Well the ones that work the best for me are:

    Craft Performance Shorts
    Link
    Altura Progel
    Link
    Morvelo
    Link

All pads work as well as each other but the finish and comfort on the craft and Morvelo are excellent and worth paying the extra for. but the alturas are a bargain.

It would be worth buying/trying on a few pairs to see fit. I’ve found a few brands where the pad wasn’t in the right place for me etc

You’ll need to check the clearance of the crank arms on the chainstays so they don’t foul. This is the main reason mtb cranks have a greater Q factor than road bikes.

If thats ok, can you move the chainring to the outer position to keep the chainline similar?

I can see both sides of this,

OP is worried as if anything goes wrong he doesn’t have the backup of a credit card.

Canyon – probably don’t have any means of accepting random amounts of money via a credit card so ask for it to be paid direct which is common place in Germany.

At the end of the day the bike was bought from abroad and you’ll have to put up with how they deal out there.

Last year only the “new” sections where a slop feast the rest was fine and hard pack.

This year is a much better looking route round and the organizers have had more time to build and prepare the course.

I helped a friend in a similar situation recently.

We found that the closer you got to £2k and above the saving on a previous years model from some of the online retailers gave you a better saving than a current years model on cycle to work with a top-up. (based on his salary)

He picked up a stumpy fsr on a 0% credit card with a great saving.

It would be worth looking at a few bikes he likes, do a spreadsheet of components etc and working out the best value bike, then go with what ever works the best regardless of if ites with Evans or elsewhere on finance/CCard

There is as much a chance this is fishers/the distributors fault as much as planet x.

I’ve sent the same item twice on couple of occasions to suppliers for them to go back on their word. Could be the warranty guy missing it or just a gesture of goodwill.

    Also boxxers on a 456???

    Cheers,

The plan is for one night rides.

No mess meal on the evening, so the pot is fine for next day to cook another meal.

I’ll be trying one at home before going out onto the hills.

I wouldn’t buy anything of anyone who thinks its a good idea to replace a shock with Ti rods,

It might work but shows he’s into bodging.

Sanctions – great idea for a country where half the population are already starving!

Sanctions wouldn’t really affect the poor, the foreign aid would still get through. Sanctions on the rich and people with power are whats needed as these are the people who make the decisions.

The only reason this story has got to the media is her husband is a US citizen. Hundreds if not thousands of people in Africa are in the same situation, sat on death row for being gay/wrong religion etc.

Where does the intervention stop just her or do we keep going and end up running the countries for them? I do feel sorry for people in these situations but really what can we actually do, we have limited resources in cleansing the world of barbaric acts.

Africa is developing and doing well at it, but it is still generations behind us. We need to consider that when comparing actions with our world and it wasn’t long a go when you be locked up for being gay or even earlier burned for being a witch and not accepting Christianity.

When i first signed up to strava, I spent the first ride charging through segments.

Then i got bored and just record all my rides for total mileage. The only thing I try and achieve is a 100 mile a week average, not fussed about anything else now.

I use my phone for less than 5 miles and GPS for further, I’ve found logging the little rides to the shops encourages me to use my bike rather than a car.

I think that was specifically referring to Yorkshire Hels

You can’t have been to Yorkshire Binners, Phones just don’t work here and my stream flushes itself nicely thanks.

In the experience I have of cycle paths like this, You ride your bike on the side with a picture of people of walking and the mothers with children walk on the side with the bike.

Chamonix – Job in a bar – Ride all day – work evenings.

You’ll earn similar to working in a shop and have more time to ride during the day.

The only reason i can see for non seriously competitive cyclists not to use MTB pedals on Road bikes is fashion.

I use good quality MTB shoes on all my bikes with SPD’s and always will now.

Standards have always been changing quickly, they will never slow down either.

When and why did Shimano ditch Allen head chain ring bolts for Torx? That took me by surprise when I got some new slx cranks the other day.

    Torx bolts are better.

Less chance of the ham fisted rounding them
More surface area to spread load
    More torque

Source me all the parts from a list I give them (while pricematching the cheapest place on the internet) then build said parts into a fully working bike.

They should be glad of my business.

    That isn’t good business

Trail-rat haven’t cotic dropped that fork now and gone with a through axle fork? (Admittedly only 9/10mm but still through)

A guy i ride with has that fork. Its a nice idea, as in it takes any normal front hub. But is a ball ache completly undoing the qr axle into two bits (not including springs) and bending the fork to get the wheel out.

and then rescinded it with a ‘watch this space’, ‘for further review’ statement…

This is UCI, British Cycling banned cameras.

The rule has been in for years that only essential equipment for racing is allowed. The have just clarified it for cameras.

I thought this, but Manon Carpenter was wearing one in Cairns… have they backtracked?

Was it a British Cycling Event?

A person with class would not use the N word.

    Disgusting.

Like many on here have used it,

Stw haven’t got it in the swear filter. Does that mean they are racist and feel comfortable with that word?

I’m not a fan of his and don’t have intentions of watching top gear. Nothing to do with any of his rants about cycling etc I just don’t enjoy TV program’s he’s on.

I really do think its a slap on the wrist incident. Had he referred to someone on live tv/social media as a N-word then fair enough.

I thought Merlin et al could sell OEM cheap because they built bikes so bought the parts in OEM from suppliers to fit to their bikes, then flogged off what was left over*

Surely the other frame manufacturers mentioned above could do the same?

Yes they can, but OEM and Grey imports aren’t the same.

One has come through official channels the other hasn’t.
Cotic vs merlin is more about economies of scale.

Merlin could only be making a few quid on those groupsets but the stack em high sell cheap method is working well for them.

There is a good chance Cotic can’t buy as many groupsets as merlin and don’t see it as cost effective to match them.

Depends what bike its on. By the sounds of it being a hardtail its an xc bike so yes needed.

No bottle cages on a frame would be deal breaker for me.

Or you could just forget they are there if your not going to use them.

People in my village campaigned to have the yorkshire air ambulance moved from our local airfield due to noise disruption.

Baffles me when i see things like this and the school above.
