for £350 you could have a great time with mates in nicer b&b’s with plenty of drink on the sustrans route or just go to scotland and a weekend of riding. But you’d have to arrange it yourself.

If you’ve won the lottery what are you charging people for – Scrooge!

    Yeah!

If I had a trail centre I wouldn’t let anyone on it!

I do think it was flawed, but to say it was “Slave” labour like many have was an insult to anyone who had suffered actual slave labour.

There is nothing wrong with using paypal gift FFS!

Just use your head when buying anything off strangers regardless of payment method FFS!

Yeah don’t use any method where you have no comeback like Paypal Gift.

lift up your bars and go for a spin before you get rid of any of the bikes.

Adjusting your riding position makes a world of difference.

This is IMHO the best fixie/singlespeed tool, comes with wingnuts to fit to bottle cage mounts.

Only use QR if its what your wheel comes with. not worth changing.

Also I ran a slime inner tube in my commuter, worth the extra weight.

Not sure how you could get a tug to work backwards though.

My old Pace rc129 had slidey dropouts that worked opposite.

    NDS thread to pull forwards

DS not thread so the bolt pushed away.

Though it was well thought out.

I tried it, It was ok, but a turbo where you can alter resistance is much better in my opinion.

I use mine a bit on the turbo and can happily sit and watch a dvd, couldn’t on the rollers.

WTB Prowler comes in a amber wall. Like on the charge bikes.

Kenda also do one in 29er, Not sure if both are OEM though.

    Then of course Dugast 😉

    meanwhile in the real world.

people who like Evans still shop there people who don’t don’t.

In summer I use one and a water bottle rather than a camelbak on road and mtb.

Conti do a minimalist one with a tube and levers which is good. I have a Fizik one that’ll take a little more.

Fantastic place, Shame i’m not allowed back after an incident with Snow, an uppy downy bollard and fireworks 🙁

Kenya would be a good option, nice and cheap. You could afford a housekeeper to look after you and clean your bike.

It wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular, I don’t do arguing on the interwebz. The OP paid Evans to work on his bike. They gave it back to him faulty and dangerous. They have then failed to even acknowledge his complaint. I am merely expressing surprise at the number of people who have jumped down his throat and tried to belittle him.

    Fair play,

also why I said I wasn’t defending the incident, mechanics are there to fix stuff, he wanted something fixing.

I can cook a pizza, but i sometimes can’t be ar5ed and call Mario.

its got gears. take them off, leave the shifter on and tell no one.

don’t forget to tell the neighbour he looks fat and is out of shape.

I cannot understand how anyone on here is defending either the mechanic or Evans.

If that was aimed at me,

Drive to Kendal and kick of with the staff in the Evans there because A guy made a mistake in london.

I’ve had a go on one too, it was a really nice bike to ride.

If your never going to use a sus fork. Plenty of options with the bike.

It would be worth factoring in a larger volume tyre and better seatpost for a little more comfort.

I only ride a rigid and it only limits me on fast decents, I can’t keep up with the boys with suspension. But it evens out over a ride. Once you’ve got used to riding rigid and start picking lines it will become more comfortable to ride.

Not defending what happened here, but its unfair to tar all of Evans with the same brush, a lot of stores have great staff who do a decent job of both sales and repairs.

If one lbs made this mistake would you stop shopping at all independents?

Compare the 40 Evans stores with 40 random lbs shops and their wouldn’t be much difference at all.

around where i live its the opposite, not a 29er tyre in sight at LBS.
and 1 shop i visited told me that 26ers are still out selling wagon wheelers by about 15 – 1 in his shop.
29ers are still very much a niche thing out here in welsh valleys.

    +1 they have their place,

    tall people, XC and SS

I’m tall, ride XC and Singlespeed so they suit me down to the ground. Won’t go back unless i buy a Full Sus bike to play on.

I think my point is that we’re being sold/pushed the 29er thing,

    Yes that’s the one.

To answer your other question, Yes they can snap, got a nasty scar on my knee from borrowing a mates bike with a PC-1 on it. Link Snapped rather than the pin.

If a lot of force goes through a geared chain it can either snap a link or pull a link off a pin.

This is what I use: Izumi Track Chain Weight is last on my list of “wants” from a chain.

KMC cool lite or a good 9 speed.

    Spend some money as:

lightweight chain + SS + Hill = SNAAAAAAAP

Flashing lights get attention (eg drivers notice that you’re actually there, particularly against a backdrop of city lights, etc) but are hard to judge distance from. I tend to use two rear lights – one flashing, one constant for that reason.

    +1 on this,
