If you can look at one with more offset like the G2 Geometry, (pretty sure theirs is 51mm)

A 100-120mm fork with a 29er front wheel would be better.

So what you’re telling us here is that the economic crisis was actually caused by the poor? Well that’s certainly a revelation.

Only half of it was caused by the poor, the other half of the problems where caused by the rich.

But there is a huge amount of incorrect twaddle floating around these debates people’s opinions on what suits them and should suit everyone else because everyone else is wrong.

It goes something like this, bike company marketing man sits in an office thinking of ways to push new product because sales have dropped due to bikes not really changing much over the last half a decade or so

Its a shame all the simple folk on her can’t come up with anything better than “its just marketing bull”

Cannondale used to spec their Small womens road bikes with 650c wheels then 700c in the larger frames.

I thought this was a good system.

There is nothing wrong with any of the wheel sizes in there ideal applications. I think this will come through in a year or so. The magazines are just jumping on the latest bandwagons so they look fresh and with it.

I agree that’s its a bit odd. But most forums have a signiture anyway.

Warrantied frames, would explain no shocks..

Which sadly means there is a good chance they are dead 🙁

Al, look at the Kinvara’s from Saucony or any of the Asics “Natural” range.

but it doesn’t make 29’ers the must have/holy grail for everyone.

    Who said that?

I’d seriously think twice about changing kit that works before a marathon.

I love the feeling of barefoot shoes and use them for the odd short run, but realistically the Asics Gel Attracts I use 99% of the time mean I can run faster for longer.

You are allowed to forefoot strike in regular shoes.

There are plenty of 0mm drop shoes with 12mm+ of cushioning also. These are a better option for most runners than barefoot shoes.

No different to one course suiting a 6″ travel bike and another suiting a 8″ travel bike.

The sport only becomes unacceptable for the average person if you only want the “factory jackson” pro look complete with £4k bike.

A £1k 2nd hand bike would be fine for a start.

    Are they coming from behind?

‘Barefoot’ runner hear and I don’t think i slap slap, as I do generally run pretty light.

Slapping is poor technique often because they still heel strike and then “slap” their toes down.

I like square taper BB’s they last longer and you get a free axle.

Natural and Barefoot are different things,

Natural Running is simply running in a zero drop shoe, anything from the 4mm sole of the Vibrams to the 10mm of shoes like some Saucony/Asics.

Barefoot is either running barefoot or running in a shoe with very limited padding on the sole, Vibram, Vivo etc

You’ll always be best moving to a zero drop shoe with cushioning before a barefoot shoe. It helps develop your muscles and is more forgiving.

I’ve just put some on and rode them over the weekend, Bombing round the local woods.

    Really pleased with them.

Isn’t there an aesthetic balance between wheel and frame?

I always struggle to get past a medium on a 26 MTB because anything bigger looks like a gate.

I agree with this, I’ve always been between around a 21″ish frame so the biggest benefit to me is that 29″ wheels make my bike look normal.

They’re likely to be riding whatever wheel size their sponsor is currently pushing.

    Just to play devils advocate.

What’s going to be more appealing to a customer,

A bike that wins races or one that sits at the back.

The top riders are only going to use big wheels if it works and they go faster. If not they’ll stick with 26″ and sell plenty of them.

I like the look of the alloy one.

I used to have a 6″ travel bullet built with the 151mm boxxers and did a bit of downhilling on it. It was a fantastic bike. Its strange to see how they have come on now.

Like gears but none of the convenience and none of the problems

seen a few bikes with it on for the above, round the world etc. Tis handy if your only dropping a tooth or two. If more you’ll need the ability to adjust chain tension by a fair bit.

what sort of face are you pulling?

I find the big poo face on tough rough climbs helps a lot more than the hot soup face (which i leave for the smoother climbs)

Its all about which muscles you are using.

I have an El Mariachi Fully rigid as my only bike.

Ride it anywhere I’d ride any other bike.

The only limitation is I’m slightly slower on the rocky descents. But I don’t race so not really too fussed.

Weight is around 24lbs at a guess,

Its always worth asking the shop nicely.

If no ask if they’ll do a deal on a new chain.

In my experience, and I get approached to build a lot of prototype and experimental things, the problem really is that most “bike designers” don’t have much of a budget.

    I agree.

I’m constantly coming up with stupid ideas for bikes, I’m glad of two things,

    1. I don’t have the money.
    2. A framebuilder would talk me out of it. (36er FS SS Fatbike)

I had a little car park spin on a black sheep softail a year or so ago. I suppose it counts a FS. It was a great bike.

I’d buy a Ti FS I really like the look and finish of ti.

As for waste of money, most of mountain biking is.

i would’nt trust buying a valve cap from my local shop, i wanted to support them but they tried to fob me off with incorrect overpriced stuff too many times. sad but true.

Not surprised if you have to buy valve caps.

I though we had finished off all these bike shops….

Almost, Sportspursuit are here to finish off the rest.

    6’2″ with 34″ inside leg,

I had 58cm Pacer and Cross check. Fit was spot on with 110mm stem and long drop bars. Reckon i could have gone to 60cm but happy with the 58.
