I used to hang out in plenty of places in Shoreditch. Cantaloupe was always a fave

You're spoilt for choice in London!!

If it's hot, then get on the district line down to Richmond, and grab a beer by the riverside.

His hand is not at all good as can be seen in the photo he posted on this thread:

    http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/finally-back-on-my-bike-wet-fun-at-dalbeattie-today

I am quite embarrassed by making a little joke about his off, as I thought it occurred some time after the photo i posted happened. Hopefully he will accept my sincere apologies!

Forge – Hiya – I'll be doing a Mabie ride soon with Trekster, but till then am trying to get fit again. I finished the ride with about one hours of jelly-like exhausted muscles! Am going to give the coastal route and the flattish "Back of Crieffel" rides a goo too some time.

Trekster – wow – that looks a lot worse than it seemed yesterday. Hope it heels soon. I think I must have been lucky when i went down on those rocks. I never realised you went off at that point!!! I totally missed it then as I was down the track waiting to take photos where I was. Sorry for a slightly bad comment then – I'd never really take the pee. Oops. 😳

Can't believe I wok to sunny blue skies after yesterday's downpours! Typical 🙂

    Few more

    Weeeeeeee

    This didn't go well!

This is the bit I can't do 🙁

Surviving the slip slidey widowmaker, after a few spills, and it wasn't just me who came off on the way down 😀

JC has lots more pics but will let him post ones if he wants.

    Hi Diane

Ah – that's a shame you couldn't make it. Trekster and I will be doing a Mabie run soon. Maybe in a couple of weeks as I want to get a little fitter first!

I've been out riding with Trekster and JohnClimber and friends today. We got wet. Some of us fell off. I bottled one descent but made it down another. No one criticised my lack of gnarl. Everyone got back to the cars saying it was one of the best rides ever! Some of us still like to ride our bikes, even in groups with different skills and fitness levels, and still manage to have lots of fun. 😀

Trekster – I still have the old Meriva so plenty of room, if you bring a couple of blankets as per usual!

I have no idea if I will get all the way around, may have to take a short cut back but will give it my best shot!!

    9.00am at your house?

    Hey Rob

I would say that what you did was entirely right. I think you should look at what security settings you are using so that only your facebook friends can see any of your profile.

These things are never easy, it will take time before you really feel 100% again, but yes, you did the right thing.

Forge – hiya – am going to email you in a few days time once I know how I am getting on on my bike. My plan is to show John the natural bits, then take a rain check to see if i am in any shape to get round the rest of the track. Am starting off tomorrow just with a half hour or so road ride to sound things out knee-wise ; (

I also need to get info from Trekster and Forge too, just in case I forget the off-piste bits as I'll be joining the gang on Tuesday.

I remember the bit of singletrack where you go left. This takes you towards that steep-ish slope yeah?

Then at the bottom, is it left or right to get to the cracking bit of singletrack in the pines, that has that sharp left just before you get to then end.

Then out of the woods, it's a left hand turn up that longish straight track yeah? I think I know where to go from there, back onto the main red route?

I may go this Sunday to see how I get on!!

Van Gogh, I meant to say Van Gogh. Picasso is Spanish. Wow, my friend must have really been off on one 😯

Go into a coffee house, then head for the Picasso museum! Then if it gets a bit too much you can go to the zoo and chill out with a nice conversation with the penguins. That's what a friend of mine suggests 😀

I sold my house and went off to India to learn yoga in 2004, but that all went belly up.

It quite literally did. My liver started to expand in a reaction to the malaria tablets I was taking. I was misdiagnosed as having yellow fever, kept on taking the tablets and it got to a really dangerous and extremely painful state before we all realised what the problem was. Horrible horrible days!

Oh, and there is another bit. I spoke to a Peruvian shaman in his twenties, a very special young chap called Puma and asked if I should do my MSc. He said yes, and not to worry about what would happen afterwards career wise, since I would not be able to handle the vision if the universe were to reveal to me at that point what was going to happen.

In the end, this chap turned out to be the adopted son of one of the lecturers on my course, which I had not known, and also I met my girlfriend on the course, and getting ready to emigrate to Brazil to live and work with her 😀

But I am not saying the OP should go and have a coca leaf divination reading with a shaman, that's just for loons like myself really.

I had quite a career in Business Development. Many of my friends are still doing the same thing, and I have had colleagues who have built their own mobile and gaming companies and sold them on to huge conglomerates, making vast amounts of money.

But my own spiritual life was more important, and although I was very professional and good at what I did, I lacked that final ambition to get myself out of middle management and into that mode where you live, eat and sleep work maybe 24 x 7 for 3 or 4 years to accomplish all that.

Last year I started a one year MSc in the areas of ecology and economics, and am now realising that in Brazil it is possible to really make use of my previous business experience but in a much more rewarding sector.

It sounds as if you may not be able to fund an MSC, as it is expensive, but maybe there are evening courses or something you could look at to enhance your existing skill base?

Oh, this was my second attempt. I sold my house and went off to India to learn yoga in 2004, but that all went belly up. It helps to have a very big dream or vision, as things may not always run smoothly, as they did not for me in many different ways, but with the right amount of oomph and get up and go you can achieve amazing things with you life.

Why not start right now and join One Photo Every Day?

You'll develop an eye for angles and will receive daily feedback on your pics!

And as others have said you can practice angles and compositions with just the minimal kit to see if you like it as a hobby.

Something to do with aliens anyway

Nah, I am sure on Independence Day Will Smith hooked up just a regular Mac to the alien computers without any special niche hardware or software.

Cougar – yes they do and the staff are very friendly, welcoming and open to people of any background. They even let you touch the stones 🙂

Some friends of mine posted some Stonehenge ceremony photos last week so yes, you can still do this.

Oh and if anyone wants a big in your face henge, Thornborough Henges is worth a cheeky visit!

    Crumbs! Terrible!

How do you think I felt paying the monumental sum of 12 of your English pounds for a private early morning ceremony with a little group of friends before the masses arrived!!???

I must be a mug as I have done that twice now. I'd say the energy is alive and well 🙂

Thanks for the link. Yes you can download those fonts for Mac. Having played around, I do not think they work too well in a small font size, they seem better suited to large headlines or for posters etc.

One thing that was quite strange though. In that little list of used fonts, i.e. fonts you have already used in your document, a new one suddenly appeared called Trebuchet MS. As far as I am aware, I had never seen it before, but amazingly enough it is not too far off my Sony Ericsson, so I am going with that for now.

What I am doing is writing a story, and this contains a small number of text messages. I am writing using the Times font, but I want to include the actual text messages as an indented paragraph, and I want them to use the same font that is for example used on a lower end Nokia mobile phone. Does that make sense?

I have tried to google but not got anywhere.

    Cheers

What's your dissertation? Mine is 95% complete and this week I have started writing some additional chapters in the hope that it will some day find a publisher. I am not using software, just doing things manually with Mac Pages.

Cheers – that's the one. I have now found how to edit each of my footnotes manually, but I can't find out how to create a new footnote style using that. But yeah, cheers for your help!

This is a shame really as when you go there it is not in an obtrusive position, i.e. it really enhances the location and does not spoil the view. I am not a fan of many of these types of installations, but the chair was excellent.

Well at least you have a beer in the fridge, even though you aren't planning on drinking it. There's a glimmer of hope for you.

Have you not got a beer in the fridge to at least mitigate against these somewhat dire set of circumstances you find yourself in?

d a really long article on phenomenology (the most stupid thing I could think of at the time)

My MSc dissertation is a phenomenological study 🙁

But then my supervisor has said I am the first person he has ever told that their dissertation would make a good book. 🙂
