Shows on my ipad/iphone and also when using my youview box.

Think I also used to get the option when I was using my android phone although it’s been a few months since i swapped it out.

Not sure the Capra is right for this, although it’s a great bike*

Op, if you plan to keep the bike perhaps something with less travel or slightly steeper angles?

If you’re getting rid, perhaps one of those canyons with shapeshifter or similar geometry adjust bikes if you’re looking for a bit more response when it’s not so steep.

    *v happy Capra owner.

In any event, move to 650b the trail comes alive!

When I log into netflix I have to choose which profile to load, mine or a predefined kids one.

Haven’t used the kids option but presume It blocks horror and boobies.

Stayed at the stables b&b on the cwmdown list. Good and cheap with a pub 5 mins away. Pub is more hungry horse than good ale house but It could be worse.

    Cheers, will take a look.

Just realised I’d missed a big list of places on the bpw page. 🙄

What crank set have you got? My sram x0 comes loose (drive side) repeatedly and clicks when it’s loose.

Got a link for the sale? Been looking at these for a while but can’t bring myself to drop £90 on some 2FOs.

Tried a couple of Google searches but didn’t turn anything up, cheaper than normal.

Stayed at the butchers a couple of times now. Quirky bloke running it but good and cheap – last time I stayed it was £45 for bed, breakfast, dinner and beers. Can’t complain!

Brother in law uses it, there’s some random cover versions for some artists he listens to – similar to the ‘in the style of’ tracks that spotify has for artists which don’t appear on spotify.

I came away thinking its a bit crap.

FWIW, my opinion is only formed from a one time go, so YMMV

Using this combo on my bike. Also quite like the roam despite what I had read and been told beforehand. I tend to lean the bike in to turns quite hard so haven’t really encountered the vagueness that people talk about.

Looking at the roam isn’t too confidence inspiring, it’s pretty small and doesn’t have the most aggressive tread pattern but I ran at y Mynydd dh track without any problems. Was pretty rubbish in the slop at QECP but given tread depth I wasn’t surprised and a purgatory on the old bike suffered similarly.

Would I buy another? Probably for summer riding but I won’t be running it in the Alps later this year.

Are the new sections on loop one or two?

Have never been able to make my mind up about loop 2. Feels like it’s just there to add distance without being particularly interesting.

I paid using hifx. About 200 quid cheaper than using my bank As the rate is ‘live’ rather than the arbitrary one set by the bank.

Think I paid using a debit card and then hifx sent it onwards as a bank transfer.

No problems and money arrived within a couple of days.

Usually sixtapod to start. Nice and flowy with some good little doubles.

After that I might do the other blue or just head down one of the reds.

I was in halfords next to west quay the other day and they had a clearance voodoo hoodoo.

Never owned one but they’re frequently mentioned as a good cheap bike.

Might be worth a call to see if they’ve still got one in stock?

Could do the blade skipping the big loop once you’re at the top. I didn’t find that section v inspiring anyway.

Tbh, if you can work out a way to lap the final descent you’ll have much more fun!

Great blog posts, just what i needed before a day out at Cwmcarn tomorrow (come say hello if you see me, I’m one of the pair rolling around on white capras).

I’m starting to feel like I know what to expect now particularly in terms of miles covered.

Definitely going to try and get across to PDS with the return down the bourgoise trail.

Has anyone tackled the black down from Le Grande Platiers? Is it full body armour territory? What’s the ride back from Sixt like? is it uphill all the way?

Big thanks for all the info. Plenty to digest so glad that I’ve got the day off whilst waiting for some sofas to arrive.

The photo albums everyone’s posted make me really want to get out on the bike!

Jambalaya – Email received, thanks for the extra info, I’m sure it’ll come in really useful.

I’ve been looking at the bike-alp site, do they offer a guiding service separate to the chalet bookings? It doesn’t look like it but thought i’d check.

Is the chariande chairlift essential or does the grand massif express get you enough height for decent riding and access to the other resorts in the area?

    Thanks for the info guys.

I’ll try to find out who my mates use, it’s one of their mates, but i’m sure he has a web site.

If you could find their details that’d be great as I suspect we’ll want a guide for some of the days we’re there.

It was a family holiday and not a biking holiday

Mrs STS will be joining us for the trip and she doesn’t like bikes, what’s samoens village like? Is it quite quiet or is there stuff to do in town?

Also, we’ll be self catered and won’t have a car, is there a supermarket/shop in the village that has enough of a range for 9 days there?

Can anyone give me some pointers on how much ground we could expect to cover in a day? We’re reasonably fit, reasonable riders.

How many bikes are they trying to fit in?

    Seats up/down?

We get two in the back easily, a wagonwheeler and a long travel 27.5

Usually take the front wheel off to make them less unwieldy.

Where are you based? Ive got a halfords 3 bike carrier you could try for size.

Regarding the weird/small sizing…at 6’2″ would the large fit me or should stop lusting over this bike?

It might fit, although you might find it a bit short. It’s all down to preference. I don’t find my medium any shorter than the medium 07 stumpy I came off (with 55mm stem).

I measured up against my old frame to work out where it might feel different before I bought.

If you go to the pinkbike forum there’s a couple of people who’ve asked about sizing (in the last couple of days) who are 6’1. That might help?

traildog: So they all have cut down steerers/slammed stems? Despite everyone saying the world will end etc I like a higher stem so that would be an issue

Pinkbike users are suggesting having a higher rise bar. I think it ships with a 30mm rise fatbar and personally I think anything more than that will start to look a bit like a bmx.

Agree it’s a bit off to not give you the opportunity of adjusting by using spacers but on the plus side, it looks good out of the box.

FWIW, I removed the bar immediately and am on a 10mm rise sixc.

I’m not sure I agree with the pink bike thread about sizing up. While the TT is short, the actual reach is not that short and the front wheel is very out in front as it’s very slack. Also, with that 150mm dropper you don’t actually have too much adjustment of the seatpost unless you change that to a 125mm.

The pink bike thread seems to be a lot of people complaining that it’s not the bike they want it to be. It is what it is, other options are available if it isn’t what you want.

In terms of sizing, I also ignored the sizing up advice and I’m glad I went with the medium.

Having said that, I’m only 5’9″ and the Large fit fine (the dropper was full up and approx 15mm out the top of the seat tube) so you could size up as long as your legs aren’t unusually short.

My main worry was that going for a L would ultimately have left me with a bike which felt unwieldy at times.

Yep, good plan. They’ll be in touch in a couple of days and will knock some cash off the total.

WD also allow you to pay by 4 payments over first 3 months (interest free). Made my life easier…

Looking at one of those wear and tear exclusions earlier it says no claims within the first 3months will be covered.

That’s true. If it’s a new purchase you could be covered by the dealer warranty, assuming they do actually cover something.
