    Ah artificial – got ya.

Thing is, Peter Crouch has Abbey Clancy at home but then likes a bit of rough on the side……so wasn't too sure where your analogy was going.

I got a little bit lost as to where the thread was going when we got to the Tal y Fan section. The post makes Penmacho sound quite good!

    Cheers Tom

Lobby – there is a new ridge section which is fast, flowing and has jumps, and the rest is as good as always 🙂

Don't panic Tim, I was referring to Trekster! I wouldn't post the vid if I didn't think it had comedy value.

Thing is for me Mabie's singletrack is spot on for my skill level and I always have a blast when I ride there.

Davy-g – great vid and some top jumping. Yeah, there are some logistical issues due to me maybe being in Wales towards the end of the month – I was meant to go next week but that got cancelled. But I am emigrating to Brazil 3rd week in October, so maybe 1st week in October depending on various factors. Watch this space.

Forget it! I'm not going down that slab! (But yeah, we should go for a walk sometime, no jumping. 😀

Well yeah, I posted this post in humour, but I am actually trying to jump!

I failed to do the two steep steps just after elevator, but then I did clear the bad step and made it up the scorpion without dabbing, so that was an achievement!

After saying that, I fail to see how I will ever do that mini slab at the jump park tho – that's got loss of teeth and over the handlebars written all over it!

No, that video is from the new bit up at the ridge. Towards the very end, that chap in the video goes over the bit that I am riding in that top photo. (Except I stopped to suss it out first and didn't go quite so fast) 😳

And no, I have never done a JUMP! like that before so I thought I did well to leave the bike park in one piece and with the bike in one piece too!

You have to go upwards for a jump

Blimey talk about splitting hairs. I've never been off anything that big before and it was on the red loop not the blue loop! 😯

I've been reading this thread hearing the comedy voices from Monty Python's Holy Grail, where they discuss the sparrow and velocity……

Well at Ae when I had my big spill, one chap stopped and changed my innertube as I only had the use of one arm. Another couple then stopped and used their first aid kit to clean me up. Another group came down and the chap in front ensured that others would slow down as I was still on the track, but to the side. And two other groups slowed, just to check everything was ok as they could see that others were helping me. So I would hope that I would err on the side of caution and offer help to others were I to see that someone was in trouble.

Went out yesterday, working on my book today, being a free spirit (i.e. unemployed) I can write and bike as and when my inspiration, creativity and weather take me. 🙂

I used to live there but at the time did not have a mountain bike. There are some fantastic roads to be ridden.

I have nothing against old people but there does seem to be a swarm of them up in Galloway recently who feel that the lines in the middle of the narrower roads are to show you where you place the middle of the car……. 😕

    Cheers folks.

I was doing command shift 4 to screengrab, which works on every other application apart from the DVD player, so I was thinking that maybe there is anti-piracy software built in to the screen grab?

Have just downloaded snapzpro and it does just what I need – cheers!

Heh – chill – just joshing. If this was a sensible conversation I would comment more on the fact that genuinely talented students have been sold out by various governments, due to changes in exams and how A grades are given out.

Good luck – you have chosen a great Uni with plenty of excellent biking around!

Nope – I finish my Masters Degree in September 🙂

I got three As at A Level in 1988 when that actually meant something. Nowadays that's like the equivalent of a PhD isn't it?

Well I was going to go out today but luckily as I am flexible I shall wait till the weekend. Monday is looking pretty good too. But yeah, the last 2 weeks up in Scotland have been great. A few showers but nothing so bad really.

I heard this joke some time ago, and it continues with the mens' version, whereby the first floor is women who like beer, the second floor is women who like beer and sport, and no men have ever got further than the second floor 🙂

I sort of have one for sale, and it has been hardly used at all. I bought it a few months before being sent to Gibraltar, and have not ridden it since. I say sort of because the bike is in London and I am in Scotland, as I will not be down that way until end of September.

It is a little bit heavy, and the tyres are quite chunky, but it is excellent for town riding, where you are not covering say a commute of more than 5 miles, where you may want something lighter and faster.

I loved mine and would be sad to see it go, but am moving abroad, hence trying to get ride of things here.

If you have not already done so, getting the book Writers' and Artists' Yearbook 2011 is a good idea with lots of help and ideas.

I am going down this same route, although the book I am just about to finish is non-fiction. It does help to have an on-line presence. My strategy is to publish my masters degree dissertation for free, get some word-of-mouth publicity, and then look for small publishers who publish in this genre.

I may self-publish in a few months time if I have no luck, but you can self-publish in a manner whereby if Amazon sell a copy, one copy is printed and sent out to the buyer, as opposed to you having to order lots of books up front.

Yeah – who needs the woods behind the Nationwide at Swindon when you have the trees behind Lochthorn med centre!

Forge – maybe Mabie that weekend? I'll drop you an email nearer the time.

Trekster – well the pace I ride you could always come for a walk with me!

did you never build a jump for your grifter when you were a kid?

No – I only ever had a Raleigh Olympus which was a drop handlebar racer bike, when I was 8. So I have never actually jumped a bike, hence I am trying to get into the whole two-wheels-off-the-ground thing. I love my biking, but am just not that good so am trying to do learn some things like some of the slopes at the Stanes and drops and things like this.

Rich – Trekster said that there was one jump that had three levels, so I was just going to do that – not the tabletops of anything!
