Looks class, Whats it like with a 26″ rear?

I’m runing my swift with a fat front and looking at one of those tyres.

I used an ultgra chainset for a bit on my swift. It was fine as I played with the spacers on my rear hub to adjust chainline. But as schmiken put it you need to put the chainring on the outside on most frames as there isn’t as much clearance as on a road frame.

I’m pretty sure Sam at singular has put a few road chainset on his bikes.

    Carbon Fixers

The frame I had the gouge went through a couple of layers of carbon. Must be my eyesight on the photo, does it go deep into the carbon? Have you seen it in person?

The wheels are a pretty damn good spec, You don’t get much better than profile.

Try and haggle but £250 isn’t that bad a price.

Yeah that’s fine. (from the photo looks just like paint)

I bought one that was much worse than that and had it coated in some sort of resin at a car bodywork shop.

What gets me is that some people who like them seem to be too eager and desperate to fight the 29er corner for some reason

Mainly because there isn’t a day goes by without someone preaching how crap they are, wheels will explode, have no benefits etc…

More than any other of genre of cycling.

Don’t like the look but I’m curious how they ride,

I love the way they look, Finally I have a bike that looks normal rather than huge frame and little wheels.

I’ve been riding 29ers for a few years and can’t say i’ll look back.

Currently have a Pace and a Swift. Looking at a full-sus one next.

You should just need a BB (external cups) and the tool to fit them. But that depends on the frame.

Ultimately, that’s what it comes down to – regardless of whether the crash was caused by a car, yourself or anything else – having head protection makes sense.

Evidence justin bieber doesn’t wear a helmet and gets a head injury.

My Swift has a 90mm now with jones bars
Pace has 110mm with straight wide bars

    Road bikes both have 110mm

I think chimney bank out of rosedale is the steepest road climb in the uk iirc, same neck of the woods!

    Yep its 33%

But I said A class roads,

I went to a mates stag do in the peaks, (no riding) it was just drinking and go karting cost around £500 in total which I though was a lot for a stag do. I said I thought it was a lot of cash but would come anyway.

Two months later my stag do, £25 in the kitty from everyone and it covered all the drinks and a buffet meal. (it was a bike ride round 4 pubs and around 4 miles) Above stag was short of cash and had a cold so didn’t think it was best to come out on a bike. It was a class day and everyone enjoyed it.

So i think be honest to him and sort out a piss up at the local. If its cheap and not built up to anything it you’ll all have a great time.

IIRC Sutton bank is the steepest section of A road we have in the UK. Its shut at the mo so all the cars are getting diverted through my village.

    I’m pretty sure:

    Snack yate (Boltby) is 20%

    Sutton bank is 24%

“I don’t see how it should be any different for natural trails to a trail centre. Its still the outdoors.”

Because trail centres are specifically built for biking not for walking dogs

They aren’t (won’t go into this as other have.)

If you are walking your dog you go on the walks (paths) if you are riding your bike with your dog you go on the trails.

Always cover your discs with some old rags

Just make sure they aren’t soaked in gt85 or other greases.

I don’t see how it should be any different for natural trails to a trail centre. Its still the outdoors.

There are well trained dogs and badly trained dogs, but most importantly there are more badly skilled mtbers at trail centres who cause alot more issues.

Yes pace still do all servicing at Dalby in their new workshop. The new fork decals have only just been put on their site.

I used a disc mounted cog from velosolo and rode a lap of Dalby red fixed, It was a laugh for a bit then the novelty wore off.

I was completely fecked beyond belief and glad I didn’t have to drive home.

I will use it again for a ride from home that’s a mixture of local road and bridleways and is pretty flat.

Thats what the research says – the CTC estimate 200 extra people would die each year if helmets were compulsoy in the UK 10 deaths from head injuries saved, an extra 200+ deaths fro diseases of inactivity

I’ll always wear a helmet and will always recommend people to wear one but if they say No that’s their choice.

I completely agree with the study above and would be against compulsory wearing of helmets for adults (kids is different IMHO but not really looking it fully)

The £90 tesco bike crew would rather walk than wear a helmet for example.

Lycra is more practical when going fast 18mph+, nothing flapping around etc.

baggies just look better and for a lot of people are more comfortable and mean you can put stuff in your pockets.

Road + Mtb Racing = Lyrca
Casual + fashion concious = Baggies

Is it just my silly memory or haven’t skinsuits been banned in DH despite the top riders wanting to wear them?

Yes and that was a stupid arguement by the UCI

I really enjoyed riding the Altura trail and think its worth £6 IMHO at the end of the day its not the FC fault you need two cars. If you want to ride for free I’ve heard the Lakes might have some natural trails but not sure.

With decent brake blocks they work just fine.

That’s bollox, either that or your definition of ‘fine’ is way off the mark.

Explain how a pad that has to rub water off a rim before it can begin the stopping process can be fine.

My frogglegs are set up very well thanks but no amount of setting up can get round the issue of a wet rim.

Maybe you don’t ride your bike in the rain.

    Not Bollox.

Allot of pads are designed to rub or shed water off the braking surface.

Koolstop Salmon pads are excellent for wet and muddy conditions on Mini V or canti’s,

Sven Nys and the like don’t seem to have any issues at riding in mud.

I have used the cheap plain ones that where about £14. Can’t say I noticed any different over the standard Avid’s that came with my juicy’s would def buy them again as they are half the price.

Would you buy a repossessed bike?

I know its different but essentially its the same.

It wasn’t you that made the house get repossessed, All your doing is buying a house that’s on the market. if you don’t buy it someone else will do. As Camo said if the previous owners are “squatting” or the like its more than likely they have moved on.

I would suggest a comprehensive survey is done just to make sure a bitter ex-resident hasn’t tampered with anything.

Pauls melvin will let you run a souble up front and singlespeed rear. I have used one on a few SS conversions including full sus ones. I think it’ll work better (or ones that are similar) because it has two jockey wheels so holds the chain better.

Orange built a P7 a couple of year similar to this:
