If it fits (they only make one size in 29″) the OSBikes.com Blackbuck is a lovely frame and the handling with the specific rigid forks or suspension forks is great (I have SC32’s on mine now)

$500 for the frame, $60 for the forks IIRC.

You can be arrested for being drunk in charge of a bicycle and have points on your licence (if you have one) Nothing on the statute books for speeding on a bike, only “cycling furiously” :)

Very nice looking bike, Steve does some nice work. Good to see the dropped toptube a la older Rocky Mtns, it makes sense on 29ers to help with nut room!

Looks great weather, somewhat better than the last trip to Welshland I took! With all those dry trails how did you find that muddy hole? Did you lace your spokes into some sort of puddle divining pattern? :)

    Same plan next weekend?

Well it costs more and they send you a nice picy to remind you.

So get rid of the plastic-pigs (comunity support officers) and hire some real police with real powers. Being booked by a little-Hitler in a smart car / photobooth combo is not the answer*

I think the bearings will go before the body.

Yep, old Hope hubs were never a problem (back in the mid-late 90’s when it was steel, steel or steel!) and I have had no issues with Shimano freehub bodies being damaged by narrow singlespeed cogs.

Whats wrong with just having a police officer pull you over and tell you what you were doing wrong / and give a ticket….you know like they used to? I think that would have more effect on people driving than a letter 2 weeks later when you probably can’t remember WTF you were doing a week last Thursday.

Also in that time you’d probably need to replace the freehub bearings, prawls etc which come with a new body

I would replace it with a steel freehub body as a few gramms won’t make a whole lot of difference if you are heavy enough to trash an alloy one…lets you fit cheaper cassettes too :)

£30? Try Agent Provocateur for some really pricy (but nice!) stuff. A trip into the store in Selfridges Bullring is worth it! Wifes wedding undies cost more than my last frame!

Are you a bit constipated? Maybe try eating a bit more fruit.

Wasn’t it eating fruit that started the whole sin thing off? :)

No one has applied Occam’s razor to the argument…or RudeBoys throat which is amazing.

Considering the governments record in keeping secrets / cover-ups I think something might have leaked a while ago and NOT just some nut-job vids on youtube.

Oh and if the Lizard People / Illuminate are running the world WTF did they pick this bunch of loosers for world leaders?

I will be there on the Solitude drop-bar 29er and CDW frame-bag (niche kite)

Becca will be on her Solly 29er with Thudbuster post.

Conti Twister 42c and Schwalbe LandCruiser 40c will be the tyres of choice, plenty of tarmac so a little rain won’t hurt.

Apparently, many people now want to leave the area, but are being prevented from doin so.

So they turned up to protest then what? They changed their mind? Wanted a lunch break? Have to pick up the kids from school?

Do or do not, there is no try.

Phil Greening the rugby player was the year above me at Chosen Hill School. Quite a few rugby players from there went on to play for the cherry+whites (GLOSSSSTERRRRRRRR!)

    I was cr@p at rugby :(

I have just changed to M+S. Countrywide renewal was almost £1k for a year and bikes had to be listed. When I rang them they said they could do it for £399 which was still £50 more than M+S with all the extras (acidental cover, away from home cover, etc.)

£349 for unlimited contents and buildings cover, 3 bed 1850’s house in a less than nice bit of Cheltenham. Any bikes under £4k (ie all of ours!) are covered automatically.

I’ll probably be on the Solly drop-bar 29er fixed dinglespeed running 700×40 Schwalbe Land Cruisers. Becca will be on the Solly 29er with Conti Twister 42c tyres.

    Can’t wait :)

I have a Thudbuster ST, the wife has just fitted a LT (after borrowing mine for a month and signing up to MM 24hr solo!)

I have used the USE and Post Modern ones in the past and found them to have too much stiction and not enough travel.

Not the cheapest bits of kit but very well made and easy to set up and service.

Yep, singlespeed since 1997 and s/s only since 2004 (when I sold my Mav ML7 – “IT”)

OS Bikes Blacbuck singlespeed (Mav SC32, Juicy7’s, 32:20)
    Solitude 29er fixed gear drop-bar monster 34/36 – 18/20 dinglespeed

The only thing that hold me back are my crap skills and fitness, not the bike!

Hmmm, I did laugh twice as much this week as last week. ie twice.

Some funny stuff but as has been said, dragged out and no real punch-line or new observation to make you chuckle.

    Shame really.

IIRC the BS 6102 for bikes sets the tollerance for rim brake wheels at +/-2mm side-to-side and +/-4mm up-and-down. +/-4mm side-to-side on disc wheels :(

Even with out dial gauges you should be able to get below +/-0.5mm easily, make sure you have a white backdround behind the wheel and squint a bit :)

    Whats happened to Solitude cycles?

Alex got busy at (real) work and was training for a 9day race in India and Lee who built the frames was stacked out with other work.

I have won the on the premium bonds too…and sustained whiplash by getting my helmet caught in a branch on some singletrack…no crash involved, and definately the helmets fault.

Remember helmets are for falls of 1m and less than 12mph with the weight of a human head in them. I am 1.8m tall, travel more than 12mph and weigh quite a bit more than my head. Energy = square of velocity. Helmets still have to obey physics.

    Remember the rule:

“If more than one person knows it, it’s not a secret”

Governments are cr@p at cover-ups and keeping secrets (or even laptops!) so how long do you think that “UFO Secrets” would have stayed secret?

    Exactly.

perhaps the amateurs should n’t bother if they can’t provide any customer service

Perhaps some sort of c0ck filter on the website? I would love one on the shop front door that senses CTC members :)

wouldnt surpise me if all the ones who got jipped, never see the refund…………..

Now thats slander and really not on. Have you got any proof of this? Are you trying to damage their business? Thats the sort of thing that gets threads pulled.

So they made a mistake, you didn’t get a saddle cheap and they are sending your money back. No one died, lets get some perspective on this FFS.

If this has really disapointed you and made you angry perhaps you shoule re-evaluate your values a little.
