How will he go supersonic just by falling? surely when the air is that thin the speed of sound is much faster. I mean ok, that’s the outcome of the underlying physics. but surely the same compressibility characteristics which limit the speed of sound would also limit the speed at which the guy falls. No?
why not go to Lisdoonvarra – in Ireland, they ave a big single girl/woman shindig every year, good bike riding country as well, the competition is mainly old farmers, so you might get lucky
hmm, seems a little less than straight forward. The lack of password always concerns me too. Someone could steal / find my kindle order loads of books before i realise, then go off line and leave me with the bill!
Yeah, they need to be registered to my account, so i can buy the books for them. But I don’t want them to have access to my books, or the ability to buy books themselves
I think this has always been the case to a certain extent but the situation now, if it is true, represents the culmination of years of what I’ve always called ‘the cult of mediocrity’.
How would you create a mark scheme which accommodates and rewards novel answers and still ensures that markers all over the country would mark it in the same way?
I suspect there is a certain amount of truth that teaching to the exam is not the best way to teach a subject.
Well, that would very much depend on what the test was wouldn’t it. Teaching to the driving test works quite well.
who taught me how to avoid all this. Since then I have been impervious to marketing and advertising and am able to make informed choices about my needs.
maybe it was, but it worked. The sensei himself lives a very ascetic life in the far north.
…and it went beyond ‘not desiring’ it lead to being unaffected by it’s tentacles
Personally I am far more at peace with myself since I started stopped beating myself up about being single and alone. That’s the real trick if you ask me.
Much of the consumerism which leads to unhappiness is promoted by the media. TK Maxx or not, It’s all marketing hype which tricks lemmings into wanting things they didn’t even know about. I was once one of these people but I went on a retreat a few years back and studied with a sensei who taught me how to avoid all this. Since then I have been impervious to marketing and advertising and am able to make informed choices about my needs.
Well few teachers with some experience behind them are just ‘classroom teachers’, once a teacher has gained some experience they tend to take on some responsibility which boosts their salary. So, the word have been chosen carefully in the article.
Whut? Blinkered view of life? Me? Quite the opposite! Whilst others are saying ‘oh it will happen one day” or “if it’s meant to be it will happen” “one day you will find love” etc. I am opening the horizons! I am saying anything might happen! You might find love you might not. This isn’t blinkered, it’s the destiny-led thinking which is blinkered in its fatalism.
This is not true on a number of levels. There is no such thing as destiny. There is no such thing as ‘meant to be’ and even if there was, there is no force which makes sure that ‘it will be’.
