Yeah 650b has been around for a while,

you can run it on most 26″ frames and forks which have good clearance which is a bonus.

    parcel2go are pretty good,

    as are myhermes.

Both track able and a damn sight cheaper as they us all couriers to find you the best price. I think they look for spaces on vans.

Are you sure it wasn’t a 29er owner trying to prove a point?

I really like the hummer but would find it hard to justify one over the handjob, which is a stunning frame and lovely to ride not to mention less than half the price of the hummer.

I can quite happily ride my bike all day,

But I ran for the bus last week and nearly died 😳

So i’m pretty sure its all relative. I will be doing more running now maybe once or twice a week to get a reasonable level for “running” fitness. I don’t think its right to think I can do 50k on the bike for 10k would be a piece of pi55, some people it won’t be a problem others it will.

I have just gone from the Rampage to the Fox V3, they are so comfy and fit me right, but you need to try them on.

Giro and THE ones just don’t seem to fit me well but the fox fit is spot on.

No probs, I usually send bikes the other way but have come across some gizmo’s in my time.

Let me know if you get stuck with anything, but there is no reason to change a frame you like.

First to hand if not fancing the geared hub is a old style saint hub/mech assembly as the mech mounting to the axle not the droupout.

or speak to these guys to see if they can get a hold of a dropout that fits the bolt holes on your frame:

    Ceeway

Or send you drive side dropout to BETD and ask them to copy it with a mech hanger attached,

Have you got a picture of your dropouts?

you can pretty much put gears on any frame going. where there a will and a dremel theres a way.

    If not get an alfine.

There’s plenty of riding in Dalby to be done that doesn’t touch the Red route.

Go exploring plenty of the higher up bits will be dry.

In my experience the cheaper the bike the longer i keep/use it for.

Giant XTC is very good for the money, the new genesis 29ers also look very good, But just try them.

I only ride a 29er now nad have done for a while and doubt i’ll go back.

But I wouldn’t buy a similar 26″ bike to mine in the same ways i wouldn’t buy a Dh bike or a folder. They aren’t what i want.

29″ wheels aren’t the be all and end all they are an option.

I went in Chevin a couple of years ago with a Cannondale I bought in Chamonix france.

The bike was just over two years old and the headshock was leaking. I asked them to service it. Came back a week later and they had done the whole thing FOC as they rang Cannondale (I didn’t ask them too as didn’t think it would be covered) and Cannondale said just replace it and we’ll cover the costs. Chuffed to bits and went back with cakes.

Just adding balance to the argument.

I very much doubt ANY good bike shop would recommend you bodge something.

But if you are going to do it, Check there is enough thread as the unit isn’t designed to have anything inbetween it and the frame.

If you only bought frames on the basis that not one had ever broken you would struggle to find one.

Frames do fail, it was unlucky that it happened to you, But you got excellent customer service which is the key point. You could have been told you “jumped it” or something similar and be going down the small claims route.

Why try to divert the question on to other pursuits?

Because TJ’s buzz word “utility” cropped up. He said shooting has no utility in another thread but killing animals for food does.

my Pro-Fox shredding friends have either (Most have some connection to agriculture

Depends what type of agriculture they are in, If they are in landownership they are more likely to be involved.

Agriculture: the Hunt generally causes more damage than the fox. The gamekeepers near us would have shot the fox well before any chance of a hunt coming along.

Still though is there a utility if the aim is to eat the animal?

    Looking at shooting/fishing here.

    Utility?

We had this with shooting, If you shoot a rabbit or pheasant to eat is that a utility? isn’t that the Same as halal.

Does that mean that it has no utility if there is no intention to eat the animal?

I agree TJ that Fox hunting has nothing to do with vermin control anymore, and doubt it ever did.

    I’ve seen worse on here,

I reckon I’ve probally owned worse too. Loads of time i’ve swapped frame and a couple of parts i’ve been using till new ones turn up just look wrong.

If you look at how many classic bikes are around that are made of steel you will see many of them have lasted a good 70 years,

I have a muddyfox that has seen some serious use and is over 20 years old.

A steel frame is likely to last long enough for you to get bored of it.

No I know it’s not a perfect solution, just trying to look at options is all.

One of the most sensible posts on this thread,

    Removing firing pins could work.

I personally have my guns in a locked cabinet which is in my attic which is only accesable through a small padlocked hatch. This keeps them well out of the way and in a safe place. (not to hand)

I think more money should be put into looking into who is having the guns and the people who go check where the gun cabinets are. The rules are ok there just needs to be a lot more effort into it.

The car remarks aren’t entirely pointless they do kill, but its the way people through them back at the anti-gun crowd that makes it look daft.

TJ may think there is no real use to a gun but I don’t care there are plenty of things in this world I think are pointless but I don’t care as they don’t directly effect me.

My guess is that this will be more problematic as you’ve then got an unsupervised structure in a rural location full of guns that everyone in the vicinity knows about.
    Constant security.

Oh what’s that I hear you cry? Ittul cost lots of money??

    Yeah it will. And?

Surely you’re that into your sport that you’d be perfectly happy to pay extra for increased public safety. I’m sure you’re all that responsible, aren’t you?

Constant security in a remote location that is un-manned? so when it is targeted it takes ages for anyone to get there to stop the thieves.

But if it is manned then its no better than having the guns at home as you are relying that the supervisor of the guns isn’t a nutter.

Or just let gun owners keep their guns at home.

Why, whats wrong with killing things for fun? why is it any different from killing things for meat?

I enjoy pheasant shooting, does that make me a bad person? I eat the birds I kill.

I don’t enjoy shooting rabbits or foxes (very rare) but have to time to time.

A girl that ride with me has just bought a Giant XTC 29er in small and loves it, Just like with any bike try a few and you’ll find one you like.

I have the Pace RC129 and love it. I’m pretty sure they have a small demo. Sophie who works there is usually bombing round on it.

I have still to see any USE for a gun apart from killing things

    Olympic Sport – Biathlon

    Are they USING guns??
