From what I remember, its hardly sinuous singletrack….Also as its the Scottish side of the border, its  multi user. Also I as I have seen it advertised as a “two directional” route

It will be as sloppy as a very sloppy thing, between Quarry house and Old Bewick… Enjoy yourselves 😀

I wouldn`t recommend swapping anything out… swap over, or change whatever you like, but NEVER swap out….

So lets get this right, a bloke goes on a public forum to comment/complain/moan about something that has happened to him.
Lots of people offer him help/suggestions/an explanation as to how to move forward..
The original complainant tries to justify acceptiung ANY of the help given….
Isn`t the internet a great place..

    Help me I`m drowning!
Let go of the bricks you are carrying?
    No, I don`t want any help…

The wooded stuff is steep and very tight in places. Weather before the event can affect the stuff in the trees easily (just because it can thats why 🙂 )
Moorland stuff mostly grazing land, but nothing is marked on the ground currently. But it does have the chance of being fast as….. a fast thing in a downward direction
I hope this helps reassure you that will be a great event

I am nothing to do with the organisers by the way, I just know the area 😀

£90 to race BDS and you have to have a BC Racing licence

To compete in ANY BC endorsed road event you need a licence…MTB has it easy

    This:

Dial your xt levers closer to your bar. You will find it easier to modulate them

Thats another reason why they fit span adjusters….

It will drag lots more, and when you are braking it won`t grip as much either…noticeably…Yes I did try it once, on a boring afternoon…. 🙂

When you car is stolen, they don`t offer you vouchers, or a replacement (okay a couple of insurers might… ) so why should you have to accept that for a bike?

We’re just done with autumn, winter has started and summer is still 6 months away!

At least we`ll be able to see the mud and rain when we go out in the evening rather than it just being a sensory experience

BITD when 8 speed was king and chains were considerably cheaper, I would change them religiously every 3 months. Cassettes lasted years
I am currently on my second chain on an MX3 that is 6 months old (original snapped a fortnight ago, no skipping YET…….)

As for the OP`s choice of title.
Kenta Gallagher, 10th Commonwealth games Glasgow.
Eliminator World Cup in Nove Mesto in 2013.
He did it off his own back…
He chose to walk away from XC World cups for something he prefered. He was riding for a team, had a bike and walked away from it through choice.

Which way round do you go? Clockwise or anti clockwise?

Personally I`d ride it clockwise, but either way they are doing some bits back to front 😉

As a courier who collects parcels……. I collected an item one day, a bit heavy, but completed everything that need be on the doorstep, returned to depot…..Scanning it in,I noticed the label, <1kg printed on it, so the customer had paid a couple of quid to send what felt like a dozen bricks….When senders are taking the pi55 like this do you not think something should be done?

Id imagine it would get to the point were churning the gear would be slower than getting off and walking though.

I realise that, but if I wanted to go for a walk, I`d take a dog not my bike 😉
I`d rather winch and be seated, than walk and push

When WE did it, we had a practice one week, then the real thing the next….If the child is smart enough on the day surely there is no problem. Similarly if you make them work at it and they pass, then turn up at said education establishment and struggle because the “natural” talent isnt there?? Just saying 😉

Strangeley it wouldnt be a complete bike….why, because I`m happy with everything thats on it, however, I would have a carbon version of the same, and swap all the stuff over making a relatively inexpensive upgrade, and spend the rest on bike trips in the Alps…. 🙂

It appears that Rothbury is a “doable” halfway/overnight halt. There are a few bunkhouse/B+B options available in the village to save you carrying excess luggage.
Hexham and Berwick upon tweed are both on train routes so shouldnt be too difficult to get back to your starting point.

Swops out? Oh you mean exchange….
Doubles are heavier? A shifter, a length of wire, a small chainring and a derailleur weighs how much? Are you PROEndooro or just real world user? The weight argument is a load of crap….I bet you could save at least as much be cutting down the contents of your back pack or are you already using Ti multitool/CO2 cartriges?
