thanks everyone. DM sent prezet. please tell me it’s a medium?

i do have fairly light wheels. hope hubs. They’re B+ at the moment, which i like, and suits my abilities and terrain quite well. 29 would ‘work’ better, but i don’t like the feel of the steering so much, tho i am going to experiment to see if i can stop noticing. this is another reason i want to try the hightower, as it’s made for both.

terrain is pretty rough, with round stones as opposed to pointy. i like to be able to work hard on the climbs, but like to feel i’m not lugging extra weight as well.

yes covid definately seems to be impacting 2nd hand market too, tho maybe not as much aas i thought. there were a couple for sale a month or so ago, but typically, since i’ve got hte money together, there have been none

i wouldn’t say geo is WAY outdated, tho sure, a little. i’ve kinda had to decide not to care too much about that, as my budget isn’t that big, so i can’t necessarily aford something new enough.

thanks folks, that reminds me i have an old router (we mean wireless router here i take it) but no power supply for it andsetting it up look beyond my abilities, having watched a couple of vids.

so if i want an off the peg plug-and-play option i search wifi access point?

ok fine, thanks everyone. I don’t care that much about keeping it. hoping not to need one next frame anyway.

little bump as i could do with a bit more help.
but im thinking take it apart and, starting with power board, check for visible damaged circuitry. and clean out any guff obviously. sound about right?

    ok, latest update:

I’ve checked the power supply properly this time (thanks jam-bo!). it’s giving 20V as intended.

I’ve removed the battery, keeping plugged-in, and held down the power button.

and i’ve found the reset pin hole and given it a longish press, plugged in and no battery.

none of these has had any effect. the thing is still a door stop, showing no signs, not even that it has mains power ( flashing red LED normally).

so what would be my next course of action? I’m fine with getting it apart.

cougar, i use it exclusively on the table, the fancomes on only rarely, it doesn’t ‘seem’ to get hot much, which doesn’t rule out thermal shut down i guess…

it’s the power pack that’s new (genuine lenovo) not the computer!

any possible problems if i press reset button?

looks snice! i noticed quite a few of the frames second hand. reckon i might end up with one. partly just as they fit most of my geometry criteria at a price i can afford.

anyone any theories why there were so many 2nd hand frames?

right, plenty of answers there, only some of which i needed : )

    another question:

i’ve got a big bundle of cable which is 10 core, 1mm section looks like.
assuming it’s not too big for the plugs, any reason not to use it?
the colours will be wrong, all the wires seem to be fine, and it’ll all be out of sight

Criminal thisiscriminal.com not always gritty true crime, butsome excellently bizarre stories. especially liked the plane hijack episode.

Hurricane (story of Rueben Carter as in Bob Dylan song) from the beeb if you liked Crypto Queen. similar production.

also not true crime, but i liked Tunnel 29 from BBC too. East berlin escape story

yes a MoCo damper does fully lock out.

    anyway yes it’s a Charger 2 RC, not RC2.

so that’s fine, i just wanted to check it wasn’t knackered.

    most fun hardtail i’ve ridden.
one of the reasons is there seems to be a huge margin between having grip, and having lost it completely.

i found mine more fun with 80mm blutos that 100mm.
without blutos just wasn’t feasible for trail riding round me, which is fairly rough.

i’m now selling as i’ve not used it on snow once since i bought it (one of the excuses for buying it) and becasue there are just too many thorns around me and i’m constantly battling to keep the tyres up.

(it’s a Calibre dune size ‘large’ [not that large] with or without blutos if interested 😉

you could try owatrol rust treatment which just penetrates everything, stopping rust, but dries clear.
oil based and can be painted over with oil-based paint/varnish/laquer, tho i haven’t done that myself.
give the inside of the frame a swill around with it too.

i don’t think it chemically converts the rust, so any existing rust stays rust coloured, if that’s relevant
