I think it means if you shave your arms, you will gain 0.3 seconds due to reduced wind resistance?

I can’t help but think I would gain one heck of a lot more than 0.3 seconds if I cut down on cake rather than shave.

You will be absolutely fine on the Kirroughtree black – I did it without a single scratch, but then I did get lost for half an hour or so due to missing a marker. The black and red is a bit like a figure of 8. You start on the red, then do the black loop, and then finish on the red again. Most of the black is fantastic red grade singletrack, and the black bits are more occasional obstacles which can be walked down. You will see them in advance and at no point will you suddenly find yourself out of your depth and comitted to something that is beyound your capabilities.

McMoab is a huge rock area, (maybe a bit bigger than a football pitch?) but the actual bike route is fireroad at this point, and you can have a quick go on the rocks, but if it too much, you just stick on the fireroad which runs along side the rocks and goes past the insane final chute.

I think shortcut has it right. The only area you may want to think about is swapping Ae for Drumlanrig – they are very very different routes. Ae is big and bermy and has a lot of jumps on the final descent. Drumlanrig is rooty and “old school”, with the tracks going through some lovely woods. Depends on what type of riding you like.

I’m not too sure you should base yourself in Peebles for the western Stanes. But yeah, these are the best, although i really like Ae but others do not.

And Mabie black is a double black 2 miles worth of silly north shore, so that may or may not be your bag.

It looks like a fab bike but what were you thinking with your choice of location for the photo? Is that the best you could do as all that busy-ness really detracts from being able to appreciate your bike.

I’m having a karaoke leaving party on 30th as a friend is an ex karaoke DJ who still has all the kit, and another friend has a massive house with projector tv and all so I will be doing various sets throughout the night and plenty of duets and tri-ettes and all 😀

Hi – I fly back to the UK around 8th June. However, I do not know when my bike will be available for collection. My plan is to be able to pick up my gear on the 11th/12th and will then arrive in Dumfries 13th ish. (Who knows, with a prevailing wind I may get home sooner).

However, my bike needs a service so I may just about be on the trails by 15th/16th. However, I wont have ridden for a good few weeks, and would probably be doing Gt and Inners mid week so we may just miss.

But yeah, there are plenty of folks around to join up with if not myself. I have the following 3 weeks free to ride and stuff, but I will be doing a Caider idris ride on 20th and then doing some specialist solo stuff for the solstice which I know no one from here will want to join in with 🙂

Then back up to Scotland for some more riding before getting the heck out of here for a couple of months.

See – in no way can anyone now accuse me of false modesty huh?

I switched to 5 10s and immediately found a lot more confidence. They are very grippy. I am totally XC and don’t do jumps at all, but find they are great.

I think I would do well in the “best rider in the campo de gibraltar to keep going in the face of adversity riding way outside his comfortzone in 33 degree heat having run out of water and getting heatstroke category”, but that’s about it really. I just like to pootle around whereever I may find myself.

And yeah as jedi said, it’s all about having a big smile which is what I was getting at in the OP and not stressing about what others are or aren’t doing 😀

I’m thinking guitar teacher isn’t my calling in life. Good luck though – just get some basic chords and you’ll soon be strumming a few songs (Chasing Cars is A, D and E)
