The IRA that fought for the freedom of Ireland in the first half of the century where freedom fighters, the IRA that followed with car bombs etc on civilians are terrorists. big difference.

Technically it twas the French that invaded Ireland after they kicked our arses. 😉

I don’t like how a few of the media site etc have made a big deal of how bad this is for MM, Not exactly great for Queeny considering Mountbatten and all the civilians deaths.

As a group (huge generalisation) i’v efound them to be at the polar extremes of the best and worst you can find in the general population.
In my private life i have Traveller mates, and dealing with their mfamilies and mates i have found them to very honourable and honest.
But with work the total opposite, all of the stuff mentioned above bu others. Dumping tonnes of asbestoes in one of our yrads was the worst, but at least it wasn’t in the street.

    +1

Met some that work hard as anyone general labouring etc. but met others that are only out to steal gates etc.

Depending on your hub you may be able to space the cog out by a couple of mm to make the chainline better on a 107. also can you switch the chainring to the inside on your cranks?

I have the 29er Pace and love it,

another bike to look at would be the Surly 1×1. simple solid and really good value.

Really? But surely he is responsible for the listing?

Technically but there is some ruling on genuine mistakes. Also he could just tell you to get stuffed.

That is apart from the rule number 1 of life,

I started building wheels a couple of years ago. I’m not the best in the world and it takes me a while but I enjoy it and have had no problems so far (touch wood)

I started by getting an old wheel I had kicking about and took it apart.
I followed the instructions on Sheldon Browns site. (first attempt got the rim the wrong way round!!)
    But fine the second time,

    Then started on proper wheels.

If you do have a go with a proper set you could always take it to a LBS for them to check and true it, this will be considerably less than a wheel build.

Hope vision 1, – just standard batteries.

LM minewt USB – rechargable but does last a long time.

How much riding in dark are you planning on doing?

If you like them, then spend as much time looking after them as you can/are prepared to.

might be worth do a service one year yourself and get in done by a shop the next to keep costs down.

    Depends on quantity,

the cycle jersey may be a good start.

Otherwise pick a fairly plain jersey and get the logo done by a screen printer. far cheaper than a custom jersey

doubt it… Brompton made a load of GBR team bikes for the team to use around the Olympic park, but that was scuppered as BMW is the official games transport provider…

shame london based manufacture an icon of Britain… would of been a good tie up with team GB…

Its Dawes who have a tie up with Team GB.

Do you guys do the same with cars

No but I would know if a wheel was loose, the fact it doesn’t go in a straight line is a give away.

    Road ones = road levers
Mtb ones = mtb style levers

Or you can use something like travel agents from problem solvers

I stuck a Tiagra on my 29er as It was all i had around after knocking another off.

Its still on now and will be till it dies. Neat and out of the way also very good value.

How did anyone manage to wheel the bike about with a quick release so loose it swings?? let alone ride it.

I have insurance with m&s. my policy is that bikes up to £3k are insured at home and away from home if locked up. over £3k only insured at home from theft.

This is all part of Home + Contents.

Am I missing something? A 26″ frame and forks fits 700c wheels with cross tyres just fine. Not that either (26 or 29) is really a cross bike as such, nor that it matters especially.

Sorry thought you ment wheel size.

The Q re bar/hand positions is still not that clear, because those Singulars are designed around riding in the hoods and drops off road.

Mines a swift not designed for drops. The gryphon is the drop bar version with the steeper top tube.

    Singlespeed_Shep

But I’m not sure how you would get the useful and comfortable hand positions with the drops on mtb geometry.

Depends on bar and stem + rider. My frame above is a mtb frame with drops

What forks would you run? Rigid mtbs or CX?

If you use a mtb frame then mtb forks or your geo will be way out.

And why not go for 26″ over 29″?

Not really a cross bike then.

I ran this with cross tyres and 29er tyres no probs. Campy road cassette with mtb double chainset worked well.

Singulars don’t seem to look daft either with skinny tyres that some 29ers do.

    Evans have 40 odd stores.

Pick 40 random local bike shops and do a test of customer service. I reckon it would be even if not slightly in Evans favour because they offer more training than most LBS.

The reason Evans get more grief is that there is more of them.

    26″ wheels are unpopular?

Yeah so are 29″ now, Its all about the 650b and 36ers

I am pretty sure there is more metal thickness in my motorcycle bars than my MTB so i dont think you can really make a direct comparison.

There is a difference in thickness in bars on my mtbs but I still compare them.

So you are under 19 and in full time Educaton (doing A levels)

Happy days….. Free Dental Care for You !!

No need to sell your bikes to pay a £1750 bill

I’ve had private dental care and nice bikes since I was 16.

When I was a student I bought all sorts of stupid crap then realised I had no money at the end of the month/term and had to sell stuff. All things you learn as you grow up.

If you want something and its from someone you don’t want to deal with or its more than you want to pay move on. A bit like the real world.

I had the same with my right foot. Bought bigger shoes and its fine,

It would be worth getting someone to look at them. to many variables.
