It never ceases to amaze me the private stuff people are prepared to talk about on on open forum……law breaking, tax evasion, what next I wonder????

T5`s of the 1.9 flavour have poor gearboxes. When mine failed at 62K VW were to paraphrase “yes and what should WE do about it????”
Dont buy on reliability its a hoax.
    Powersteering pump,turbo relief valve,gearbox and assorted electrical niggles on a 57 plate…..
Buy a big japanese people carrier instead

How about wearing what complies with the rules? Problem being different organisers have different rules. Steps are afoot(apparently) to get one set of rules for UK (BC sanctioned) enduros. Until then select your headgear wisely.
Oh by the way, TP 2009, open faced helmet(Xen), full gloves no kneeguards.. 😉

Fabulous week,on a hardtail too! The only time I had any thoughts about harshness was on the rock step section on Col des Champs, but I was soon distracted so had to concentrate on riding once more…
Has anybody put the "new" word on Wikipedia yet? 😉

So what,if you or your neighbours cat has broken one, Im perfectly happy with mine, and having ridden with lots of people of very varied abilities,I still say its the rider not the bike….

Why dont you want to run a 2.7? Why do you choose to run a narrower rear?
It sounds as if you have already half made a decision…
Personally I wouldnt use a high roller for "extra" climbing but that`s my choice, too "draggy" once it starts to get worn, from experience

    Same bike, same dilemma.!
Solved with NC17, working well, finish still intact after mudfests of the summer!
Had EA50 and Thomson and finish wasn`t any better on either of those

Having spent 6 months in the place, I can say, any fire road climbing, should be easy because the roads have to be passable for 40+ tonnes timber wagons.
Any of the much lauded "new red trail" and older Deadwater stuff is surfaced in sandstone.

Oh and the woodwork corner mentioned earlier, there is a short cut that misses it out.
Don`t go looking for Flo though, shes retired

its called mountain biking not getting off and pushing biking

If you want to walk you should`ve taken the 4 legged best friend, not the 2 wheeled one!

For those unfamiliar with the concept, this is called humour

As long as it`s FFC recognised? It has for Maxxis cups amongst other things, just ask BC for a covering letter.

its a bit of a lump to climb
Strange… mine positively romps up hills. Fantastic on the downs with a <cough>mm fork on the front too! Or is it because mine`s a 520;)

You’re North of Hadrians wall therefore Technically in Scotland

No not technically Scotland at all, unless the south of England is still France!!!!

    Northumberland is not Scottish!!

Lots of good riding in and around Rothbury..you just need to know where to look…..but I would say that! 😉
Seriously, try tim@northumberlandbikebreaks.com, very helpful indeed

Get one made out of steel!
Far more forgiving than any of the Aluminium “burly” hardtails. I had a Planet X Armadillo and thought it was quite good until I decided to get a PA. Now that IS fun

In a couple of tests the Commencal has been a heavier bike, but it doesn`t feel that way when being ridden

Run a 2.3 Ignitor on the the rear and a Minion 2.35 on the front. Ignitor is way way skinnier than minion but rolls very nicely, although when they loose their “edge” they quickly become a waste of tyre

    How it worked LAST YEAR:
It is basically sections (of descending) that are timed. You have to be on the start line at your appointed time. At the end of the competitive section, you ride the fire road to the start of the next section. Timing was quite slack last year so it may be tightened up this time.
If you want to wear a fullface or an xc you make the choice, but I recall that you may have to be helmeted on the fire road too.

I decided to buy one when I came home last year….with speakers in the earflaps just so I didn`t have to keep putting earpieces back in my ears, and they keep you warm.
