Hi – when I said our site, I meant the consumer website I have the operational responsibility for. Our IT incident team report in to me when our websites go down, and they were speaking to BT last night, who explained that it was BT’s fault that caused many different companies web operations to fail, ours and Amazon’s included. Roper is away but I have still decided to try and do a Sierra de las Nieves ride (mountains north of Marbella) which will take me to a 1900m summit, the highest I will have ever been. As I will be riding solo, I won’t be doing any heroics, and if the weather looks remotely dubious, or there is still snow, I’ll head back and wait for Roper to get back from his break before trying again, maybe during the May bank holiday weekend.

It wasn’t just Amazon. BT’s system failed, and I’ve been getting our IT support tonight to hassle BT, who also provide us with our internet links.

I have a friend who lives in Newton Abbot and have only been a couple of times, and I’ve not been to the coast so yeah, loads of exploring to do.

One of the directors, Satish Kumar, did a documentary last year on BBC2 about a year on Dartmoor. It looks fab!

Yep – it is Schumacher College. I posted a thread about it a couple of weeks ago and am looking forward to going out with the Dartmoor riders. I already have my two Ordance Survey maps of Dartmoor and can’t wait to go out there.

Yeah – I am hoping to meet Trekster and look at maybe doing a Stane or two one day, and then maybe look at doing a natural ride on a second day. Maybe I can get help from one or two other Borders riders to help guide too. I like the idea of a West Coast meet though and will get that sorted, assuming I am allowed to leave work end of May. I’ll post a thread maybe end of April to see who is interested and just to let people know it may happen.

Yep – I am moving to a place called Dartington, near Totnes in September to do an MSc for a year. Before that I am hoping to be allowed to quit work early end of May (am on 3 month’s notice but handed in my notice last week) to allow me to spend a month in Dumfries at my folks, and then will be in Peru for July and August!

I feel I am edging closer to being able to have the whole of June off, free to ride. I’ll be based out of Dumfries so nearer the time I may well see about getting a few group rides going around the Stanes area.

I was going to do either the third and final section of my local loop I have been putting together, or ride at casares, again, riding a section that looked tasty but we didnt explore last time.

True – but then I pulled a calf muscle at footie this week so am just resting up and not riding today in order to ensure i can make the most of Easter (Casares, Malaga DH, and prob a local loop) 🙂

I’m going to have to go back arn’t I and see if I can do that first chute. Had some serious fear when I rode it and bottled it. Hopefully future rides will be a bit sunnier for you.

Do these threads really upset you guys that much? I find I have full conscious control between brain and hand and mouse (most of the time), and I seem fully able to resist clicking on a thread about ooh, say tyres! 🙂

I get Seat Leons through work and have had a few these last 18 months as my company car is a monthly hire car due to lack of company car financing in Gib/Spain.

The Leon 1.9 diesel is way better than the 1.6 petrol in my mind, and I have had a few of each for comparison. Build quality seems pretty good.
