Basic fork but reliable, Fox evo were utter turd due to the damper.
Main issue is the basic rebound damper which suffered from ‘packing down’ on repeated impacts, so it’d Just lose the plot in rock gardens/rough stuff

Serviced Grayson Perry’s rear fox shock ( off a Marin) when I was at Mojo.

No problems, all sounds good of geometry sorted should be be overly twitchy with the 100mm fork settings :-D

You need suspension specific oil not motor oil.
Also thicker oil will effect compression as well as rebound damping so they may end up too stiff as well a slower rebounding which will reduce the top out but make the fork feel pants

If the bike is designed for 120mm max and the shock eye to eye stays the same when in 100mm setting with just shorter stroke you shouldn’t get any issues, ie geometry not effected, aside of a steeper ha due to a shorter by 20mm fork.
However if 100mm and longer stroke shock used to get 120mm the reduction in bb height at full travel may cause issues, along with potential contact of frame/linkage/shock.

Circlips at bottom on let seated properly, spacer fitted right way round, washer between circlip and spacer, oil level.
Potential issues, off the top of my head without looking at drawings so may not all be applicable

There was that other twin shock frame a few years ago, name escapes me, that used 2 rear shocks, they worked in different parts of the travel from memory.
    (I don’t mean Bender’s Karpiel ;-) )I
Edit: it was a stage 2 & 11 year ago, I feel old now :-/

Separate dampers for compression and rebound make a lot of sense.

If under warranty send it back, rather than waste time fiddling & potentially damaging it voiding your warranty.

It’s possible that one of the assemblies is cross threaded, the tube that is underneath the bladder that screws into the top cap has quite a fine pitch thread & easy to cross.

One supposed story is that the wide spread use of telescopic forks was due to the large number of barrel making machines/borers after the war, giving the motorcylce mnufturers a cheap supple of tubes. BSA for even mnufturered arms in house.

Time pedals and plenty of float, Shimano shoes, one size bigger than usual or 2 for winter boots which will wear seal skins under.

Or flats with Skate trainers/ boots

The teng 5mm i used for cracking rockshox lower bolts last 7 yers being welted with a big hammer duly so they’re quite tough ;-)
Compared to posh stuff snap on etc they hold up well imo

Was just about to post something similar, annoying grip on the ice tools. See what you can get some teng or facom sets for, have used both for work & last well and comfy to use

    YOu forgot the valve/logo alignment.
Not read whole thread, however the marks on the station are superficial nd could be smoothed with some very fine wet & dry, to take edges off & used. So don’t worry bout them too much.

They may have different valving the damper, can’t check now but might be worth checking the spec. However most of the crc seems to be ‘grey’ market so a bit random
