I know a few people who rough up their discs, used to see a lot more who did it to their rims for trials.

Rough is better than polished in my eyes, I just can’t be arsed to do it.

I also turn bike upside down all the time.

Go to the following places and just ride:

Top of Kepwick Bank – NY Moors
    Hawes – NY Dales
    Ladybower – Peaks
    High street – Lakes
    Ilkley – West Yorks

A days riding at each of these locations in my eyes would give you some seriously good riding.

i run polished xt cranks on my MTB SS and profiles on my fixie with ti axle and spline drive sprocket. They don’t actually weight too much like that and are pretty stiff

so you would ride it if they replaced the whole frame but not if they only replace the bit that’s broken?

I know a few honest joiners and they would all want to put a fair bit of work into a shaped OAK worktop.

When I say it’s simple, I mean it’s a flat surface, there are no complex curves, and it won’t require especially complex machinery. It certainly shouldn’t take a skilled person the half-day I’ve been quoted.

Can you not do it then?

Is it wrong to agree with some of them? Its a cut throat world out there.

I don’t thinks its wrong, Look at the call centre.

One guy gets 21k the rest 18k

It isn’t the tradesmans fault he is getting paid more. They have a salary and could be living within their means which they have every right to with their salary.

The guys in the Garage did the right thing in my eyes, although if I was the boss I would be asking why the f*ck haven’t you been trying to save me this money all along. The pay difference in there was shocking though 9 grand for the same job? either we don’t see the full picture or its a bit messed up.

The tape was to stop the grit getting in, the spray would hold the grip.

    Singlespeed_Shep

could you not wrap a little electric tape over the scratch, then use hairspray/paint to stop the grip moving?

    Singlespeed_Shep

So your bars are scratched under the grips?

Go on then recommend me some (that are cheap and work)

Allen bolts?? what ever is in your tin of bits,

If you haven’t got one of them then I Definitely don’t know how you have lived.

On such a normal bit of kit why the hell dont they just use an allen key bolt

fyi torx is “better” as less likely to round out

Use an allen bolt instead. If you don’t like em.

Just speak to him, I moved into an end terrace a few years back, the previous owner was deaf so never complained about the noise.

It will be hard to say something but worth it,

If not, get a bigger stereo and play Limp Bizkit’s Hot Dog on repeat.

Might be worth driving half way and riding in, the traffic is horrendous at times, so depends which part your working in.

I have driven to the free car park in Wetherby and then jumped on the bike to Harrogate. seen a fair few do the same.

    Hi Stally

I don’t live to far from where your moving too,

Dalby and Silton(near thirsk) have downhills both are “local” maintained.

Plenty of moorland trails, I know of 10+ routes for evening rides. Although closer to Thirsk.

York is Dead pan flat. Short journey from Malton isn’t.

Let me know if you come unstuck. email in profile.

I went to Chamonix about 5 years ago with the road bike, Had a great time bombing about,

There was a bike shop called Zero G that gave me some great info on routes,

In the centre of town there was a wooden bridge where a local club used to meet, Rode with them one day but nearly died.

Was going to say Paul’s Love Levers but they are the wrong size?

Pauls cross levers would do the job, but way too pricey.

    Is your google broken??

Exactly the sort of faff I was wondering about….. guaranteed I’d end up with a magnet rattling around inside my frame

Take the forks off and it’ll drop out.

Internal cable routing isn’t too bad, shouldn’t put you off a frame. most will come with a bit of plastic in to help guide the cable through.

They would only rattle as much as one on the outside

The price of roadie replica kit doesn’t half make me laugh. Someone, somewhere mustn’t be able to believe their luck, that so many delusional, gullible idiots people are prepared to pay that amount of money to look like a total spod!!!

I get your point on looking like a spod. but team kit is often cheaper than the regular jersey.

With an allen key, usually about 50 times before its right,

    Then just one for luck.

Bars always lower than bars by a few inchs on my mtb’s and road bikes

Or have had a day’s entertainment (possibly for 3 or 4 people) on trails that cost money and effort to maintain.. for £5/£8.

Sounds more like a bargain than a rip off to me!

yeah agree with that to, I look at a seasons pass at dalby as a bargain. especially if you do two trail building seasons and get one for free.
