    Are my expectations to high?

    – Yes

1, Its monday morning, the busiest time of the week is the weekend, They could have sold out over the weekend, suppliers don’t open let alone ship over a weekend so no chance of stocking up on them.

2, Its niche item. sorry but waterproof trousers aren’t a high turnover item (like bib-shorts/high-vis jackets) so doesn’t make sense to stock large quantities or prioritize floor space over other items that are.

3, Its been belting it down.

4, why didn’t you check Evans website or call the shop.

5, google earth their warehouse. imagine that on Cardiff High Street

IMHO you’d have got the same experience just walking into any altura or endura stockist without checking first.

“I will tack nearest offer thinks for interest”.

Its on a phone, dead easy for autocorrect to tack over. Look at how many people also get teh and the mixed up

Although ebay mobile has made things more convenient it has made listings become poorer than ever.

Are there any UK MTB journos who we can actually trust anymore?

This 650b thing has reflected badly on the whole industry, but I reckon it’s the credibility of the MTB media that will be the biggest loser.

Its always been like this, new fads, bells and whistles. Bike brands trying to make money. I don’t blame them really and I’m amazed people are only starting to pick up on it.

Decent baselayers, even in summer. They soak up sweat and less to clean up after your “cool down”

I’d also probally look at shorter ride in and longer home if you get sweaty.

edit: Ton +1 Mudguards – Stops smelly shite ending up on your from the road.

aren’t all threads pretty much “talk to me threads” but most don’t put it in the title.

Theres always complaining about there being too many XY or Z threads. Don’t Read em!

I have a hope trails hub and have used them for years, Marginally stronger wheel build than standard hub due to wider spacing of spokes.

Would I notice anything over a standard hope pro 2 hub? probs not.

If you have horizontal dropouts the Allen Bolt Axles are a major bonus.

    Should have gone to bikemongers…

Thinking about it that could be a great sticker!! (Although no help to you)

Was the bike customised? Ie, bars cut, any change of components, (by the retailer)

the sad thing is i was going to use the refund as a deposit for my next bike until they started being awkward and then i lost confidence in them

did you ask for a refund or exchange?? as these are different.

It does sound like the shop is being a little awkward but a lot of the time if both parties are perfectly clear with what they want this can be avoided.

Go singlespeed, start with a rear cog that is just about do-able to get up the hill. After a week or so it’ll improve your fitness. Then change to another cog if you fancy.

If its less than 5k, a little spinning on the flat/freewheeling shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

So i’m guessing you’ll be able to pretty much freewheel to work, and get your workout on the way home?

    Any reason why??

    There may be better options.

I don’t believe the options above are compatible, they are just XX1 copies.

    Are you cranks like these:

If you look around you can get other chainrings that are sram compatable.

I’m pretty sure a guy I know has one of these:

But 500 miles in a wet winter could destroy a lot of parts.

This bike has argyle lowers and u-turn Pike uppers.

Take the forks apart, you have nothing too lose. I’ve seen a few pairs (Although not for a while) like above.

Buck the marketing trend BS and buy a 29″the best bike, not a wheelsize

If your looking at using 26″ parts on a 650b frame double check your forks will be the right length, it could throw out your head angle.

A bit of sun for me, but mud and gloop everywhere 🙁

Was knacked after 15 miles and went to the pub.

I have, If you have a search on here loads also do.

I prefer it with a sus fork for general riding. It currently has gears but I’ve played with loads of combinations, very versatile bike.

The only complaints I have are the low front end and lack of rack mounts.

And yes, the last incident I witnessed involved 2 soldiers walking past a man begging. They swore and spat at him. When he stood up one of them punched him so hard he lost consciousness and fell backwards hitting his head on the kerb. He started fitting and was attended by a couple of bystanders and me.

I suppose its similar to the attitude “I saw a cyclist jumping a red light, weaving through people crossing the road then cutting down a footpath so all cyclists are ****”

So what does a soldier do on a base when not marching, shooting guns, and polishing painting stuff and how come theyre not called out straight away in a civil emergency.

    Marching, Shooting – Training
Polishing – Making sure all their kit is 100% ready

^^ Fair play to me. Short of sending them out to start a war I can’t really see what else they can do.

Its simple all driving needs to be improved, not just for cyclist but for everyone.

Most days i’ll be sat in my car driving too or from work because of a accident.

What seperates a 1/8 chain from the otter chains?

Size, It relates to width, 1/8″ and 3/32″ are the singlespeed/bmx sizes. These are wider than your 9 speed chain. Wider ones are generally stronger but heavier unless you go for something posh like KMC’s Light.

Your nine speed will be fine though,

    Sprokets:

Wider base: (slightly more expensive but less likely to damage your freehub)

Thin: (These easily dig into freehubs, esp hope)

I have had problems getting 9 speed chains to work on the 1/8″ cogs but I do know of people who haven’t so i’d probally to play safe go for a 3/32″ cog.

Look for one to match your front ring, 32t up front and 16t at the back is a good start for 26″ wheels, 32-18 for 29er.

Anything made from a decent polyamide will do a good job of keeping you dry. Also slightly more expensive ones with bodymapping will help (tight in the right places and vents on armpits and upper back). Man made fibres are far superior to merino.

Cool or summer baselayers (String Vests) are also really worth looking at if your warm under your jacket as these will soak up the sweat and dry quickly.

The top ones I’ve found are:

    Craft Zero Extreme or Warm
    Odlo Evolution
    Under Armour Cold Gear

If your feeling warm look at Crafts Cool Superlight Sleeveless and just wear it under a jersey with your jacket.

In the last 4 years I’ve never ridden without a baselayer.

As above, Could be easily genuine or selling products they don’t stock (not an issue if they are honest)

Unless your a 1 man band its near impossible to keep a 100% stock record, 100% of the time.

I would have expected an email fairly quickly though to say what’s happening.

I see, so you can just swap the rotor for a cog and flip the wheel?

Yes its a velosolo one, uses the same bolts as the rotor. I’ve used it on a fixed gear bike and worked a treat, never needed to use it on the mtb yet. Just gives an extra option for little weight. Also Handy if freewheel goes pop!

I just ride my normal bike. I’ll take my chances and just ride back with one brake or use the disc mount fixed cog a leave in my frame bag.

Just respond to the case saying you will give a 100% refund once he has returned them if he’s not happy.

    This ^^^

I had similar happen to me, Over a MX helmet that the buyer claimed the liner was the wrong colour to factory standard(Despite photos), He wanted £90 for a new pad kit, He paid £150 for the helmet.

I stood my ground with the “If your not 100% satisfied I will give you a full refund”

Helmet came back and I resold it. Can’t remember exactly if I had to pay his return postage or not now, But sure I just refunded the original transaction.

I can’t see how ebay can enforce a partial refund if your offering a full refund for return of the item.

Not at all. Thats why I enjoy road biking. Repeatedly pedaling along the flat between berms is crap.

You need bigger wheels 🙂 26″ or bigger will be better than your bmx.

I like the specialized classics, Stumpjumper, epic etc. The system of expert/pro etc is good for letting you know where you stand in the range.

My favourites though are Vassago, Bandersnatch, Jabberwockey – I like how they roll off the tongue 🙂

    Worst – Numbers

These guys may be able to help[/url]

    Or

The standard STW carbon repair response:

If i was doing myself though i’d get someone with a lathe to make a 33.7mm – 31.6mm shim and glue that in place. Rather than messing with the inside of the frame any more.

    Really enjoyed GT,

Worth trying as many runs as possible regardless of the grade. Last time I was there we spent the day on red/black doing fun sections twice a few breaks at the buzzards nest. Then finished with a bit of the blue which was surprising great fun.

wrap the seatpost in a towel (or something else to protect it)

Clamp in vice and use the frame as leverage to turn it.

Pleased to see they have reflectors on the pedals. I wouldn’t want them to get in trouble.
