Use the tool to see where and which direction it’s out.

Then use the tool to straighten it.

I always use the valve as a reference point on the wheel to measure from.

Shimano interfere until you hit them with a file or a Dremel.

Same with the Sram adaptors on one of our bikes.

Couple of minutes with a file to get them both to fit.

Look at the ruts you left getting your bike there.

You should see the damage I can cause when I’m actually riding it.

I usually don’t take the soil more than a few miles away though and make up for it by bringing the same amount back from other places in the valley.

Sun was out this morning so as soon as the frost was gone I headed out for another Golfie ride.

Bloody lovely out there this morning in the cold  having the sun on my back on the climb.

Here’s two weapons of mass erosion in the valley.

I wander which one causes the most damage.

I remember a few accounts that several people knew the password for.

Oh what fun we they had.

Well no, not if you don’t want it absolutely straight I suppose.

It’s still perfectly possible to get it straight with a lot more play than 3mm.

It’s just slightly more awkward than with no play.

    @z1ppy

That’s shit mate but very much in line with the way I was treated.

Just keep on at them and maybe ask for a second opinion at a different hospital.

That seemed to spur them into a bit more action in my case.

On the positive side once they had agreed it needed a plate they got me in pretty quickly.

    Gotta love this forum.

OP: I want a derailleur tool but can’t justify £72.

First response: Get a £200 one

And also recommendations for a really good tool for 12 quid.

    Have you tried snorting it?

Did all your mates think you were a dickhead despite you have a great time?

Were the wheels it came out of off a Delorian?

Can you post it to me?

A mate has bent his Rimpact chain damper already.

Not sure if it was a pre production one or the finished product.

I had a cheapo off Amazon from a few years ago.

Worked OK but had a load of play in it. You just had to take the play out when setting the distance arm.

I now have one of these.

Cost less money and is much easier to use.

No play in it and packs down smaller which was the reason I bought it as it’s lighter in the bike bag for flights.

A mate tried the Leatt shoe up there and said the grip from the sole was terrible.

Have you considered trying Crank Bros?

I think he just wants his shoe to detach from the pedal.

Not the pedal from the crank.

FiveTen Trailcross GTX are indeed very narrow.

I had to go up a size and a half then use a shoe stretcher to get them to fit.

I tried some of these last year.

    https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en/vaude-am-moab-mid-winter-stx-road-shoes/139980279/p?utm_source=google_products&utm_medium=merchant&id_producte=139931276&country=uk&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsJO4BhDoARIsADDv4vBnyJ6y7gGPYNPLV60U1p89jVkr4yYLz–pj_QYFOmsbtgRVwKfWCAaAq79EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Very waterproof, very warm, grip as good as a fiveten sole, good stiffness to the feel of the sole, wide enough to fit my feet in my normal size.

But some of the detailing became unstuck after a few rides. I sent them back and they repaired them but that was towards the end of last winter and they’ve not been worn since.

The next few weeks should see how well they last as I’ll be using them again soon.

Impressed with them other that the small fault that was hopefully a minor issue.

I stopped reacting to bellends like this after having a roll around on the floor with a driver who threatened to put my light out with a hammer.

No one came away from that one looking good.

Either report it or just let it go.

Sniper is very much brown fun but a step too far for me if it’s wet.

stone belongs on the dyke beside it.

I’ve been waiting for the first smartarse to post this.

The stone came from out of the ground under the trees not from the wall.

Maybe you can pop along and tarmac the whole lot for us.

Failing that I’ll dig more stone and continue filling as and when needed.

Sun is still out in the valley so making the most of it.

Another ride with no bike washing required.

Feed The Pony pushup track is so different with no trees.

It’s opened up a great view of the valley.

Spent half an hour today repairing one of our local trails.

Filled in a hole that was developing and re built a corner that was falling down the hill where folks can’t make the turn after a rock slab.

I’ve just tied a half ender in the middle of a bungee cord and suspended it in the front triangle to test this.

    Tried this out today.

Even after adjusting it to the correct calories per beer I’m going to have to up my drinking game.

Pretty easy ride with less than 1000 meters climbing.

    a bottle rivnut!

    Similar here.

Not a rivnut as the thread is direct in to a large alloy casting but still bottle cage related.

Before I located it I changed.

    Headset bearings and wedge.

    Full headset.

    Frame bearings.

    Frame bearings re fitted twice.

    BB.

    Crank.

    Wheel bearings.

    Fork.

    Shock.

Removed, cleaned and re fitted to correct torque.

    Pedals.

    Gear hanger.

Seatpost, saddle rails  and seatpost clamp.

    Rear mech.

    Frame geometry mutators.

    Cable clamps.

Basically every component on or bolted to the frame.

I only removed the bottle cage as it was the one  thing that hadn’t been checked. There’s no way a bottle cage can be responsible for a death creak like that though right…

Straight away I could see fret marks on the cage plate and frame mount.

One small fibre washer that was  laying around on the work bench fixed it.

A fair chunk of time and money to sort that one.

    No idea.

The trail is covered in large square loose rock on top of bedrock though.

Thought it was just a sidewall tear at first but it’s actually a snake bite.

Also smashed the valve out of the rim later on in the week too.

That was defo a flying rock.

One thing i have noticed with inserts is  sometimes they seem to stop the sealant getting to any small cuts in time to seal them up.

That hole for example didn’t actually blow any sealant out despite a measure and a half of Stans in the tyre.

Just for balance here I’ve had multiple warranty claims with Spech where they’ve gone above and beyond what i would have expected.

One being their main Ebike guy driving all the way from Wrexham to up here in the Borders  to try and sort a problem out.

Another being replacing a stock rear wheel with a  Hope Pro5  wheel in a couple of days.

All this through a shop that’s 250 miles away from me but is treated as an LBS.

I have no dought that this was mainly due to the actions of the shop, the way they treat their customers and also the very close relationship they have with Spech.

Not all shops are as good.
