Hmm. I haven’t had much luck with ghetto tubeless… Ever.

How/if you know do the Kinesis compare with the iron cross?

Ah OK, interesting point as I sometimes (very rarely) put road tyres on.

Yeah was interested in kinesis but not heard much about them. Not sure how they compare with hope.

What did you go for then?

Thanks. Yeah that’s the build I was planning. Wondered if anyone had gone with crests and what they thought.

Ah yes, they slipped my mind momentarily.

Yeah wanted to try and get a ‘proper’ one from the UK if possible, non seem much better (higher capacity) though.

The latest Wingnuts are now being made in the USA. Would assume/hope that means higher quality.

Summit sixty five (has a 65 mile route option) and is an off road sportive. It’s in the Chilterns and has some great riding. Definitely a place best explored when signed too. 14th September near high Wycombe.

If you don’t know the route too well the BHF signs will help. As mentioned above also, riders to talk to and open gates etc, plus the extra food & water stops on the route could be handy.

It gets filthy, but not had any issues of it catching (when I ride with one there – not all the time).

You are much more likely to see people riding in the opposite direction than the same way of course, because they’re cycling the same way (as you’d have to catch them).

Anyway, a fair few of the trails can be ridden in either direction tbh, as nothing is too hilly or technical.

    Where abouts are you?

I did / was right actually, so nah nah nah

Also I don’t really care as long as it goes fast enough and I’m also not too bothered about the fuel consumption either… ‘cos I nick it from those gert posh (unattended) T5’s

    Thought it was the 125.

I’d wanted the 155 but this one is plenty. I went for the short (which is actually a medium) wheel base (as I usually only have 1 or 2 bikes in it and wanted to use it around town) but would probably go for 155 with the long.

Forgot to mention the turning circle is great.

Yeah they have the same engine size. I thought I’d got the ‘middle’ one. It’s not the lower one and it is the limited so may be the 155. Wondered why it was so pokey ;-)

The Mid engine (125?) Custom limited (the colour coded/matched one) with some optional extras, the ice (steering wheel with hundreds of buttons, cruise control, upgraded stereo, parking sensor, sat nav etc) pack.

I get 37mpg from my new Transit Custom and I don’t drive it gently. Its been doing quite a lot of crappy little stop start journeys too. STW did have the smaller engine size, which may be the reason for the lower mileage possibly.

I’ve found it MUCH quieter and nicer to drive than the T5, really nice interior, well thought out with lots of bottle holders, under seat storage, and other useful things like side lights and a heated windscreen (which didn’t know Ford had the patent on that). Hands free thingy is ace too.

Cons: Looks pretty nice apart from one certain angle. No speakers or air vents in the back and only slanty open windows. Nice and powerful but needs high revs than I’m used to in vans in 2nd gear which is annoying (and embarrassing sometimes  )

With the 6 seater and bulkhead, you can get a bike (29er full suss) in straight without taking any wheels off in the long wheel base.

As someone mentioned, you probably won’t have to pay list price.

Merlin sent me the wrong part, long story but it cost me a few £ to sort it and merlin weren’t very helpful (or bothered) by their mistake. Won’t be rushing to use them again.

Yeah around the stoner Valley is where I go when it’s wet, but lots of stuff is drying out well all over now.

Lots of great riding, see this..

My Mobi washer hasn’t been very reliable tbh – seals/washers are a poor fit, resulting in leakage and the motor has now died after 1 year and not much use. Can’t contact/get replies from Mobi about getting spares either. Got a dirt worker which seems much better (no battery pack though).

Guessing the (usual) Macclesfield Forest route isn’t going to be great either then is it? Any other route recommendations?

We decided to stop on day 2 when doing a C2C when my misses was preggers (3 months or so I believe), as she started to get bad pains. Shame as we’d all made the bookings, payments, plans etc and she felt bad for us, not hat we minded (too much) ;-)

I have an edge 200 I don’t use (as I got a satmap which I prefer for navigating).

Barely been used, got all the books, leads, mount, etc threw the box away though. Email me if interested.

Love my Wingnut Hyper 2.5 so comfy, low weight and out of the way, can swallow a fair bit if needed and the big hip pockets are great and can be accessed without taking the pack off which is sooo useful.

Never had any problems with howies cycling merino stuff. Not got any of their casual wear. Have had problems with other makes though.
