Look on retrobike. There is a pair of Sid hydra air 80mm travel with v brake and disc mount for £70. Or some rockshox judy xc hydra coil set at 80mm with v brake and disc mount for £40 posted. The sids be lighter and more tunable to rider via air pressure. Both not mine, btw.

there was a article, i read about a few days ago saying that protein and other supplements did more harm than good. overall too much effect on the body, especially the liver as its got to process the extra protein or creatine, it puts so much work on your system. gnc, holland & barratt and others just there to sell/market the product and say its the best thing since slice bread

The 445mm will be for 100mm suspension corrected. 420mm for 80mm suspension corrected. Depends what fork you have on the cannondale atm (a-to-c). The exotic is very nice, lightweight and comfortable on the trail. Got some pace rc31’s at the moment and they are very nice – lightweight at 650 grams

I recommend some carbon forks, I have used ones from exotic cycles and now have some pace rc31’s. I prefer rigid to hardtail and to full suss, no need for faffing around with setups and servicing. Both forks are suspension corrected either 100mm or 120mm, I get more fun and enjoyment out on the trail with rigid, than letting a hardtail or full suss do all the work for me and full suss seems to be too much wasted energy

If you buy 2nd hand or build it yourself. Depends if you got any bike bits that you could use to build up a singlespeed. Retrobike for cheap/good bike bits

    So decent deals on here

    http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/laptops/315_3226_30328_xx_xx/1_12/price-asc/xx-400-criteria.html

£300 would get you a decent toshiba, lenovo, asus or acer.

All quite similar spec wise – dual core amd, 4gb memory, 500gb hard drive, 15″ screen and reasonable graphics.

The toshiba one seems best – upto 6 hour battery. £299 insted £499

Also dependent on what speakers you go for and if you get sub. You may be able to set the fronts, rears and centre to small or large. If go with all small, then LFE (low frequency effects) be re-directed to the sub. If set speakers to large, you may not need a sub. Depends on what speakers you have and if there is enough bass being outputed. I have a tannoy sfx sub and hardly use it, only cos I use digital stereo through external soundcard using optical cable, which gives me a 96khz output (dvd audio level), when cd audio is 44,100khz. sorry for slight waffle

Richer sounds a good place to go, plenty of choice. If you got dolby pro logic II processing on the receiver, that would make stereo be processed to surround. All-in-one 5.1 systems are ok for cheap convience but the satelites are poor and the sub can be muddy and boomy. Depends on budget, go for bookshelf/standmount fronts. good centre (if watching movies for dialog) and surrounds can be smaller. I got wharfedale diamond 9.0s for fronts and rears, nice clean sound and they are £40 a pair at richer sounds. I hope that helps a bit more.

A mixed bag of spanners then. It be the furthest I have rode, 200 miles total over the 1.5 days, on no sleep. So I look forward to what I see. It be a good sense of achievement doing that mileage and building up over the next couple years to do Lands End to John O Groats – which I know be very hard work, but rewarding at the same time. So many people have inspired me, that I want to do. A once in lifetime opportunity

I say forks, if buying 2nd hand. Marzocchi can be found cheap like mx comps/pros, from 2000 to 2006. A pair can be found for around the £50 mark. If looking at crankset then you would have to change the bottom bracket, shimano deore ht2 crankset and external bb for around £50-£60 on merlin. Depends on what bike it is and how your budget is

I used to have marzocchi mx comps and then mx pros. A good fork that does what it should, easy to service once in a blue moon and reliable. Anything from 1998 to 2006 is the good stuff, avoid 2007 to 2010. Mx pros are available at 120mm. I have a pair on hold for someone

Have a look on pinkbike, I just found a rear hope xc hub in blue for £50 or there is a set of mavic 325 on hope xc for £100 ( £60 just for the rear). Hope xc hubs do last for years and easily rebuilt, compared to shitemano!

Sennheiser pX100 II. I find these very good, nice warm open sound and clarity is great. Lightweight and foldable, cable is now single sided. Richer sounds have them at 39.99. I have listened to klipsch and sennheiser in ear but do prefer over ear.

I use rock oil off crc for £8, 500ml. A motorcycle shop may stock rock oil, as I got 1l for £7. Silkolene is over expensive and not as good as it used to be.

Keep the rockhopper and upgrade the fork – marzocchi bomber 100/120 or rockshox recon/revelation/reba. 2nd Hans will get you something decent. Or Maybe check retrobike for a 2nd hand full suss, there is a nice Klein mantra on there frame for £150!
