Is it to late to try out for the team. lol that coures looks shit no way a world class standered course!!!!!!

what a shit example of a course to push mountain biking in the uk!

far far far better trail centres out there!

theres a big diffence between Racing and trail centreing.

The course was built just like anyother top xc course, dalby for example. Two or three technical sectiosn, climbs and the rest flat out racing.

I’ve found the reverse shep. Shops quote 5-7 days, online is usually next day free delivery

Most suppliers offers next day if ordered before 2pm so if they quote that and have no good reason to say otherwise then walk away.

Overheads is the reason shops don’t carry loads of stock.

Most mail order giants Wiggle for example carryvery little stock. When you order it, they order it, hense the available in 3-4 days.

Most shops will be able to get parts next day.

I think if they cut their loses and do you a deal then fair enough, But not to even try. No wonder you went elsewhere.

Did you ask if they’d come near the price of CR?

Out of the box Mavic ksyriums are very good and strong.

I’ve used Strada wheels a couple of times and got excellent quality at a good price.

This thread is ace, I can see points from both side.

IMHO i’d strip it and sell seperate. A LOT more money in parts than complete bike, I’d be intereseted in the chainset and the seatpost as prop for my washing line but not the whole bike.

Singlespeeding is as fun and as hard as you make it.

For the sake of a £20 conversion kit with a chain tensioner, cog and spacers. Give it a ago

I have seen the Trool of the week has given my earlier posts a bit of abuse and I see no reason in arguing OR SHOUTING!!!

I feel ramblers and walkers near me (generally older folk) expect a cyclist to ride with a bell. It may not be the same with more modern walkers, but in a day and age where we all share the countryside i will show fellow people on the trails the same respect I would like them to show me.

A bell from a distance, then a polite nod or thank you, Possibly a chat if there is an opportunity.

    Singlespeed_Shep

[/b]No it doesn’t! There is no requirement for a cyclist to have a bell.

Its recommended though under the highway code. I would say its worth it if you constantly find your self receiving hassle from walkers for startling them.

I have never heard so much rubbish in all my life, do not even consider getting a bell. At a reasonable distance from the walker (depending on how fast you are going) you simply say loudly “coming past”. A bell! never heard so much rubbish. Most cyclist have a limited amount of space on there handle bars anyway. Now I have no doubt you all are car drivers unlike me if you are driving a long a rural road you should not assume that a pedestrian has heard you coming you should give a short beep to let then know you are coming past it is very easy for them to walk into your path. Note a short beep not a long one as that is statement to get out of the way.

I would if they where in the midlle of the road like the Rambler is with a bike, Plus my bike doesn’t make as much noise as my car. 😆

Because when you do that you startle people and are in teh wrong.

Rubbish, in what way would that be wrong?

People are less likely to jump if you ride up behing them and then speak, a bell from a distance gives them more opportunity to shift.

A Labour MP got chucked out for fibbing in his election campaign- why shouldn’t Clegg et al get chucked out too?

They didn’t “Win” the election so they can’t have all their policies.

    Yup Singlespeed.

Going up Black Hambleton is a push for me most of the time. But passable for the fitest or with gears (probally not at the mo)

Its stunning across the top, Such lovely views, Especially around dusk.

Great Ayton its self and the tops around have about 18″ min, Hard Packed. Haven’t been to Roseberry topping, But up the Incline towards Cleveland way aren’t that bad. Didn’t go to far as it was -10 and the incline hurt.

Sutton Bank ride is alot more passable.

Visitors centre – bridleway over boltby rugg to sneck yate bank – High paradise farm – over the top towards top of kepwick – black hambleton – chequers – down rocks to sheepwash – osmotherley – pub – then repeat other way round back to visitors centre.

Haven’t had any reports in the shop about Hamsterley which is unusual. but no idea what conditions are like. Not many of the the roads are ideal driving conditions.

I have to Agree with TJ that its your fault, And unless you have dealt with Giant direct you can’t say they “suck”.

    Have you contacted Giant?

I’ve done a couple of Giants through their Crash replcement scheme. Usually very good and helpful.

When you say the colours won’t match is that your components that don’t match? Was the frame at full RRP?

Its very unlikely they’d have the exact frame in colour and size you have let alone just a front triangle, But they could come with an alternative as they did.

I’m another who has been on the same pills as you. I found it very had to speak to people especially work and felt the same as you.

Once i told work and my freinds it felt so much better and got some support.

A mixture of excercise, healthy eating, talking and reading CBT books helped. Also lots of fresh air.

I now take a herbal pill called kalms which you can just get from a chemist and beleive they help now.

I see alot of this Fisher bikes will be destroyed by Trek, But who cares, Gary Fisher didn’t when he sold the company nearly 20 years ago to a chinese/taiwanese syndicate. He had owned it for less than a year himself. Trek Bought Fisher in 93 and Gary has only really ever been president.

I have a shimano xt in one bike and Chris King in another which is a fantastic peice of kit. I have used hope and wasn’t that impressed. I do alot of muddy rides and use a jet wash which I know is frowned upon but i live in the real world.

I’d be happy to keep buying Shimano but if I was going to spend more then the Chris King wins hands down. It genuinly in my opinion is a lot better than hope.

I have two Trick stuff eccentikers. (one on ebay as we speak ;).)

Work really well. fit and forget, the bearings are easily sourcable, about £2 each so £4 and it runs like new.

If you get one make sure it is very clean when fitted and no grease in sight (except threads) and it will run smooth and not slip for a while. (i’m 6’2″ and 14 and a bit stone)

I have a freind who like above runs 120mm forks, the downside is the handling, Little bit slacker. Just give it ago they are pretty tough frames.

I’ve seen jon hammer his down stuff i wouldn’t class as “xc”. If it cracks get it welded.

I really like the idea of a feedback thread, maybe its own section above next to the “for sale” and “wanted” sections.

It makes us police it ourselves and do it respectivly.

I very rarely sell/buy in here but when I do I’m more than happy to give as many resonable details as posible. Link to facebook, my home address etc.

I also think it makes a difference knowing how much imput a member has to a forum, For example myself, ton, AndyHilton and SC-XC on this thread all have the premier member symbol which shows our commitment, Would it be possible to have a “post count” like many other forums, even if just in the Profile section. I would be happier buying from a regular poster or a premier member.

New shock, respray and a few new bits,

The Five is a great frame for up here. I loved mine when I lived in the Lakes. Very hard to beat. I ran fox float 32 then talas 36 up front and a Rp23 Pro Pedal rear. 36/22 front chainrings.

Give it a new lease of life.
