. Grims ditch up off the 2nd Wallingford roundabout on the left (part of the Ridgeway) is ace. This http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/In-around-The-Chilterns-A5-size.html will see you right. Loads of routes for all abilities.

same as many others, not a a leisure ride but always carried as an emergency (for myself or others), and yes for when doing big rides.

I really like the clif shot expresso ones. Its pretty thick’ish and gooey, but I much prefer them that way.

Take them before you feel dead if you can. The caffeine ones do help wake you from your slump pretty quickly though.

I’ve just got some Compete energy bites which should be tasty, not messy and work out cheaper. Similar contents with 45 calories and 135mg of caffeine, in mocha and chocolate flavours.

p.s. If you go with gels have something to pop the used (sticky) pack into afterwards as they ruin pockets and bags and no one likes a litter bug

oh I like the idea of the boxes, thanks.

Yeah there is lots that I just want to find a home for, to be used (and abused).

Lots here too, but not got a scooby how to price things :?

Wingnut here. Other packs just feel clumpy and annoying with the weight up around my shoulder blades now. That see are lots of other bags with great features and cost less, but I love the fact I don’t notice the Wingnut when riding.

    I’ll be there, selling.

Oh what the hell, probably buying too :-\

That’s the one. Sorry for the way late reply. For next time, I’d use the fire road as you don’t miss anything. The 2nd half of the trail from there to Porlock is great fun, rather than just a wide track.

hmm, so whats the best qualification to do in peoples opinion then?

I was hoping the article in STW was going to shed some light, but there wasn’t anything to definitive – but did say CTC if its your job.

If I was travelling any distance to go somewhere I’d prefer to be doing 2 things (jumble and ride) on the same day if the timings worked out well tbh.

    singletracksurfer

Yeah I think they do increase the price for commercial use as when I was looking before they said it fell in between a jumble sale and commercial. Its best not to mention bikes, just the jumble bit ;-)

E-mail me if you want then Paul. It could be a good way of spreading the risk as well as spreading the word. There always plenty of people willing to travel a fair distance to go to Swinley too.

I’ve been thinking of doing one in Reading, and was just about to post a thread to gauge interest myself. Split it!? Do it in Bracknell half way between the 2 (everyone can ride round Swinley after too). Let me know if you’re interested.

Village halls seem to be the way to go regarding costs i.e. way cheaper than anything else.

I think it might as well include road, kids and commuter bike bits too and it’ll help make it busier.

Anyone use Assos T FI.13 S5 Bib Shorts for mtb’ing?

    singletracksurfer
    Full Member

Hmm, thanks. I really want a pair of good shorts for long rides, and that look sans baggies.

Assos were on the list but not everyone rates the newer stuff too highly. Other options I’m considering are morvello or rapha. Any other recommendations?

Bugger, that’s a pity. Thought it would be the case, but wanted someone to tell me it’d all be alright :-(

    Thanks.

Shillet wood from Hawkcombe Head is superb and worth extending with a small climb half way down to join the bridleway to the north/left of the valley. Selworthy Beacon bridleway or cheeky footpath to the north, any descent off (but not west) off Dunkery Hill all rounded off with some exploring of the many trails in Horner Wood (its only semi-cheeky).

You won’t have to worry about mud too much around the Porlock area tbh, it’ll just be a bit soft in places on the moors.

Tricky to describe a ride. If you have a gps, rough ride guide have a load of gpx downloads for xc riding, for £2.

Aston Hill has just got new pump track :-)

got one too and love it. like the idea of the trailer on there too (might have to unpack mine).

there was some security on this year to keep an eye out, after last years bike theft, but I guess with 3,000 bikes coming and going… :-(

Changing Avid pads is a ‘mare at the best of times. I almost enjoy the first bike of the Downs Link, but then it does drag on. Chasing and weaving between riders helps.

Ah thanks crikey. That’s probably why. Noticed how they were on the nose of the saddles too.

Those chav’s on shiney full sus saracans riding through town are in the know then ;-)

    ‘near’

straight leg with heel on pedal I’ve been told. So small bend in the knee.

I think it just doesn’t look as straight as I imagined it would is what I was getting at.

Top day out and amazing variety of riders. Real shame about the rubbish left behind though. It was mentioned at the start, but obviously marginal gains and all that  I will mention it to the BHF as sure they’ll want to get it cleared up more than anyone.

You can mix n match the trails to avoid most of the double track and do most of the single tracks in one not to big ride. It was in MBUK a little while back, made up of the beast and the bull (if I remember correctly). do the beast with a couple of diversions, to the southern point then cross the road to join the tawr (bull).
