Three laps or was it two !

Year before last had a good mix of up and down and you didnt have to be an XC whippet to enjoy it. Last year was with that decent through the trees in followed by the grind back up the hill just took any fun out of the XC…. and I always though the idea of the weekender was that anyone could join in and have fun, as well as race.

disposable nappies + 1 work really well.. chuffing expensive though having babies just to get the nappies. Wife goes mental when I use them up.

I’ve found the Rebas really suppple. Like the Revs I had on my other bike just lighter and shorter. I would have prefered the Blackbox damper on them and I’m getting parts together to make them into blackbox.

I’ve decided to change the uppers on the Rebas than go with an unknown.

You sure you want the bars another 20mm higher with a 120mm fork

I’ve got 10mm spacers under stem at moment, but have flat bars on with a slight riser stem. So scope to move.

What’s it like on techy corners/tight turns/switch stuff?

I’ve only ridden it on some trails around Purbek last week. Besides stopping as I was getting lost, it was pretty nice on the twisty trails by the golf course… I have a Blur TRc aswell, and to be honest, I felt the superlight wasn’t that much differnt to me on the single track as the TRc. I did get a bit unsure on steep rocky stuff compared to TRc but I was really pleasently suprised. The bike climbs really really well, especially on steep techy stuff and was great at covering distance comfortably on farm tracks etc.

A good start would be to use the correct name for the region. Its The Peak district OR Dark Peak but never the Peaks.

Cheshire cheese is the most MTBer and walker unfriendly pub on the planet.

Its funny how the people who had kids young and are now 40 feel old, and the ones just having kids at 40 feel young (if not a bit tired) ;-)

It was when the second one came along that my riding opportunities nigh on dried up.

Tell me about it. I still manage at night on Wednesdays, then work in taking the kids in the trailer etc to get out. But daylight rides are few and far between.

Glad to see there are quite a few “older” dads around. I was 37 for 1st and 40 for second and have been getting a bit worried (I know post event) on being an old Dad, but knowing I’m not unique is nice to know.

We never wanted kids but things happend in the familey that changed our prespective. In retrospect it would have been nice to have them late 20’s / early 30’s but we had no money then, and wife went back to collage, now she can earn in two days what she used to earn in five so that gives us some finacial flexibilty / child care advantages.

I suppose actually rule 1 gets broken verbally all the time, otherwise not many people would chance across the same bit of trail, unless it was blindingly obvious, in which case Strava cant be blamed as it was inevitable. But these are digital times, word is passed digitally rather than verbally.

I did note tonight though a LOT of new signs from our local council stating that said bits of trail were NOT FOR CYCLING. These were not around last year.

Third and final thought. Its a useful tool to measure self improvement if you measure that in speed. So, keep your segments private and just score yourself its a good DBase.

If Strava is evil..then racing is too.

EDIT: It will change a the way a lot of people ride. In fact tonight, when I usually ride as the above says to better my overall average as a measure of improvement, I found myself resting on the non Strave sections and sprinting on the segments. When out, I found a guy sessioning a bit of trail that you would normally just ride through, so I joined in and pushed back up and did another run ;-)

Its just more, different riding inint, and actually reflects the growing interest in Enduro style riding.

EDIT EDIT: thinking back to tonights ride I should have been enjoying the flow of dry dusty trails but was pre-occupied with speed on a segment. And I think that detracted from my overall enjoyment of the ride. Its not all good.

I generally hack them back in Oct/November when there looking spindly had horrbille. Then come growing season they go like the clappers.

    Cheers Phil.

I really love these tyres…and I love tubeless… argh why is it you can’t ever get quite what you want with MTB stuff.

    simonm

No, I just stuff more juice in.

Thats what I’m thinking with the walls. I can start to see the white strings in the walls, so I’m thinking its becoming harder to seal. The tread on the other hand looks very good. Its a shame to go through a £45 tyre (in tubeless terms) so quickly before the tread is anyway near worn is a bit pointless.

talking to Phil (other guy with RQ tonight) he was suggesting the UST Version sidewalls being thicker don’t lead to as grippy tyre as the non UST.

Its a shame. As these tyres are amazing.

Got mine last week.. Split Jackets – they are white and black. One O is missing on one side.
I have a proper Oakley pair with presciption lenses. On one side the lenses fit perfectly, on the right eye the frame will not close properly.
Strangly they appear to fog up more than my proper Oakleys.

There OK.. but gutted they dont fit my Oakly prescription lenses properly.

THanks, I had the manual but not the “Chart”.

My mistake with not enough little air. It runns really nicely now, its quite nice isnt it.

    Cheers.

Rear mech on the concept pics but not on the video one.

Surprisingly not bad looking for a car company bike. Even got V wide low flat bars.
