Will proofing it delay this happening in the future? It feels like I could tear it with my hands.

Yes, also looks its not been kept tight.

The leather looks in good nick, hard to tell from photo,

Take it off your bike, leave it somewhere warm for a couple of days then tighten it up, I think with a bit of work it’ll be fine.

Its likely to still have a fair bit of damp in it due to the temp and weather if you got it soaked.

As above…..a saddle you can’t get wet??!!!!

You can, you just need to look after it, If you never oil your chain and it gets wet it will die too.

put a pic up, mine looked seriously battered but a good dry out near the log burner and a bit of elbow grease and it was just right.

i don’t have any of mine in battered state.

not had any problems with mine, although they have looked battered, then I just let it dry out and re-treat it and it comes up good.

They need looking after. Most will come with a cover.

Do real people work at CRC, I thought it was robots thats why you can’t ever get through to them.

You don’t have “log in” issues at a real shop. you get flapjack instead

If its crap the LBS will do better, if its good the LBS will NEED to do better.

A sign of a good shop is one that can evolve and take on new challenges.

I remember that Raleigh too, if you look he has changed everything on it, so it has become the most expensive raleigh probably ended up that it would be cheaper to buy a stumpjumper

Used to do it a lot a few years ago with a couple of mates,

Raced round York on our fixie’s under the lights, then a couple of bevvies and then try to ride home. Some really good times.

Salsa forks generally do, the mark 1 fargo fork may work denpendant on tyre choice.

Rik, it was a right f@cking chew on, Took me a whole weekend to get it to work,

    Its centaur shifters 10 speed,
chorus front and rear mechs (double front)
    Fsa mtb double chainset.
ambrosio cassette, (campy spacing – shimano splined)

Due to the spacing of the cassette I couldn’t use the top three gears with the inner chain ring as it caught the tyre, so I took off the three smallest sprockets and placed a spacer behind the cassette to make it 7 speed. Set the stops.

The front mech needed a little file and different stop screws to move it in the right position.

Once done it was fine, you can use a 8 speed shimano with 10 speed campag shifters also for the same spacing. but you’d need a narrower tyre.

I have a revolution stand, been pleased wiut

Its about 2 and a half years old and the plastic parts are a bit worn so it rattles about a bit when doing repairs so I just use it for cleaning bike on now,

But for the money its hard to beat,

Where is the line between drop bar MTB, “monstercross” and the new breed of CX bikes that are not for racing? Or is, as I suspect, “monstercross” a made up term for odd bikes?

The line is where-ever the person you are talking to says so,

I called my swift above a mtb with drops as did a few others, some called it monstercross

once bibs are on and your riding they are miles more comfortable as they hold the pad in the right place. But you won’t get much for £30. for that lycra shorts with pad would be better.

    basic non-bib lycra shorts:

    Craft Active
    Altura Pro-gel

    What’s sensibly priced?

I have ditched every pair of inner shorts i’ve owned and just used bib or decent lycra shorts

Keep using them till they die,

That will give you time to look out for a really good deal and get something else cheap.

Depends on my mood and who I’m riding with, I’ve done a few where I have stopped a fair few times, Quite happy to make a day of it and see a few places/pubs/café’s especially if out with good company.

Not really interested in 100 mile ride (or any ride in fact) where HR or threshold is mentioned.

Even if its toms fork or not, Pikes are a really good fork, So are the 44’s especially the 20mm ones,

What wheels have you got, if you can switch between 9mm and 20mm there’s a good chance you’ll be able to get an adaptor that’s for 15mm too,

Its honestly best to try a few things,

I’ve tried marys, carnegies, narrow wide, with short and long stems,

My current bike XL Pace 29er has a 100mm stem and 710mm flat bars with 11deg of sweep. seems to work just right.

now i’m just trying grips, when i get them sorted it’ll be back to seeing what frame is right in a triggers brush kinda way,
