Hi – yes – I would have thought that too – it was more an observation about what makes good drug art as opposed to his ones.

The tea has any one of up to 40 or 50 different active compounds making for very different experiences.

Some really interesting pictures there but I often struggle to connect with most drug art which is static. While many artists aim to represent their experiences, and much art is beautiful, I just can’t connect with the experience the artist is attempting to convey.

For me one of the very few pieces of art was from the film Renegade, where they had a few million pounds worth of computer animation at their disposal. In this ten minute clip they are able to convey the multi-dimensional space you experience, plus other non-visual experiences in consciousness such as the dissolution of soul, and the meeting of disincarnate entities (e.g. 6.50).

So what about this one Rorschach?

Wow – that Julian Cope book looks right up my street.

I have recently read this and thought it was amazing – it really paints a wonderful picture not just of the science of the day but how it was taught too. This description doesn’t really do it justice – far more than just Darwin’s own story – a great history book too making those times come to life.

Here you go – not the most amazing photos as most of the rides were solo, but will give you an idea. There are some much better trails than are shown on these pics, which are mainly from the Bikefax Spain book.

Drumlanrig is fantastic. A small investment in a map will really help you as there are few variations and combinations of trails you can follow.

Given that you have the Triathlon with one person doing three events, surely there is a new event here in cycling.

Bradley Wiggins doing the first road bit, Mark Cavendish climbing a hill, Danny Hart going DH, someone else doing an XC leg finishing, bit of BMX with points for style and then ending with a 1500m sprint. Now that I would watch!

I have some good news – Globo tv in Brazil have decided to switch to the cycling so I’ll be able to watch it now on tv – I watched the other cycling on my laptop :-)

    Hi Teamhurtmore

Obviously I am more than aware of the problems Brazil had. My wife talks about her father having to buy food at the start of the month really quickly after being paid, and then putting it in 4 fridges, as a day later his salary would be worth a lot less.

This post is really about self esteem I feel, and is written with a Brazilian audience in mind. My blog has an international audience, but quite a few from Brazil of course, people who know us and follow us.

Most Brazilian friends tell me that if I think things here are bad now, then I can’t imagine how bad things were. But many people still suffer from a colonialist mindset, of being exploited, and also of living in fear, and this is what me and my friends now want to work on. My wife is going to be at a school on Monday running a lesson about self-esteem. Cool huh? A small start but I am also working with businesses as well on this aspect of consciousness.

Yes, absolutely Brazil is a messed up and phenomenally corrupt and violent country. This is a video made by one Brazilian and is aimed at those other Brazilians (and not the rest of the world) who criticise their own athletes for performances which are not good enough to win medals, without thinking about why Brazil is not dominating in sport.

Now that I have been living here for over 2 years, it is interesting for me to observe their collective attitudes, which despite the cliches of samba and football and carnival, can be phenomenally derogative, demonstrating a chronic lack of self-esteem in self and country.

Because of the corruption, and the lack of education not just in poor people but in people who do actually have money, it is phenomenally hard for those Brazilians who do want to make a difference to actually have an impact. That is why I wrote this article which is likely only to be read by this group of Brazilians, as they are the ones reading my blog.

Vivo here in Brazil. I don’t know if this will give you confidence or not, but there has been a great scandal in that the other 3 (not Vivo) mobile networks have been banned for a month from selling new SIM cards as their services are so bad! Vivo is probably the best but not amazing, and it still works pretty well, so I am sure you will get on much better in the UK.

Well here in Brazil all is quiet too. Normally when a team scores, even the local teams and not the national team, fireworks are let off. When a team scores against another teams arch rivals, they let fireworks off to celebrate. And when Corinthians recently won the Copa Libadores, São Paulo was like a war zone. But I have not heard one single bang at all, even though they have just won 3 – 2.

    This is a celebration : )

Well exactly John hence my need for the collective help of the good people of STW :-)

I did switch it off and on and that didn’t work, but taking the battery out did!

    Thanks for the help folks.

I did see a restore settings on the battery part of the Control Panel, but I was worried about what else that would reset. I don’t wont to make things worse!

    Hi Dawson

Yes – I found that option and tried it. It does change the brightness, but the problem is that the max is now not very bright.

Twitter and Facebook are tools and it’s up to you to be creative with them. On Twitter I am learning Portuguese – there are sites that give daily language tips which are great, and newspapers give their headlines there too – so I can learn a little vocabulary each day.

On Facebook I have pages for my book and CD so this is a great way for people to find you and also interact with you too.

I am also signed up to various groups relating to what I am interested in – bike activists in Brazil and a lot of eco groups too so it is a way of catching up on their news too.

And also, Twitter every so often manages to coalesce public opinion and once in a while some positive things happen – like the support for that 9 year old girl in Scotland who was blogging about her school dinners but got censored by her local council – people on Twitter helped get that decision reversed.

So yeah, they are what you make of them.
