Talk to the guys you ride with.

I ride with a guy who’s T1. I was gutted when I found out he was concerned that he would hold us up etc. I’d rather ride with him than without.

If there the sort of people who are bothered by it **** em, not the sort of people I’d want to spend time with.

How much of 29ers going faster is the fact that if you run the same gear range as a 26er you are effectively running higher gears and therefore go faster?

It doesn’t work as simple as that, 29ers roll faster. Once moving less effort is needed.

I think since the primary reason for me mountain biking is that it is fun then smoothing everything out is not so important. I ride my hardtail instead of my full suss as it is more fun

    yet you have suspension.

Get in touch with an Orange dealer who has a lighter demo of the alpine.

Give it a ride and see how it feels, see what parts are lighter on it.

But a good start in my eyes would be cassette/chain and shock.

Lots of great developments in bike technology over the last 20 years, tiny changes to wheel size isn’t one of them

What because it doesn’t affect you? and the boys that bought into the 150mm full suss.

To a tall xc riders like me this is up there with suspension and disc brakes as far as developments go.

20mm extra travel on a full sus – no benefit
    dropper post – no benefit
super wide bars – no benefit

Why are you two so insanely pleased about this? It’s a victory for marketing and yet another pointless new standard.

The fact we don’t don’t ride the same bikes as we did 20 years is a victory for “marketing”.

I have a pair of them,

I’ve got nobby nic’s on at the mo, and some bontys for summer. Never had problems with them.

Which halo rim do you have?

It might be worth picking a tyre you want to use then thickening the fluid with glitter.

Not worth getting a crap tyre because it fits the rim well.

What they need is a chunky hybrid.

+1 It would suit 90% of uk riders.

But they believe the marketing hype that they need 150mm travel, retro wheels, seatposts that go up and down by themselves, Helmets with no vents and matching anodized parts.

I love how wound up people get over wheel size.

If nobody ever accepted dodgy paintwork, and they all went back and were unsellable, they would soon sort out their paintwork process and not send out anything that wasn’t right.

    Same goes for any defect.

that’s a fair point, but 100% perfect production is nearly impossible even to bespoke manufactures.

If the factory misses the defect it won’t be noticed till it gets to the shop and the box is opened. Often this happens when the customer is in store.

In Mass product its very likely that more than one frame would have paint issues. It affects ALL manufactures.

So to have 2 identical frames with the same defect isn’t out of the ordinary. They would have been made in the same batch.

I think the shop did the right thing if i’m honest.

Replace 1st one with defect with a 2nd. Customer turns up 2nd has same defect. Offer a discount/free products if the customer wants it. Customer may want to ride it the next day and be happy with the extra goods/discount.

Think they need to worry about them being accurate first. There’s one near me where the KOM doesn’t even follow the segment for a significant part.

Its the only issue I have, Nothing to do with winning, but the fact some sections in the woods near me that have been singletrack for years have multiple lines.

When I used to “race” my tactic was to get to the back early on and then I found I didn’t have these problems.

SSS – does a public body paying minimum wage the using public funds to top that up with benefits not seem a little odd to you? Or just plain deranged?

    Yes,
I think minimum wage should be raised higher regardless, Why pay someone twice.

The old lefty that I am finds it difficult to understand why multimillion profit-making companies pay staff minimum wages then let the taxpayer make-up the shortfall with benefits. Subsidised labour, obviously.

A lot of the public sector pay minimum wage too, its not only the nasty corporations. You can always rise up through most of them, just so many people are happy sitting at the bottom and complaining about it.

Even worse when it’s that stupid slave labour thing that been going on.

LOL, I do laugh at this sort of comment. Yes it wasn’t the most ethical way of getting people into work. But please don’t compare it to slave labour. Its and insult to anyone who has truly experienced slave labour through history.

I’d say the only issue is the cost and hassle of sending it back if there is a problem. But I think that’s unlikely.

Oh and like above, the plug.

but we are all racing, so expecting someone to dismount and stand in the bushes to let riders past when there’s no room is a bit much.

I found that races aren’t that bad, as racing spilt people into ability categories. Its the non-competitive events that are a problem.

Its not to far from me, I’ve ridden most of the trails round there and into Cropton forest, There are some nice bits.

What are you looking for? Natural trail riding or trail center gnarr following signs?

I had a great time. Shame it was so busy, but still got to see al sorts.

Met Paul of Paul components and got a few goodies. Nice bloke and countless other people.

The bikes on 18bikes stand where really nice, but I am biased.

Shand’s bikes like above where stunning.

I also really liked the Rouke “Isobele” girls bike.

    Good day all in.

Meanwhile…Radio 1 are to play only a clip of Ding-Dong – contained in a news item – in the chart show.

Proof that if you sit on the fence you get splinters up your chuff.

I think they made the right decision, they where never going to listen.
Although I don’t listen to radio 1 and find everything they generally play offensive.

O/T: Football consider a silence? On a recent Leeds visit to Sheffield I bet some Sheffield residents wish that football was played behind closed doors (sadly).

That game was a disgrace and is to be replayed this weekend. It won’t be fun in Leeds this sat.

The price will drop like it did on the reverb after a few months, They’d be daft to start at such a low price.

That used to be the price of some decent forks, when did everything get so expensive.

The two main issues I have are:

    1. People partying at someones funeral.
    2. Getting a state funeral.

both could have been solved by a private funeral.

Seen them only plenty of touring bikes esp ones with butterfly bats, that do serious miles. They do feel comfy but I’ve not put any miles on them to confirm.

I have however used the specialized gel pads that go under bar tape and they are excellent.

AS I have already said, I won’t be dancing on any graves but to spend such public money on burying a wealthy woman from a wealthy background is obscene.

    +1

Personally I think its wrong to jump up and down at someones death. I’ll think its a great shame if there is a big kick off at her funeral. Take your party elsewhere.

I know a lot of people who think she is a vile Women, but being Vile and disrespectful achieves nothing.

    Don’t use strava personally,

But a good friend had a KOM whilst out on a ride. The next day the previous “King” drove to the climb rode up and down it, claimed his KOM back and drove to the next next climb.
