Paid £55 at Christmas. Still happy.

Completed my 456 Evo Carbron perfectly.

The hardest bit is fitting the crown race.. come on, I need to know the answer to my question from yesterday!

    With regards to the above, a couple of different sized plastic tubing will easily sort it;

Just slide the crown race on and bosh it down with the tool.

I used an old seat post to hammer mine out. Gave more contact area and came out really easy.

Block of wood and a mallet to smash it in.

    Easy peasy.

Some fantastic advice here, thank you for taking the time.

To also add a little more detail, I’ve got my diet pretty much dialed at the moment. Although 15st, this is 1.5st lighter than I was in November last. I have a target to get to below 14st which is achievable.

As well as the running, cycling I’m also doing Yoga but not often at the moment.

My cycling buddy who does far less cardio than I do but does strength and conditioning work absolutely destroys me on the climbs. He can spin in much higher gears than me and feel that I can get really quick gains by getting stronger.

Me and my mate bought a pair of Hope 4 XC at the same time.

His rear bearings went after a couple of months. Mine still going strong.

I plan to buy a bearing tool kit and bearings the next time I get paid. Just so I can do them myself when the time requires.

Kit is about £50 and the hope one. People say a socket set would do the same job.

Based on positive feedback here I was going to get a full bearing set from https://mbbearings.co.uk/ for about £25.

    These are the bearings required;
    Rear
    2 x 6903 Stainless Enduro Bearings
    1 x 17287 LLB Bearing (inner freehub)
    1 x 17287 Stainless Bearing (outer Freehub)
Hope use 1 non stainless bearing on the inside of the freehub because they say its harder than the stainless bearing and better suited to the job required, the other 3 bearings are stainless…

    Front (61804)
2 x stainless steel 61804 (also known as 6804) front hub bearings.

You may need a pump to get the bead onto the rim. Mine were OK with normal track pump, others I’ve seen have needed more effort.

I’d recommend once you’re set-up tubeless, don’t go back. It’s made a big difference for me, no more worries about flats. Got four punctures due to the farmer cutting the local hedges on the last ride. All sealed quickly with little air loss.

I have the Park Tool pump. The gauge is a country mile off on mine and I’ve read that’s common. Purchased a separate pressure gauge. Run at 30psi tubeless.

As the landing wasn’t flat, the front of the bike dropped further than he could reach. Ripping bars out of hands. Like others say, too rigid, too straight. Not that I can talk.

I had the same plan as @Oscillate Wildly but gave up.

I’d already ordered some Fox Flexairs to get me into the MTB Pants game.

Also on the back of @mehr post I’ve purchased some TLD pants from Aliexpress. Bit cheaper than ebay and got them for £32 inc delivery. Will post back when they arrive.

The TLD (chinese) pants off eBay are perfect copies, or possibly originals out of the back door – either way you cant tell the difference

Any chance of a link @mehr

    Just moved to Putoline also.

Screwfix degreaser to clean the chain then a Putoline chain wax treatment.

Plan to do it every three months and see how I go.

On a not so good thread
I’ve seen royal racing twice advertise their storm trousers for sale and have none in stock yet the weeks previous to the two sales they have had stock in all sizes
Then CRC had Fox trousers for sale at £95 and now UP to £102 and no stock

RR sale has been a joke. Black Friday was decent back in November but since many of the stock has gone back up in price and no stock added. I see a lot of adverts via Social Media for RR but no stock added or price change. Really poor when compared to Novembers sale.

    Ordered bike.
    Bike arrives
    Bikes damaged
Response via Web Chat even though office closed
Bike picked up next day at PX costs
Replacement bike delivered two days later

Seems sort of fashionable bashing PX on here at times but can’t fault the service I’ve received and have bought a few bikes from them.

Bikes a beaut. If you were happy at the time of the purchase, stay happy dude.

Share your concerns re the changing prices at PX but I love em. But admire PX for sorting out their range and trying to get back in the game with MTB via On-one.

Their clothing is also much better these days and I also look forward to their erm random Social Media emails.

I’ve got 2 x PX Bikes and 2 x On-one MTB. Most recent being similar to yours, the Carbon Evo but rim breaks and then Barry White edition. Love it.

I’d sooner buy from PX then some of the other much larger online bike retailers.

    I’ve got a 456 Evo Carbon.

    Running 1 x 11

    Also 27.5. 130mm fork. Mate has same, sure he’s running a 160mm

    2.3 tyres, don’t go wider.

    Love it.

I’ve been using 25mm Tesa tape with Hope XC rims and it’s been bomb proof.

Rims are 19.5 internal so a bit smaller than yours.

No expert but guess it’s the second time of fitting is the problem. Why twice?

Only went tubeless 3 months ago but not touched the tyres since.

I moves from Gorilla to Tesa and wouldn’t look back.

Presuming Hope wheels are on the Pro 4 Evo hubs, I’m not impressed with the way my rear wheels (2 sets) go through bearings, springs and pawls. Making wheels easy (apparently) easy to service, doesn’t compensate for you having to it too bloody regularly! Would go elsewhere in future…

Interesting, me and a friend bought XC Pro 4 wheelset and his rear bearings lasted four months (April – August ’19) before going back for a warranty claim. Less than Stella support from Hope but he got there in the end.

When we were looking for Wheels it was Hope v Hunt. Sadly Hunt’s were too wide for our frame so went Hope even though Hunts were our preferred choice at the time.

IMO you’ll not get it out.

    Had similar/same, blindly tried loads of house wife suggestions;
    Plus Gas
    Coke
    Vinegar
    Heat

It’s absolutely welded tight. it aint shifting.

I have caustic soda ready, just plucking up the courage.

Yep Hope hoops and brand new to me.

I don’t think they’re faulty. Maybe my expectations were too great.

Like I say, it’s not an issue, I’m really pleased with the wheel set overall. Just a question that I wanted to ask to see how others find them.

Son has one, no complaints, nice ride. 1 x 11, decent fork.

I’ve rode it and like it.

We replaced the seat post with a dropper which due to not greasing it has welded itself to the frame. My fault, haven’t shifted it yet so may need a replacement frame at some point.

No complaints at all with the bike.

Love my On-One 456 Evo Carbon. Bit battered but wouldn’t change it for the world.

Picture taken earlier this year at Marin Trail.

Running 27.5″ Hope Pro 4 XC (picture taken whilst running some Mavics)
    1 x 11 XT Group Set
    Yari 130mm fork

    I’ve been twice recently (Sheffield);
    1. for bits and bobs including web order collection
    2. to purchase a new bike

Really happy with the service. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Set the bike up well.

Had queries post purchase of the bike and the phone customer services were first class also.

    No complaints.

Similar problem recently. Steel frame, alloy dropper.

    Coke
    Vinegar
    Heat
    Penetrating Oil

    Haven’t shifted it one millimeter.

Looks like a new bike so winner winner…..

    For anyone that comes back to this thread, heard back from the guys at Hunt and they’ve confirmed;

All of our Non-Boost wheelsets can be used with 100mm and 135mm quick release. Just make a note on the order as you place it that you need these quick release axles but also mention that you will swap to 12 x 142 and we’ll include the adapter you’ll need as a spare.

    Thanks for the replies.

Looking for a Large frame so the Bird is out but thanks for the suggestion.

    Haven’t found adapters.

Have found a rear wheel for £60 which is the best option found so far.

Just realised I posted this in another thread by mistake!

“Thank you. Hunts seem to be well regarded.

I should have mentioned I’m running 100 front 135/QR rear at the moment with a view to going 142/12 rear with a new frame. Most wheels seem to come with inserts to move to 142/12 but don’t find it clear if Hunts do 135 with the inserts to 142 so dropped them a mail.

    Thanks again”

Re Cadair Idris, we’re planning on doing this ride in June but wonder if it’s worth it? Concerned it’ll be a long slog up and then a short hop down. We normally do Llandegla, both Marin’s, Coed-Y-Brenin (Dragons Back) and as we’ve only got a long weekend don’t want to waste a day on Cadair.

    Thanks!

I have many riding routes saved in Ride with GPS.

I export these routes as GPX files.

I import these files into Google Maps (Maps > Your Places > then I create a Map and Create a Layer for each Route

Then I can view either one of multiple routes in the same map.

I assume if I download the map I can view all these offline.

Beat me to it, bought the Voodoo Maji for the wife.  550 to 440 less 10% from British Cycling.  Less than £400 for 1 x 10, hydraulic brakes and air fork.  The bikes been fantastic and the wifes doing more riding than me as a result.

    Can’t recommend the bike enough.

How did you manage it please?

I’m in a similar issue but mines corrosion related.

It’s a dropper post I need to get out so would help to understand the technique you used.

When I got a DeeDar for my son and wasn’t sure about size, they built me the large and said they’d happily build another in a medium if it wasn’t right.  Can’t say fairer than that.

Couple of guys at work have ring.com door bells. Not used myself but seen in action and they’re pretty awesome. They easily answer their ringing doorbells at work and deal with deliveries, etc.
