I have a tattoo but it is a deeply personal symbol. It's on my upper arm, and even when wearing t shirts people do not see it.

When it comes to symbols, if you are asking about stars and Chavvyness then it seems to me you are only thinking about the aesthetics and not the meaning of the symbols. Which is fine, but you will be stuck if you ever think the tattoos have become unfashionable. But you may want to reconsider and find a symbol that does speak to you.

I had mine done in a natural ink which lasted for 2 weeks. I decided I liked it and then made the decision to have it done permanently, in 4 colours.

It is a personal thing and it does not matter what others think. The only issues are maybe work related where you may not want business colleagues and customers etc to see them.

The thing about the end is that the video camera seemed to survive a nuke on New York, or am I wrong?

This was on tv a few weeks ago. I was vaguely aware of the hype but out of the country when it came out so missed any discussions.

I thought it was good, but it seemed to be much more of a traditional monster flick than I was expecting. I wasn't expecting to see the monster, but when you did it was more doctor who than some wierd multidimensional head-fek type situation as per the original Solaris. Not a bad film, but maybe not quite matching up to the hype.

The battery on the video recorder lasted a lot longer than mine ever did, and there were a few too many times when you thought if you were in that position, you would run like the wind and not video, but then I can't wheelie either, as per current survey on the home page.

Seriously accurate portrayal of life in the Simonralli household

    😀

Are you learning for the Brazilian? Portuguese turns out to be way more formal than Brazilian, and the verbal difference are quite major.

I understood how much something cost me today for the first time at lunch, so that is a start!

I am currently on the past tense, and my girlfriend keeps repeating how to say it back to me, I say it and she gets really frustrated as it seems to me spot on but she says it back to me like I am not even close to the pronunciation! Ahhhhh!

Well when I was 8 years old I had a tape recorder the size and shape of a shoe box, and microphone on a lead and a small radio. I used to record the top 40 using that system so maybe get an MP3 recorder and hold that up to the PC speakers? Simple!

I was in Brazil, but I will be back in Dumfries in August, for a couple of months or so, doing not much else other than riding, day in day out so I am sure to be bothering the locals in that neck of the woods for more than one day. After saying that, my last solo ride there was much more of a walk to be honest, down as well as up.

Excellent adventure playground for our four year old afterwards

Your four year old rode the black and still had energy for the adventure playground? 😯

Well CG when in Rome do as the Romans do!

My girlfriend has demanded that I go out and buy some Havaianas, which I have done and am wearing them now as I type.

That sounds mildly more normal than many a thread on here. Were you definitely dreaming or was it a thread you wrote on which then got locked and disappeared?

I live in Brazil. There was a public holiday today and just got back from a free music festival in our local park.

I once went on a business trip to Seoul, and there they cook fish in what seems like ammonia. Absolutely terrible and business protocol meant I had to eat the stuff. Simply hideous.

What the heck did you launch yourself off to get that high? Is it just me now left here who has never managed to get 2 wheels off the ground? That is a great photo, very envious.

To be honest, I think you're bike is far too expensive for your skills and you could maybe benefit from some downhill alpine skills courses! 😯

I think someone here posted a fail-proof method for ALWAYS winning at roulette. Follow that and you will pay for your holiday. I have no idea why others do not do this 😀

My name is Simon and I prefer Mabie as I find Glentress quite challenging on the whole and there are too many bits where you have to keep braking otherwise there is a danger of the front wheel taking off 🙁

Personally I think that you should only be allowed to ride a £1000+ bike if you can track stand at traffic lights

Maybe you could point to someone with a heavy £2K full suss bike who ONLY ever rides fire roads as having more money than skills, but this vid is fine. There was one short bit where I thought the guy was going too slow to make the jump but he did.

I seem to have just watched a load of kids having fun and not hurting themselves on crashing. I have far few skills than them. Do I have more money than sense too? I ride a 2004 Kona Caldera. 😀

I know you are probably talking about the UK, but the Montes de los Barrios just north of Algecieras in Spain was a fantastically chilled location and never saw any other riders there at all ever.

Rather than bright people who act fraudulently, I would prefer wise people who are honest and act in the people's interest.

29 degrees and sunny, but my girlfriend is away and she has an ear infection too, probably due to stress, so although I can't grumble, bit worried about her.

Headingley is a great area, but it is full of students, so expect a lot of noise. There are good bars and restaurants there. I lived in Kirkton, and would happily return but to somewhere a little less central and north such as Moortown.

It's a great place in terms of both biking, but also having access to a vibrant citylife. I liked the fact that Leeds is quite compact, and that you can get out for afterwork rides quite quickly. And with a car many places are not that hard to get to either.

Do it the simonralli way! Have total conviction that you are doing the right thing, do a masters degree, have a bit of a wobbly for a few weeks half way through with a slight loss of conviction on what seemed like a good diea at the time, meet a Brazilian economist who as a consultant knows many many top CEOs to introduce me to in Brazil, spend time in the Peruvian Amazon doing important research on * cough * natural plant medicines (see endnote), return to Brazil and get a pad together while writing the dissertation, take 2 months off in Scotland in the summer to bike, finish dissertation, then emigrate to Brazil which has one of the world's current strongest economies 😀

    (endnote – that's what I told my parents 🙂 )

I would add to this list access to an accountant to help sort out the paying of taxes. This can be a real headache. Most companies provide one. The HR department may not have the relevant expertise. Maybe your department does.

Personal phone calls home – these may need to be specified in the contract?

Oh, and I got work to buy me a hard case for my mountain bike. They also bought me an aluminium flight case for my synth.
