Thanks, I’ve been googling away and it looks like best bet will be the road bike. Was hoping there maybe some green lanes to take the cross bike but they are pretty thin and far between also.

The hardtail is already 650b, so easier to move all that stuff over really.

Thanks for recommendations, will take a look.

It rained ! Hornsby and Manley trails closed. Australian customs cleaned my shoes on the way in, 3 months of britsh mud on them, nice and shiney now.

Now im in NZ, think I’ve got time for Woodhill before flying home.

    Cheers.

Hi caffeine, Old mans valley looks spot on, easy access. I should be there to ride either Friday 13th or Sat 14th June or maybe both at moment. Many thanks for bike offer, I’ve also found a place Re-zycle that appear to hire.

Any MTB Guides work in the area ?

thanks, B2B (good club btw !) refering to woodhill as Sandy, is the rain an issue for trails at this time of year ?

Cheers. Looks like Brisbane is now off so only options will be Sydney or Auckland.

Lots of snow on Snowdon last weekend. Didnt even attempt to ride up.

We were there at weekend and asked same questions. Road works make the switch backs un-ridable…. not to mention a mass of snow up there still yesterday :-)

Hi, if anyone is intrested, Loco “Machined” my bits (!) to lower my 26″ Pikes to 140mm. 2 months in, all is good, a ride a week sometimes more in the Peaks etc.

PM / email me if anyone as questions about it.

    Always been great for me.

My daughter attempted the same stiltortoise, and I recall they said someone elses tried.

I guess these thread are a bit like trip advisor, we brits don’t go reaching for the keyboard when we have a good experience with a shop / company / day out etc. But a slightly bad one and we hit the review button.

Best thing they ever did for me had ZERO money in it for them. I built up and refurbed an Isla bike, bought off here for my daughter. To make it a “special” experience for her I wanted her to goto a shop to buy her first pedal bike. 18 Gladly let me plant the bike there the day before, we turned up and Isla hunted down her dream pink bike with tassles on the bars in the shop. she was so made up, thanks chaps :-)

I’ve done both, in fact three. Learnt a lot from both Jedi did have good coffee.
In the end some coaches you connect with, and that’s an entirely personal thing. The coach I’ve been back to twice, and about to book again is John Paul or Aline in Sheffield. Just connect really well with him, and I’ve got consistently faster and happier on the bike since doing some days with JP

I used the “Wider” AM rims

    simonm

I built a pair about six months ago.
26″, “wider Rim” 24 hole front, 28 hole rear. They have done about 500 miles on my Blur TRc up here in the Peak, survived fine with a couple of scrapes. I had a job getting them to go up tubeless and had to use The Bonty rubber rim/valve thing to get them to.

However, I honestly find them to harsh/stiff and prefer an Allu rim.
So, I’m having my wheels re-built. Anyone interested in the rims can have them for £100 posted, just not the hole count on the rims.

    Cheers.

Dan it was heavy, but just reduced the amount I lost with front mech etc.
It didnt eat away my free hub body and worse than normal shimano does on hope hubs.

I’ve used one from Ebay for about 9 months on a 29er, was about £35 imported, Didn’t ride it as much as main bike, maybe 300/400miles. It worked well, the world didn’t end, it didn’t bend, jumps between sprockets were ok, it didn’t wear much in that time and I ride in the Peak.

I liked having that extra bail out gear here in the Peak.

Stayed at the Druid Inn, Llanferres[/url], abosulty spot on, food great, staff amazing, beer good, prices good. Highly recommended.
Even offered to let us back into the room after riding to shower.

    Top place.

Actually the head of the East Midlands FC is a keen MTBer. Allegedly. not sure he’d know a good trail if he faceplanted into it.

    Hehe

Does sound waste full though. All that money wiped off the landscape, I guess it was unavoidable. That said, there are two distinct parts to the FE- Recreation and Forestry – from my experience they don’t fully co-operate, Forestry being the dominant force obviously.
