I’ve a springer who love coming with me …..he didn’t seem to need much training I just went out on my own with him for a few months and went at his pace ……he runs in front of me it’s handy if you have a hope hub cos he keeps going until he hears it go silent and then knows to look around or slow down a bit
Funny as I’m having the same dilemma ……going in favour of the mukluk at the moment as I want it as a bikepacking bike and would like to run it as single.speed.
I was going to press the buy button……but not sure now as the lack of single speed and if you want more than 10 gears no front mech fitment …also not sure the lack of chain retention device is a good thing ….as I run just one gear up front on my other bikes and always need on ………
TBH…….. YOU need to be 29er specific to ride one properly ………..the trouble is not everyone IS 29er specific …and that’s where you get the problem with disgruntled wanna-be’s. 😉
Having ridden a fair few times in Europe ..( which seems to be biking heaven) when coming back to the UK ……I think why bother riding on the road in this very over crowded country especially with the attitude of most car drivers ….I see the appeal in track days but not road riding for pleasure ….all IMHO of course.
I regularly get about 2 days from mine as well ….when I’ve been camping (no rechargeable power source )I’ve managed 3.5 days ……….but that’s stretching it
Weeksy….like I said before I think your problem was the wheels …I used the wheels from my Xtc and put them on the Yelli. and it wandered like you mentioned until I had them rebuilt properly ,they’ve been fine since….I didn’t notice this problem on the Xtc..
In response to weeksy…..I’ve also had an Xtc 29er and to be honest I thought the rear on that was flexy to the point you could hear the rear disc rubbing on switchbacks …..but the stearing on the Giant is super quick …almost to the point of tankslappers when it gets fast and rough ……..but that’s it……..one is mostly xc based and the other is more trail based
This is a bit like a 26er v 29er thread now ……each side just defending what their personal preference is ……..when both do pretty much the same job …… 😆
