A friend of mine runs his a SS with rigid 29er forks and its spot on, as long as the fork length suits the headangle you want you’ll be fine.

Depending on how much weight your going to carry, 26″ wheels may be better for strength.

The surly LHT comes in 26″ in most sizes.

dawes nomad’s are also great bikes.

The ss hubs and stans rims does like a good deal,

I’d go for that, if your happy with SS (ihaven’t had any problems with any of their stuff) then keep at it.

Are you going geared or SS?

They get one big royal mail van, and all the boxes stack up nicely inside it. Imagine how much hassle it would be if everything was different sizes.

Plus think of the savings they would make on bulk buying boxes

Yeah reasonable build, Try second hand if you need to save a little

Put a wanted up on here plenty of mechanics would do it for a couple of beers,

    XC is the WRC
    Road is F1

In what way? F1 is better paid but ultimately useless, WRC sells cars to the masses but not so well paid?

XC must be the most boring of all of the cycling disciplines to watch. WRC is one of the most exciting motor sports. XC is a “race”, WRC is a timed stage event. WRC drivers are at the very top of their game, XCers are often failed roadies. They’re nothing alike. whatsoever.

You use slicks in F1 and on the road
    Knobblies on WRC and XC

You could find a hundred ways to say anything is like anything if you go that deep into it,

Essentially people class F1 as the leaders in technology. They are in some ways as they have developed a lot of new technologies but so have all the other motorsports in their own ways.

Here’s hoping manufacturers will wake up and realise that not all singlespeeders have a beard and want a steep bike with 100mm forks.

They have woken up and make jump bikes, some are SS and for 130mm fork

Ah cool i live in Bagby at the bottom of the hill.

Best riding is out towards the top of Boltby/Snack yate bank, Follow hambleton road along towards high paradise farm. Stright infront is boltby woods, ride along with them on your left, at the end of the woods you can go left down some great singletrack descents or straight on towards osmotherly with some again great rocky descents,

But round there its best just to take a map and explore almost every bit of singletrack is fun

Check with Pace which model you have, as Matt said you can change the steerer in most, that will make it more desirable.

Credit cards are for people who don’t know how to control themselves. That’s where the problem lies

And for people who now how to use them.

The thought of getting into credit card debt for bike related parts is insane.

Even if it is just for protection of purchasing online its worth it,

EDIT: was going to say something along the lines of toys19

Always go for steel over alu, far better ride.

I’ve just got some Pace steel forks and they are class, but they maybe a bit long at 470mm

Salsa cro-motos are also a very good pair.

Charity absolutely cannot work like that. Where do you draw the line?

There must be line somewhere in the regulations of being a charity,

as Tesco would just give 5% of profits to cancer research and declare themselves as a charity and reap the benefits.

Bought a trek session 7 a few years back on 0% finance,

But since them I’ve bought the odd frame on credit card and paid it back payday.

I now just buy when I can afford and have done for a few years. I won’t use a credit card or finance again but only out of choice.

I think if you are realistic and can afford the repayments then go for it.

Livestrong pays him $200k every time he appears at a Livestrong event. Something like 45% of Livestrongs turnover is spent on his legal fees. HIS legal fees, not Livestrongs. thats money that should be getting spent on researching and fighting cancer, but it’s not, it’s being spent on HIS libel cases

Now I’m not going to say its right, BUT if its 55% of it turnover going on Cancer research its 55% of something rather than 55% of nothing. There is plenty of people in this world that could equal that contribution quiet easily but simply don’t.

Great, so where DO you draw the line? Pro-Tour? Pro-Continental? Domestic Cat 1? Go Race under 12’s?

I think the current system is fine, You do drugs you get caught, you win and theres no evidence you end up gathering attention from the conspiracy theorists. I find it sad that someone does well they instantly get hated.

I know a few people who have been through cancer and have found Lance Armstrong an inspiration. Also his work for charity is impeccable.

    BSO = bike shaped object,

Its worth a try but its not all 3k bikes as someone put above. But its lovely job, generally work with like minded people and get cheap bike parts you can fit to your bike at work.

Worth a shot if your not doing anything else.

I agree with Gee on the Salsa, Its a lovely bike to ride,

Rode a little demo on one.

For every person that works against cyclists using bridleways there are 10 cyclists who ride footpaths,

Best in my eyes just to get on with your day and ignore them, be the better person. Otherwise you both look pretty foolish.

look into which one you get though as they vary a great deal.

Some keep you warm some cold. Also think seriously about wearing something for 3 days close to your skin. Your body gets rid of the toxins for a reason. Just because it doesn’t smell doesn’t mean its good for you.

A combination base layer that is both synthetic and merino will give you the better performance than a 100% merino as you get the best of both worlds. merino keeps you comfortable and the synthetic fibres (generally polyamide) dry it out.

9 times out of 10 a polyester base layer is better for high intensity activity as it doesn’t hold moisture like merino does.

Personally for a 3 day ride I’d look at a couple of light weight polyester base layers, They are super light weight and take up a lot less room than a merino one, Plus you get to wear a fresh top each day.

You only have to take 5 mins of looking at pros bikes to see that they very so much person to person.

Generally if you ride the drops more then angle your levers down. ride the hoods then angle them up.

Get your bars to the position that feels right, then ride up and down the street trying diferent lever positions before you bar tape.

(or go with fashion and trash your back)
