I called up the mechanic this morning and he apologised because he had done the work before calling me and only realised afterward

Go in and quote that, Say there is no way you would go ahead with it for that cost.

Be nice and polite and see what happens.

What are the advantages of 69ers anyway? (Genuine question)

Rolls over stuff nicely, accelerates quickly. Vs a 26″ and a 29er.

    Its just a fun bike,

I have a 29er ridgid fork on my P7. I have been toying with the idea of picking up a second hand 29er front wheel just to give a go.

Its likely to work better with a 26″ rigid on a 26″ frame,

a 29er fork and wheel are often more than the frame can handle in length. (Some will get away with it.)

    My rigid singlespeed is 26lbs,

It rides as good after as it did before I weighed it.

I’m not going to let a digital screen tell me my bikes not right.

I’m looking at the version for the el mariachi. looks solid enough.

    This is another option:

    Old Man Mountain[/url]

Unsure of the pricing, they both seem a little steep, I get away nicely with a minimalist rack on the front and a topeak qr one on the rear.

I’m quiet happy with mudguards, come straight off when they can mind.

Road riding in a group, its inconsiderate not to ride with full guards,

MTB each to their own, it aint pretty, but neither is a brown strip up your arse.

Do you really want to be using any shop that doesn’t know the very laws it must operate within?

They probably know the laws very well, just a case of prolonging it until someone gives up.

I fully back DSR but you have to think at what point is it worth it. For me personally my time is worth more than the hassle of small claims, trading standards etc. Had it been an item of significant expense it would be a different matter.

I wonder what other laws they think don’t apply to them?

To get the best out of dalby go exploring. there are some fantastic sections in there, away from the sights and limits of the weekend warriors.

Ask in the Dalby Bike Barn for which bits/sections to ride and also some off-piste.

I have never taken anyone there who has come away disappointed. But then again I never follow the posts.

i can’t own a Spoon for more than a month without it creaking like an old barn door

I had this problem but have a new one and it has been fine.

Tried all sorts of saddles and end up going back to the spoon.

I think there is some small print somewhere about it being fit for resale. Which it isn’t without the packaging. Which differs from above.

Put it in the classifieds and buy another. IMHO not worth small claims/citizens advice for a small amount.

edit: nah got mixed up with t&c’s on a site.

Do Manufacturers Really Get Custom Forks ?

For example, my Trance came with a Fox F125RL Fork, which you can’t buy on its own

    Answered your own question.

Yes as most people put above OEM. The likes of Specialized, giant, trek etc have the buying power to call Fox up and say exactly what they want for what price and Fox will have a go at making it. So it fits how the brand wants the frame to ride and at the right price.

For mine, we planned a little bike ride round 5 pubs, (last putting food on for us)

all within 10 miles, with one epic hill (white horse bank North Yorks)

Great day, about 25 of us all in. we do it every year now.

Only cost what you where prepared Drink. So cost effective. Non cyclists loved it too.

Solicitor advised that if house is jointly owned the locks can’t be changed, surely this isn’t right?

    Hoping the STW legal experts

I know who I’d listen too,

+1 for call the police. If he’s violent the door will be coming down.

Agree. Let not let this happen again. Any mention of ‘gift’ —-> gets a ban.

    Agree with that,

I’m not sure. Accepting ‘normal’ but asking for any fees to be covered is probably ok.

People come on here to sell because they avoid ebay’s fee’s. The least they can do is accept the paypal fee. Or include it in the price.

Still doesnt make it acceptable though shep !

Never at all said it was acceptable, far from it. Just saying that if they read up on other people’s experiences of dealing with PP gift they might think twice about using it themselves.

Classified only user getting scammed by another classified user using paypal gift threads are as common now as 29er threads.

Maybe just maybe if they came onto the rest of the forum they would see the other threads from other “scammed classifieds only users” and learn from it.

I got some ronhill tail microlight pants cheap for around £25,

Waterproof, although not cycling specific they do the job and you can velcro the calf to keep it away from drive chain.

IMHO the uglier the bars the more comfortable they are.

I’ve settled with the Salsa bend 2 bars with 23deg sweep. But I also like the niner flat tops on my SS MTB.

As for grips, its hard to fault ergon.

The advice on non-slamming your stem is great advice also.

a lot of people slate it,

But i had a good day there with a few mates, had enough time in the day to fly round a few of the routes.

You’d be best waiting till its dryer though, parts get a bit boggy.

I think the thing with ‘Fat Bikes’ is they need to decide on their USP. Mostly the public is confused, that’s why people with fatty’s always say they get so much attention. “When ever I go out I get loads of people asking me about my bike!” – Yeah.. it’s because no one knows what they’re for!

They are ideally for snow and sand the USP over a standard bike, but there is no law to say they can’t be ridden in the woods.

salsa take rear racks but you need a salsa rack to fit the dropouts.

    the headtubes are ugly though!

Any fork of this age is going to have problems now, regardless of brand.

Take the time to get one that’s well serviced or just buy something newer.

Are they not part of DT now?

No, DT Swiss bought the rights to the forks, Pace still family run up in dalby. Just doing frames and rigids now.
