Good on you for doing all this but shame on je James for leaving customet bikes by an open fire escape

Have you read the thread? It was a staff members bike near a closed fire escape and the thief went through the shop into a staff area.

Braking bumps will never go away, you get them with motocross as well as mtb. They appear anywhere where on average people brake.

Well worth going, I think its a must see event. I've been almost every year expect this one, (got priority through my old tennis club) I've always had a great time even when i've spent the whole day on Henman hill.

If you don't like it don't go again.

Yes a hellicoil is a suitable fix, but new lower legs would be the honest option esp from a bike shop. But thats only half the problem its the service from the shop thats not good.

I'd be a bit pissed that my bike that i'd paid £2.5k for was damaged by some hamfisted mechanic.

If the shop where trying to wash their hands of it, which it sounds like i'd go get advice elsewhere and take i further.

Trading standards or citizens advice would be the best place to try,

Are they part of a chain by any chance?

So its the guy in green that took the bike?

Did he spend any time with the other two?

chainline is only an issue for non dérailleur bikes i.e. single speed of hub gear

    Really?

I've know loads of problems with chainline on geared bikes, ie smallest to smallest.

If its riding that makes you happy, any bike will do.

I very reluctantly had to sell an IndyFab a year or go. I now ride an inbred which is no way near the same league of bike, But i still spend all week looking forward to my next ride and smiling all the way round the trail.

When i worked at Evans we had a Genius nicked in a similar way, Team of 3, two guys in smart clothes who do the research, distract staff etc. Then a chav who they have found one the street give him £50 to nick the bike and meet em round the corner.

    Apartently happens quite a bit.

    Hope you get sorted.

A mate of mine tried it, I used his wheels for a ride and didn't notice anything over 26"

That plus the task of sourcing rims and tyres put me off.

I was in the same situation when i moved in. Got seriously fed up with BT and went with Virgin, (cable TV, Phone, mobile phone and Tinernet)

Really pleased, find they are easy to get hold of and pretty good deal with uber fast broadband.

I once got a bollocking of a guy because i was riding with a few mates near ambleside last year on one of the evans "ride it" days without paying. I lived near by at the time and didn't feel i needed to pay for my local trails, (i didn't ride the whole route and had forgotten it was on)

I do feel its good manners to put a couple of quid in a bucket somewhere though if its for charity. Especially if you are tagging along with people who have paid.

But if you are only crossing paths and are getting on with your on agenda then don't pay.

Look up Sutton Bank, and Boltby area. About 30mins north of York and about 20-30mins from Ripon. Good riding around the Cleveland way. Good decent through Boltby and Another on Black Hambleton. Plus a tech one at Sheepwash near Osmotherley. You could do a good 2 hour loop there.

Boltby is where the original Pace trails are. Still there.
