I cant remember which ones, but there are a few new frames around this year following the ST4 format.

I thought they said the meta 4 was a more XC orientated bike and the ST4 more fun DH… The ST4 is 68 degree head angle, the Meta 4 69.5.. much more XC.

Re-read here.. It doesn’t say comme did it first, merely they systems as similar. http://www.orangebikes.co.uk/reviews/pdf/ST4_Test_Singletrack_48.pdf

My point is the ST4 has more relaxed DH Geometry, and really is the first bike with a slack head angle and short travel.

simonm- didnt commencal do this format first?

No, they were both more travel.

Nope I got it wrong, thanks Fubar.. that makes it more clear…. er ish.. So only contribute to one per tax year while holding many. Now if you have a shares ISA, that can be with another provider, and you can add to that at same time as adding to a single cash ISA as it has a different allowance ?

    Cheers.

Northwind, there conning B’stards are they not.. terrible practice about ISA’s, millions of people getting ripped of over this point and yet FSA etc see it as reasonable !!!

at least he’s not refered to it as “Stead”… most hated term for a bike.

There arn’t many bikes around with the Geometry VS Travel of the ST4… Orange are ahead of the pack.

Really you have to ride one to appreciate how good they are, on paper its ONLY 100mm travel, doesnt look that great etc etc.. but it is a unique bike at present.. That said, I think there are couple of other companies joining the Short Travel Slack geometry train.

The changes to the 2011 model do address the issues that some had with the older ST4 though and all good steps in the right direction, even the Trek fuel took a few years to get it right.

Answered my own question “The golden rule is you can only open a cash ISA with one provider in a tax year you can’t split it. However you can hold lots of different cash ISAs from different years with different providers.”

The dedication of those proposing & progressing applications i.e. bridleways groups, has to be admired.

    Very much agreed.

Cheers, will give them a ring. Maybe a group in near future looking for a cafe at lunch on two days.. maybe they’d be intrested in 7/8 (muddy) people for lunch.

That Or I’m going to get a van and start selling coffee at the weekends at the bottom of fastrack.. .think I’ve still got my Wharncliffe gate keys !

ermm, lots of double negative legal language there, the order should NOT be confirmed, means it never became a bridleway then ?

Just talked about this in the office, apparently there is a history of the wrestler blocking the lane with boulders some years back to stop access.

mmm, thats what I thought, just strange how it leeds to the old Crossing cottage… someone said there was a wrestler who used to live in that cottage, Clark Mellor – Alias Hans Strieger.

Can’t compare. but the Carbon Nomad is very capable. Ive owened a few trail bikes, LT, meta 5, ST4, Apline and its the best yet. A lot more chuckable than you would expect for a 160m bike. I was after a light version of my Alpine, with the fun factor of the ST4 and it certainly is a good mix of those two bikes best attributes. Everything feels very calm and controlled whilst riding it. I suspect the Allu version rides very simular, just heavier. My bike weighs in at 28.2lbs with Lyriks on it.
    hope that helps a bit.

Simonm, can you elaborate on the FP near the railway line

mmm, I cant find my track from that ride now.. lookin at the map it could have been this bridleway.. I’ll check when I’m at home to see if I have the correct GPS track.
The thing thats throwing me is that this looks wide.. but it was certainly singletrack for part of the way

I have AM40s and 5tens. the 5tens grip better for DH, but there isnt much in it. Where the AM40’s win over the 5tens is the stiffness of the sole. There aren’t many flat shoes that have stiff soles.

I have contacts for rainy days but I find they really alter depth perception badly, at night its worse. Maybe its as I have a slight astigmatism and just have normal contacts…
So, I just ride with some Oakley 5’s, tried some Rudy insert types but they steam up worse than the fives.
Its crap really… rainy rides are the worst for glasses.
