I always think its funny when people rant about trail centre parking prices when they have driven past countless “free” trails in the countryside.

Mountain biking is expensive, the brand and businesses and there to make money off us.

I hate handing over cash for stuff, but sometimes its worth it when you are out on abike

I’d seriously try a cross bike. opens up the option of bombing down some singletrack if needed.

As said above you can get discs if you really want but decent rim brakes can be very effective.

The bike shop have obviously discovered evidence which is consistent with jetwashing otherwise they would be unlikely to make such an insinuation.

or just rolled out their stock answer that can’t be proved one way or another

+1 Industry wide stock answer for bearing fail.

If I ran any sort of retail outlet you’d be barred.

    Your business wouldn’t last.

Oh, and to the guy with the Pitch, do you really think that Spesh go to Rockshox and Avid and say “we want to fit your parts to our bikes as they work well and have a good reputation, but can you make some rubbish ones just for us?” No

Actually to a point they do. Specialized are the worst at this. We want an XT chainset but cheaper. So Shimano will make it with cheaper materials and just brand up as “shimano xt level chainset”

ALl the OP has to do is prove his bike is problematic.

Nothing is normal with crank brothers!!

The slower spinning one seems about right.

I like them though. Take them both apart, clean, regrease and assemble. That should sort it.

Crank Brothers are great for fiddlers.

Its something you did. In a dream she had.

Laughed my tits off at that. Mrs SS gave me the silent treatment for almost a day for that.

    Yeah should have elaborated,

I weight 15 stone and am 6’2″ so larger than most.

I have tried Pace and Niner carbons. I didn’t notice a great deal of flex over the steel ones unless cornering. The niners flexed more than the Pace ones and I felt un-nerved by it. I also felt more confident that if I went round a corner fast and hit a rock/root etc the steel would handle it better.

The forks I Run now I do with a 2.35 (with salsa) and 2.2 (with pace) and that gives me enough comfort for trail riding on my 29ers.

Then it comes down to cost £80 for the salsa vs £150+ for carbon.

I would recommend people to try both carbon and steel, because with everything there are many options and they will suit different riding style/locations/riders

    love it, when it working

did mention this to them, asked them if they would look into the PF30 to BSA/HT2 inserts and they said it would be taking it away from the original spec so wasn’t part of the warranty

Sums it up for me, You really like the bike, gave them the option to either fix it or change it. Probally worth summing all your options in a letter, (send it RM special delivery) if they don’t answer you’ve got no choice but legal.

Pace and Salsa for me, not into carbon (tried a few)

    Steel is real!!

Regardless of the BB do you like the bike?

Because you can get converters to change it to threaded euro BB to run, square taper, isis HT2 etc

Might be worth speaking to the shop about that also.

Something where you selling a service over a product. Products don’t have a great margin especially if you are trying play with the big boys,

guiding from a hut, which has a coffee machine, hire bikes, repairs and spares.

Then employ a nice young lady to do cake and coffee full time whilst you are out guiding when you can afford it.

What if you can clearly see that there’s no traffic from either direction?

This is where the grey area appears, what if someone who comes out from a shop/side street etc see’s green and runs to cross.

£10 for a bike shop to sort, maybe free if your a good customer and only had the bike a short time.

£6 for the tool and half an hour of youtube to do it yourself and be prepared for next time.

base layer underneath can be good, i get a bit of nipple rub but it gets very hot

A cooling baselayer would solve that.

Why would I pay to advertise someone else’s sponsors? Never have got that . . . . .

Large logos are a great way of hiding Moobs.

I have loads of team jerseys, great way of getting a good jersey cheap when the kit changes. Same goes for shorts if they have a decent pad.

I have a couple of pairs of radioshack bib shorts (nike ones) with the expensive pad I use all winter under tights.

I like levi jeans, I saw these in New York last year and liked the look of them. But too much for me.

I used to have some O’neill jeans that where water resistant. They where great for snow boarding.
