Well our Scotsman has a higher chance of winning anything than your Englishmen do.

    Lol What Englishmen?

I hope he does well, I used to hate but think he has mellowed (slightly) I just get annoyed with his interveiw scratchin, Ear, ear, nose, ear, nose, nose, ear, ear. Guy obviously has no balls.

I'd rather ride in the south that anywhere in the Netherlands, Ireland, Northern Ireland and plenty of other places, so don't think any of us have got it that bad really.

Unless you live in London of course and ride the likes of Redbridge

I agree with TJ 2006 is a long time,

it won't hurt to take it to a cannondale dealer and ask them, if not it'll prob cost £50 to fix, which if you like the frame isn't that much,

How long have you had it,

More than likely a couple of days the shop may help you out if not prob nowt, Read you manual, BB's are usually classed as a consumable items

Northern riding is OK, sure there are the occasional nicely techy descents, but you can keep they endlessly dull shite moorland double-track thanks…

We will keep our hundreds of miles of bridleways, double tracks and single tracks cheers, Sorry its hard to navigate the stunning country side,

Oh btw we built a few trail centres up here for those who choose to follow one trail and not need a map. Some people at the UCI seem to think its good enough for the World cup, get in.

    I'll be doing it,

I've done a few both crc ones and when Merida did them, they are usually very well sign posted, a few marshalls about at sections where dif distances split. So very easy to follow,

There has always been hundreds doing them along with the number plates so you'll see someone to follow,

I don't live to far away and unless we get some tropical down pour it will be very dry, Unlikely to cause any brake pad issues.

I'm doing the 50k with a couple of others if anyone wants to tag along.

Start selling ragleys, on-ones, bikes with big wheels and single speed and i'm sure you'll get the right crowd.

But seriously the people who go to your shop maybe aren't singletrack types.

I bought an SLX as it was the only one my LBS (took some convincing at first) had in stock and its ace, can't justify paying the extra for XT now.

A really good covering letter will get you in most bike shops, write about your experiences, how much you like bikes then big yourself up, that along with a clear honest CV will be fine, Everyone starts somewhere usually they will state if they need an "experienced" mechanic.

Hand it in person to the Manager/Owner and say how much you want the job and already know the shop well.

I've advertised jobs for shops i've worked in and you'd be surprised how many CV's turned up with no covering letters (mainly all A grade school qualifactions). They go in the bin after getting a letter from me saying "no sorry".

You can buy these spiral/screw thingies to anchor you dog to, I use two of them in the ground, a D-lock through both (to stop them being pulled out) and then through my frame.

They are light enough to stick in my panniers when doing a long haul.

I'm pretty sure you'd need receipt/proof of purchase for a warranty. Not sure the warranty card is worth anything without them,

Maybe ring the retailer and say you have a frame thats bust and ask what you need to bring in.

Kick up a fuss, If its a certain online retailer with lots of stores you'll get something out of it. In most cases the regular staff with try and put you off but go straight to their customer services. I've known the green and yellow brands customer service to give vouchers to a customer who DIDN'T buy the BB that was faulty from them!

May take a few letters or calls but you've got rights. Take it to the top.

i have little/no sympathy for a struggling shop that only opens 9-5.

seriously, why do any shops open at 9 and close at 5? i've never understood this.

open from 12noon till 8pm (early closing for evening rides on a wednesday / sunday or something…)

Their is sense in the late opening to catch people on their way home from work, but the real money is made in the mornings, eg opening before 9 so people can drop off their bikes or commuters on their way to work and pick it up after.

park cable cutters are the best investment i've ever made. Along with long armed chain breakers, look after them and they'll last forever.
