2 pure tell me they’ve got some, but don’t list them on our B2B site. I’ll be ordering up in the morning, let me know if you want a kit or 3.

They are SO much lighter that I’d expected – rather looking forward to these coming through, not what I’d expected at all. Cheers for the reminder, I’ll try to sort preorders out onto the website – they’re not around until spring…

naah, sod that – BT have still yet to sort our second phone line, so card payments on the phone are a PITA.

It’s active on the webshop, first come, first served.

widge – not seen that, can you check/try again.

Due to a cancelled order, we’ll have ONE, 160mm, black Slant in stock again tomorrow.

    Again, us+Liam/Upgrade. Anything in particular?

Dead simple to service, normal tapered rods for lowers clean and lube. Simple bits inside the air spring assy and damper.

The other thing to bear in mind is that it has a knock on effect on the resale, in terms of appeal and the price you can get. You’ll be paying less in the first instance though.

Cat C has to go through an inspection. We bought a Cat D from the people who’d repaired it. You do have to mention to your insurers (it’s usually in their T&Cs that insurance is invalid if you’ve not told them this prior) – ours just asked for copies of the invoices from the repair folks, so I’d imagine that they’d ask for similar proof of the inspection having been carried out. Price to insure was no different for us, but that was Cat D.

Liam’s been much help to us at the shop, I don’t know if they send spares direct – we’d certainly be able to order bits in.

Really impressed with my Velvets, we can’t keep Slants in stock – a great seller this year, with decent customer feedback.

    decent cheddar.

peanut butter, out of the jar with a spoon.

I’ll stand up for cottage cheese, it’s like a savoury yoghurt. Not what I’d call a comfort food though.

If you’re measuring the stanchion that’s showing, then 170ish is correct – Slants show a bit more stanchion.

Wash in reproofer is wrong for that jacket – I’d use the spray on to reproof the outside only.

    Clean out the machine
    Tech wash
    Spray on TX Direct
    Tumble dry low

    imho.

Yep, Nuun – rinse it and all is fine.

I’d trust your own instincts to a large degree- at that height I’d usually suggest an XL – but it sounds like you’ve been running a similar size bike (to the Large) for a while. We’ve got a Large TRc demo (actually mine and advertised for sale as I’m going for a Solo) that you’re welcome to try. I know that Jungle have an XL Solo which we may be able to borrow sometime for you to try for size/a ride – similar bikes.

Equilibrium Disc looks a great option for those who want a posher spec than the Croix De Fer – and won’t be looking to use off road.

Fortitude – there’s still a *few* available. Email me for a magic special deal price, we’ve just done a couple.

Core – they’re being realistic with what actually sells for us/them, they’re very popular as a mountain bikers second bike brand, the steel hardtails do a bit, but not enough to justify a larger range. We also have Cotic there fro that, so I think that has some impact.

MrBen – absolutely, we’ve got a hire place next door using Cores and they’ve held up really well despite the amount of use (and the fact that the hire folks don’t service them as much as we keep suggesting!)

yes to 9 speed. Really impressed with the trickle-down technology, dual release now featuring on Acera.

Depending on your height and the use for the bike would dictate Core vs Mantle. Email the shop if you’d like to chat more? info@18bikes.co.uk

cheers rich – set up tubeless!

I’ve pinched plenty riding round and about peak/sheffield, no worries without a tube. No pinging about at 70psi either!

yep – I’ve set up Landcruisers tubeless (on Stans Iron Cross) – running at 40psi they’ve been damn impressive, apart from their weight!

For a tyre that feels so plasticy, they’re slow on the road and wear out fast. I’m still a fan, I’d rather avoid puncturing!

Here’s our first news story on the new range – we’ll be able to update properly with photos once Genesis have them all photographed.

It’s a really great looking range – I’m well chuffed with their choices/tweaks for the coming year.

getting ready as I’ll ever be, with a few shouldered bike uphill slogs and that as a taster!

Bike’s good, but it’ll get fresh cables and tape before the event. Time wise I’ve got no idea – the more I watch of it, the less of an idea I have. I aim to finish (first timer)

Hehe – indeed, not my bike. We’ve had an SC demo this weekend just passed, so I squeezed in a demo ride of my own.

I’ve got a Blur TRc, but I have just ordered a Solo c to swap to.

A lovely build on the demo bike, no doubt – but I’m too used to 1 x 10 to use the full range of XX1 most of the time. I’m definitely not a fan of the CTD forks either.

I’d have to check on that – I’m not sure whether Vengeance is the same situation, I’d imagine so.

The travel spacers (on none-DLA air forks) is either a ladder/pin system, which has differing options on differing models, or we’ve fitted 10/20mm spacers. Pretty much anything, in 10mm steps.

oops, beaten to it by mangatank.

Velvet, Slant, Vengeance can be run with a 650b wheel. There’s enough room under the arch, but they need an internal spacer fitting so that they bottom out earlier – to avoid the tyre hitting the crown under full compression.

As they’ve said – we’ll straighten a replaceable alu hanger only as an emergency fix and even then with the note that it’ll likely break as we try! Does depend on how out they are – sometimes a minor tweak to a slightly wonky new hanger will work, but a fresh hanger is always best.

we did it once to cover over for a few months before we retiled (just a section of splashback) if it’s a short term thing and you can be bothered, yes – personally I’d not bother again, retile.
