I personally think you are doing well if you get a replacement. regardless of how old the bike is.

But it is worth trying and emailing who you can to find out

plus the forks have disc mounts…. and I DON’T know if disc brakes were invented back in 1993… hhahaha

Where does it say they are from 1993???

    Did you read the listing?

    Klein Attitudes had internal cabling….

Not all of them a few had external routing.

Unless thats fake too, but i’ve seen a few like that and with routing on the side of the toptube

He does say its re-sprayed, and you can’t judge if a frames fake because of what’s bolted to it.

Strange one that, because the dropouts don’t look too wrong but can’t remember one with top tube cables.

    One for the retrobike boys.

When dual slalom was big and companys like DMR and Identiti where starting up loads of DJ/DS bikes came with a 24″ option.

I was always a fan of Rocket frames:

Were already available by 2002… My XT disc brakes I bought in 2001 cost me £100 an end including rotors, roughly what the new equivalent is today online.

And air sprung forks have been around since the very first MTB suspension, the Original Rockshox RS1 was air sprung back in the early 90’s!

Fully aware they where around then, but no where near as many affordable versions,

Look at the bikes out there now with hydro discs and air forks, something in 2002 was on very few bikes under £1.5k

Most of the stuff listed above would be fine if you didn’t crash and did some maintenance.

even £1k+ wheels can get trashed in a couple of months use in our winters especially with all the salt on the road. even more so if ridden with a little play in them.

    hope you get sorted

Have you been on any Yorkshire roads recently?

A1 is fine at the mo, they could go up and down it.

I have worked for a brand that doesn’t pay for any advertising and has had full reviews and top marks from futures magazines.

Def a case of buying exposure not 10/10’s

I used a White Industries DOS freewheel on a surly hub,

Worked very well and worked out cheaper than a hope or chris king and the quality is fantastic

    To the OP,

Go to Atb sales, tell them the truth, all the details, chances are someone who works there will have seen this thread by now.

Tell them how you loved the bike and just want a replacement. You bought it and used in good faith that it was a top class bike. Hopefully they will sort you out.

If not you’ve had 5 years riding out of a great bike which is a good life for a bike in my eyes. Go buy something else and swap the parts over.

    Hope it goes well.

Nope LHM+ or mineral oil. just check with your local garage but its loads cheaper.

Merino sheep wear theirs in summer and winter alike!

Yeah but have you seen any happy sheep??

Trouble is with the tide of change going towards 29er and other wheel sizes am I going to find that my 26er epic is something utterly undesired and worthless in a sale if I hang on

Your bike is more likely to become undesired because its old rather than its wheel size.

The next few years will see people change from 26″ to 29″ and also people change back from 29″, Its just a choice like Full sus or hardtail

Do you guys wear a synthetic base when its really hot? Sometimes see guys on the Tour doing so……can it actually cool you?

Yes they are very good, Plenty off mesh rad c nesbit ones that work very well. Most aren’t compression.

The mesh will regulate air flow around the skin and wick moisture away.

A good synthetic will dry far quicker than merino.

Yeah don’t get that, i’m spec will have a reason

As far as I can see where there is a spesh bike available in the same spec in both 26″ and 29″, the 29er is £1-200 more expensive.

    Which one?

Buy a second hand one for £300, You could pick a nice frame with tiagra/105.

Spend the extra on Chain, Cassette, Bar tape and a new saddle
