Eh? So you would prefer a hereditary dictatorship?

    WTF?

The royal wedding and jubilee bank holidays cost £6bn each – I think there might be a deficit

The £6bn was plucked out of the air. It varies from 1.2bn to 6bn depending on what article you read.

Anyway it ain’t gonna change in our lifetime. I’m off to clean my bike.

Something you’ve yet to establish. Keep trying.

£25 million in memorabilia even if you think it was tat it came in.

The royals cost £38 million in upkeep per year. 62p per tax payer.
But the estates bring in £226 million in surplus income.

“The feast of pageantry cost the taxpayer £10m in total”
“The Confederation of British Industry calculates that a bank holiday costs the economy £6bn in lost productivity and overtime”

You can pick at everything that it is put in front of you all you want. but this is one example, The royals do bring money in.

Having us ignore failed to establish your point, you’re reduced to posting cartoons. I suspected that you royalists were none too bright, so thanks for the confirmation.

“And where do they live, eat, entertain themselves, etc, while they’re here ?.”

    1. You don’t have to come to the UK in order to buy the memorabilia.
    2. Few foreigners would be making a special, additional journey.

Not sure if you’re being ironic but if not:

£25 million worth of tat – I think we could of done without it.

You asked if the royals bring money in, I gave you an example.

Do you actually have any proof of this? Plenty of Americans (and many other nationalities) also go to France, Italy and Greece and they don’t have any royal families. Tourists come to see the heritage – not the royals.

Memorabilia sales for the Royal Wedding alone where in excess of £25 million. Wouldn’t have got that without the royals.

it also may be worth looking into stripping it.

each individual part will be more sort after than a full build. Put an estimated price against each item and work out if that ends up more than £700

but i do refuse to participate in any pathetic celebrations

Each to their own I guess.

I’m just glad I love in a village where everyone is getting together for a big bonfire and party on Monday afternoon/Eve.

I suppose its different in small communities as we all look at it as a get together for friends and family. I wouldn’t call it pathetic.

Do you think that non-Christians should work on Christmas and Easter?

Go into any Spar that is open on Christmas day. that will answer your question.

I think there should be a jubilee every day. it might just remind everyone as they wave a little plastic union jack that the 1000 richest people in the UK – of which the Queen happens to be one – are £150bn better off between them since the banking crisis of 2008.

Just to put that into perspective, our glorious figurehead and her chums could between them clear the deficit that the condems are clearing by sacking you and your neighbours and still be £70m better off each than they were in 2008.

God bless you M’am, we’re all in this together.

Tis a good point, BUT not Queenys fault, look at any other nation with a monarchy or not the top percentage could pay off the debts no problem.

Agree with a lot of ernies points.

I really think with the recent “executions” that someone else has had a hand in this.

I’ve been to a few NHL games,

Seen the NY Rangers play a few times. (I love New York)
Also seen the Toronto Maple Leafs

I’d definitely recommend either of those. Had a great time there lovely place.

Boston I had a bad experience in a bar being British which is a shame as its such a nice place. Its scarred it for me but I do here of other stories.

Tampa has a lot to offer as its in Florida, I’ve stayed in a villa a few times in Kissimmee which is nearer Orlando but you could easily drive to a game.

Myself next to the NHL Orange County Chopper in the New York NHL Shop.

I doubt you have trouble finding a big shop that sells sports gear in any city in america.

I’m thinking of starting a campaign to ban everyone from bridleways and footpaths unless they are attempting a Strava KOM.

    I’m thinking of the opposite.

Out of interest, what sort of grounds to have have to complain? Does this come under the almighty Sale of Goods act? I suppose they could be deemed unfit for purpose.

Just ask the shop nicely, No need to state SOGA unless last resort.

    Rickos,

I’m local, lived round Ampleforth area all my life,

I drink in Wass now, we get loads of ex boys staying there and the fathers come in for a brandy or two every now and again. You don’t need a pint in any of them for the name dropping to start.

Easy to happed if the monkey who handles returns is having a bad day,

Some low life orders pedals, uses them, then just sends them back in the box saying “unwanted gift”. monkey receives box quick look inside. Not a cyclist so doesn’t check 100% and puts on shelf.

I’ve always thought we have different frame sizes so why not different wheels sizes in adult bikes.

    Choice is a good thing.

Otherwise we would be stuck with one type of generic bike.

surely this is about the right to enjoy are great countryside? Lets not legislate for a few cyclicts and walkers who cause issues. Lets live together, one planet.

Yes I fully agree. but it has to be thought out and done sensibly. especially in areas that attract large volumes of people.
