Do you have the same Shep?

No I have the black frame in charlie’s post.

Built it up with parts left over after my Pace died. Really pleased. The only downside is how low the front end is. So i have to run about 50mm spacers.

    eh?
Personally, I think it made perfect sense. They’ve now got 142 of them.

It was the posts above you, no reference to what bike and the random mumbling about fat bikes.

I have an el mariachi, (not for sale)

Best off the peg singlespeed frame I’ve tried.

I’d have probably bought a Selma if there was any at the time big enough though,

Just been speaking to a mate and his boss has a garage/man cave thing. He owns a mk 1 escort and has sofas, xbox and a fridge for beer in it… he also has a URINAL IN THERE!!! Not sure if i’d go that far.

Yeah i’m happy with just a telly.

I’m using the on-one hooks but going to have to look at something new now i have a tandem on the way.

    completely vary,

for me it would be cheaper to buy the frame as i have loads of parts.

But most of the time if its identical spec the bike will save you a couple of hundred quid.

    Dalby,

But I use it as a forest, rather than a follow the line trail centre.

although as much as I love exploring natural trails there are advantages to just turning up somewhere and riding a red route.

IMHO, if it was your shorts the leather would have gone before the seatpost clamp.

The grain of the wear is vertical, so does look like its from the saddle moving up and down as you put your weight on it.

Its not a great idea running your saddle that far back for lots of reasons, most saddles have guidelines on the rails.

Shep, you need to keep an eye on that. It looks like they are holding it together with tape. Rubbish

Yeah they where quick to sort that, it was a Taiwanese kid they had on work experience. 🙄

I’m having a bike built by 18 Bikes, more than happy to pay good money for it,

The service alone is worth the extra. Its down to little things like how do YOU want this… How would YOU like XXXX to be…

I really enjoyed sitting with the guys, discussing what I wanted, what parts where to go on. Its so much more than just an off the peg frameset.

    I get updates like this:

as the build goes on, dead exciting.

    personally blue for the win,

I’d get the forks and stem done also.

    Singlespeed_Shep

Buy the bar first and try it with your stem, Unless your old stem isn’t oversize.

If you buy a bike on interest free credit, doesn’t the credit company own or have rights to it till its paid off?

Now mikewsmith that is an issue. Why do people pay often lots of money for team or shop kit? I like plain stuff with even the manufacturers logo as small and subtle as possible. They ought to pay you for riding with a shop name allover your back!

I have a few bits of Giordana kit with my LBS on it. But its cheaper than buying “Off the shelf” kit.

Doesn’t bother me one bit wearings someones logo. If i like the look of it I’ll buy it.

Anyone knows a 29er is commonly regarded as best with a short stem and wide bar, to quicken up and stablize the front end.

Mine handles loads better with its 700mm bars and 120mm stem.

Not every bikes suits 800mm wide gold spank bars and a 50mm renthal stem like MBUK recommend.

Specialized’s Epic has a spec thats very similar. I’d be surprised if many 100mm 29ers aren’t.

Just because it has a dropper doesn’t mean its a trail bike, its there to sell bikes.

Far more practical that bloody great baggies that get in the way.

I’m a big fan of both,

Nice warm tights, Then waterproof baggies over the top to keep my rear dry.

Bollocks, whats best to get beer out of a keyboard?

    Straw, suck really hard.

I once met a Tai lass who could suck a golf ball through a hosepipe. She also made great frames.

    Like this nonsense:

If you’re an engineer, WTF didn’t you build it yourself?

    MTFU & STFU

    Oh dear.

Come on now, No need for that.

We need nonsense, without it this forum would be a very boring place.

When you skip all the crap, this is a terrible experience.

Name and shame, will clean their act up. Ever looked on trust pilot or review center? people kick off for a lot less.

My favorite personal experience was a customer claiming I had sold him a fake Wilson tennis racket all down to the fact he had used it for a season and the “W” was wearing off the strings. Wilson sent him a letter explaining it was a genuine racket and this happens, We even offered a few re-string to shut him up. but we still got abuse in every forum, on his blog, a letter from his solicitor etc.

Common sense says just check a bike before a big event, but that’s not the issue. The fact someone doesn’t take pride in their work is.

I’m happy with north yorkshire, bridleway at the bottom of the garden onto the moors,

Dales are 25 mins away, lakes are an hour and half away.

Also three trail centers within an hour.

Any excuse to post this. Not much ‘better’ and it’s a pro rider’s bike

    IS that Josh Benders bike?

I remember his old videos, Always along the lines of:

Here’s a massive cliff I’m going to ride off it.

He used to wear 2 chest protectors and MX boots, The bike was probally pedaled 10 yards.

Eventually, after six years, the post doesn’t slip anymore.

    Has it seized in place?

There is something worse than a customer bringing a load of 2nd hand bike parts and new bits in.

The guys that come in claiming to be “engineers” telling you how the Canyon they bought is way better designed than the brands you stock. Then hand you a wiggle bottle and ask you to fill it up. Good job they can’t see the tap 😈

Or just people who walk in and start a conversation with “i’m an engineer…..”

It would cost them nothing as they charge 40% of the RRP

Spec UK haven’t made any money on it either.

they get a reputation for “Good sevice”

Depends, if i was a specialized Uk retailer, I’d be a bit miffed if they kept honoring warranties for people who buy from outside the UK.

    Homebrewed for the win,

Those forks on the Orange look like cheapo lowers with some crafted stanchions.

The other looks like MX ones.

Is that a centrepin fishing reel routing the chain on the kona?

I’d of thought that Spesh would at least do a crash replacement for you.

They more than likely would if the frame was bought in the UK. But considering the OP deliberately bi-passed them then why should they. They have no obligation too.

Customer Support/warranty/service etc is built into the price. If you don’t pay it don’t expect to receive it.

Just ride, if you don’t get up a hill no worries try again next time, you get up it at some point. Enjoy the simplicity.

I ride 35-19 on my 29er and its always the wrong gear. That’s fine because everyother set of cogs is wrong as well.

I find marketing bull#### helps a great deal, clown wheels and funny shaped chainrings. 😉

    Accuracy of information

We put a lot of time and effort into describing and photographing the products we sell using manufacturer’s websites, catalogues, our own photography studio and often our own descriptions of the products.

Although we aim that every picture and description is 100% accurate, mistakes do occur so let us know if you see or read something that isn’t correct. If you’ve purchased something based on a picture or description on the website which turns out to be incorrect we’ll happily replace or refund the product.

    Sh1t happens,

    Oh and TART!

my current bike has plenty of marketing bullsh!t I don’t really care. Its a great bike to ride.

I’m sure I’ll pay more than I have to for plenty of products in the years to come.

Exactly the same happened to me, but they picked up on it in a couple of days, (they kept me in hospital) as my ankle was the size of a melon. but at first wouldn’t x-ray it. Hobbled round on it in this time. I ended up being in for 18 days. (they had to then let the swelling drop before they could operate) 🙄

I now have plenty of pins in my right ankle and suffer badly in the cold and wet with pain from my ankle.

I have looked along lines of compensation, but due to me being keep in for observation nothing I can do.

Check your not likely to get arthritis etc. I’m suffering badly at times. Which is crap considering I’m not yet 30.

now i am not having a go at the more fashionable seller, i am just wondering if we are being had over by most some bike companies.

sadly happens in all walks of life. Paying for the brand.

BUT just because its made from the same metal doesn’t mean its just as good.

I actually agree with you there Junky – its been a bugbear of mine with organisations like the National Trust for years, completely skewed the market for countryside jobs.

The biggest thing that has hit countryside jobs in the last century is technology.

Forestry, agriculture etc can now work acres with one machine it took days by hand.

As thisisnotaspoon said national trust/english heritage/national parks are doing a good job of employing people and keeping the countryside open to the public.
