I would ride down glen Lichd again given the chance, possibly one of the best days/mornings biking I have had in scotland. is it not possible after the bealach na sroine to head east to Alltbeithe? Seems more sense than descending all the way to sea level and then riding back up to the hostel next day?
    Just a thought.

Steel frames… How much do you want to spend? Colnago master £1800? or something else? If you want retro, i am very pleased with my singular osprey and they are cheaper at the moment. Or try all city cycles mR. Pink. It looks pretty good too.

My wee sis had a few.
    Ambliance- Ambulance
    matatoo- Tomato
    Muloo-Milk
Also she has previously signed a card ‘lost of love’ which still gets used regularly.

Nae bad, and ‘I’m not as hungry as I was’ both mean – that was an excellent meal, thank you.

Chorizo butter bean and tomato stew. Can add potatoes for bulk into the cooking pot or serve with bread and salad.
Something similar can be made with pork belly, haricot beans, cider and onions and garlic. And herbs. Again serve with bread and salad.

Edit. neglected to read all the above posts, in particular rob’s 🙂

Was thinking 105 shifters, and tiagra mechs/derailleurs. Can probably get the shifting and brakeing for under £300 and then use an old square taper bb and a stronglight crank for a retro look.

devs I know that holburn cycles in aberdeen were trying to get me to order some as it might be cheaper it was cheaper if they ordered a few sets. Might be worth giving them a ring.

Clink, did you not liek the jones or was it just not right for the riding you do. I quite like the look of the ordinary forked steel frame. And would welcome some owners thoughts.

I used to work as a tour guide in a distillery. We used to get some intersting questions. Generally though not exclusively from american buds parties.
AFTER explaing how we make alcohol by brewing the wort and then distill th wash to make new spirit i have variously been asked:

So… when do you add the alcohol?
When do you put the shortbread in?

And slightly bizarrely, when do you add the carrots, you know for colour?!

An otherwise very intelligent girl I used to go to school with once asked,
‘Do shetland ponies have to migrate home to Shetland to breed?’

She also belived that thistles stopeed at the border with England for a time and that speed limits at roadworks didn’t apply on sundays as there was no-one working.

They are fine provided you follow the washing instructions. Mine did not like a 50degree wash. oops.

I think that the 1″ threadless sets are the same as 1 1/8″ to fit/setup.
Look at on-one 3ttt make some 1″ ahead stems.
Why have you decided not to go for a threaded fork headset?

Wheels are in fact for a road bike though I want non aero, traditional style wheels. Can probably affor either set but have been thinking of a hub dynamo fro the bike in the future. So don’t want to have a nice front wheel lying around doing nothing.

No, I leave my tyres on my bike where they are most useful. 🙂

Hold on a second. Did I read this right?

As an aside, a drink which sounds revolting but is actually rather tasty is a Buckfast milkshake. 50% Buckie and 50% milk – genuinely tastes yum

    Really?

Are you sure? I have never drunk buckfast due to an encounter with a friend who had been drinking it. He emerged from the pub cubicle ashen faced, wiping spew from his mouth and then washed his hands. Turned to me and said never drink buckfast. and then stumbled off to the cubicle and started voming again. I never have.
    My nemesis is vodka.
And jack daniels. Mainly because if I find myself drinking jack, (and there is only one pub where I would find myself doing this and one group of friends) I know that the night has somehow gone very very wrong and nothing I can do will save me.

This has caught my eye, particularly if a singlespeed/alfine version was available. Also liking the look of that genesis 29er.

I don’t wear team kit but don’t have a problem with it. Someone wearing a full euskatel team kit is no diffferent than going to a match with a replic ashirt on or turning up to a five a side game in full (Insert your favoutite team here) strip.

What get’s my goat is ever increasing price rises in return for kit which will not last any longer than what went previously. I am not prepared to pay for 10 speed kit when nine speed seems to be a good compromise between longevity and price. Particularly with regards to road kit.

also do you need such low gears on your bike. How a bout you just harden the fӣ$ up.

Caveat: I have been consuming beverages of an alcoholic nature so excuse me if tis makes no sense.

If they are a bit newer they are more expensive i think. There is a stretch between tour and the normandie coast, not hugely long but 53Euro!

Was not hapy when we got to the toll gate but definitely explains why ther was little traffic on that bit of road.

The bit from drumnadrochit to inverness has some step climbs that I imagine would be doable if you’ve got the legs. (Going west to east.) It does have some switch back bits but i might be remembering wrong. Give it a go.. seriously whats the worst that could happen?

    😀
