No, they won’t. you think Hope have just got this adapter sorted and thrashed on a pair of M4 calipers and 200mm rotors??? The full version in the end is likely to have a slimmed down caliper with smaller pistons, 120-140mm rotors with thinner brake tracks. Don’t forget this adapter is just a prototype

Yes but you still (unless they release a sti lever) need the cable to determine the power of the brakes. You can use a powerful calliper but you still will have the drawback of a cable operated system. All the added adapters and reservoirs adds to the weight which you wouldn’t have if you went will a solely cable operated system.

A fully hydraulic system is a different mater.

I don’t see the point of system like the hope one. As you still require cable quality to determine braking quality.

A good set of cable discs like bb7 with decent cables and levers will be lighter and work as well.

I had the single speed one and an alfine on another bike. both where fantastic.

The frame is one of the best i’ve ridden and still would be if it wasn’t for big wheels.

I haven’t read anywhere about a site. I thought it was just homes.

Which they will never go for, A site with water facilities would be the cheapest to sort and would provide them with what they need.

This is the one near me.

Hammer they are £85 if you can find em.

You’ll need a specific frame, fork and wide rims to fit them. I have one on the front of my Pace with a Salsa enabler fork and 47mm rockman rim.

Evicting Gypsies isn’t the best idea in my opinion. Where do they expect them to go???

I really think its best in this case to work with them. Near where I live we used to get serious problem with travellers. Not trouble but caravans, horses etc all down the sides of the a19.

Now there is a purpose built community for them. Out of the way with facilities. Works for both sides.

Once you’ve worked in a bike shop or really looked into warranty claims you realise that 99% of broken parts are broken from “just riding along and then…..”

I was just riding along and my fork just snapped 🙄

Hitting a pot hole at speed is going to do some serious damage to any ROAD bike,

Should be fine, Specialized used to run MTB rear mechs on tricross’s and a few touring bikes come with road sti’s and mtb rear mechs. As there is more availability (or was) for mtb mechs with extra clearance for 9 speed.

Just make sure you get you chain length right.

    another thread

Going well, rides really well with fat tyre. But have ordered a Niner fork for up front.

You’ll need a mega long hose for the rear brake though.

It would be a Time trail.

Hard to expect 150 riders setting off at once to not follow another.

I had a similar problem with my Defy, All felt solid, but the sealed bearings in the lower cup had dried out and started to corrode. Rocking the bike no problem but the force of my weight on the bike and breaking along with flex caused an awfull knocking noise.

Get some lithium grease and some copper slip and strip and rebuild your front end like said above. spin the bearing in your finger you’ll feel if they have “gone”

Ah sorry Chimney bank is on green, Doh its the bank on the map with chevrons just out of Rosedale.

I see what you mean it was confusing with what they describe. I think they stayed at the B&B near fryup hall and rode up to Danby, and have put the start on the map as Danby as there is a car park there and its a damn site easier to find.

    clicky

Hope that makes sense. But yes I think clockwise like the map, Rosedale is by the way a pretty place to go visit.

I’m pretty sure the frames are made in Holland.

Airborne where completely different when the brand split up the dutch guys wanted to do it right and formed Van Nic

Yes ride round there a lot,

Make sure you go DOWN chimney bank. its 33% and long so a bit of a bitch to go up.

Very beautiful area, Print the map and you’ll be fine with that the bridleways and tracks are well marked.

For other routes their are hundreds round there just get an OS map and ride out over the moors. there are trails and bridleways all over.

About 12 years I bought a Gt Zasker for about £1200 on sale an was top of the range then, Sids, XTR v brakes etc.

Now a days you don’t get a bike with those parts (labels) for that money.

IMHO I’d rather ride a modern version for £1200 which would likely come with Recons and deore/alivio and Hydro discs. you may not like the fact your bike costs more and says “alivio” on it but it will work a damn sight better than what was around 10 years ago because the technology has come on so much more.

And so what if the Taiwanese are charging more for the frames they produce they are as much entitled to the same money as a westerner for the same amount of work in my eyes. They have worked hard and the production quality has come on miles.

Are you sure its not a case of having one of these:

    That there is naivety.
In the UK there’s (or used to be) more chance of someone from a state school becoming PM than there is in the US of one becoming president.

You’ve missed the point. The US President is their Head of State. Our Prime Minister is not.

You can spin it, But that statement is correct is terms of Political leader. As we have both a monach and Pm

Oh well sorry but I din’t see the sarcasm in your voice, you see…

Yeah my fault needed a 🙄 or maybe a 😉 but I had Liz and Phil giving me grief in my ear at the time.

So, I’d say that dealing with the issue of an unelected head of state sitting atop an anachronistic, unprogressive, undemocratic system of social order is actually a priority

But surely the handover of the majority of power to parliment and using the Royals as a symbol is what we have been doing in modern times. I think the use of them as a representative is very benfical to the country and the politics being left to the people we vote for.

    Better than being french.
This is just jingoistic, ignorant and insulting.

Yes it is and it was said tongue in cheek in regards to a lot of the comments on here.

I’m proud to be British, Proud of my heritage, and proud that I live in a somewhat civilized Nation that gives all a good standard of living something that our forefathers have worked hard for.

There are a hundred issues with the nation that need addressing well before the typical Royal Bashing.

What like being an failing colonial power, still reveling in the fac tthat we have historically taken whatever we chose by force, leaving in our wake horrendous turmoil that carries on for centuries, or a system based on nepotism and privilige that actively gravitates against achieving excellence and therefore reversing that decline?

    Better than being french.

Can’t see us ever ditching the royals.

I enjoy my life, and if i had to decide what was ditched on order for me to save £1 on my tax bill the royals would be nowhere near the top.

Start small and work hard. You won’t be able to stock everything in fact you need to have as little overheads as possible so very low skeleton stock is better. be efficiant order before the customer leaves the store as most suppliers let you add to orders as the day goes on to save postage costs. They usualy offer next day if before 3pmish.

If you build the ideal bike shop for bikers it will go out of business because its not financially viable.

Stock a few parts for granny bikes, bmxs and falcons etc. These will pay your bills.

    Enjoy it and good luck

Oh and make sure your other half/family is on board as you’ll hardly see them for the first few months.
