Beaten to it! We do indeed have a Solo Carbon (large) and Bronson Carbon (medium) along with my XL Solo.

We’re closed Wednesdays, but feel free to call, email or pop in and we can discuss demo rides.

Oh, Solo imho – that’s what I chose too.

I’ll have one by the end of the week – email me and I can sort it from a Micra I’ll be stripping. simonbowns@me.com

Just taken delivery of my second one – sold last year to go hardtail for the winter and I’ve missed it!

We (18 Bikes) have a demo day on the 18th July if you’re anywhere near us? Also have a Large Carbon C demo in the shop for other dates. It’s been interesting to see more folk going for a Solo over Bronson the last few months, but we’re only a wee little shop so there’s not always a pattern!

I’ve stayed in Constantine Bay before, taken road bike. Early enough in the morning is dead quiet along the coastal roads. Lovely, bear in mind it’s pretty up/down/up/down/up/down!

I’ll second the Camel trail with family, but gets busy.

We’ve just had our first delivery of Sweep (the 650b Slant) Roughcut HLR arrive. Bloody lovely, decent adjusters with proper detents. NICE!

    Here on our site

Our brake orders are showing the same end of July date, likewise if I check the dates for chainset and 30t ring (at the moment, I’ve not got orders in on that ring)

I think we’ve just spoken Tim – I’ve now updated our site to show that date, having chased into it with Madison (quoted as December to us)

    I Spec B – December
I Spec II – end July
    Standard clamp – end July

that’s me looking at dates on our backorders, I’d certainly not expect to be able to wait until July and stroll into a shop to buy these. We’re expecting demand to be higher than supply.

    you’ll be fine as is!

I’ve just double checked our (18 Bikes) backorders. We can only go on the dates quoted by Madison, but all our shifter/cassette/rear mech back orders are still showing as due by the end of July.

    Brakes look like mid July

My 34t chainring is showing as October, maybe I’ll swap to a 32t for a bit then!

If anyone has questions on the other parts (we’ve really only seen demand for a rear mech/cassette/shifter/chain 1×11 package) then fire me an email info@18bikes.co.uk

Not as I understand it Glasgowdan, cable pulls different (as ever!)

We’ve got backorders in – for cassette/rear mech/shifters they should be late July.

I’ve put together a package for 1×11 setup here on our website

Looks like the right product at very much the right price, I reckon Shimano are onto a winner here!

I can quite decide if I’m as excited about doing it a second time round now. email me and I’ll get back to you if I choose to sell?

they also have the facility to adjust the bearings – is it possible that you’ve mis adjusted, or that there’s a degree of settling in first?

No real way of determining if it was like this from manufacture

I’d give Hope a call, they’re usually pretty happy to natter to people.

I’ll be surprised if you find anyone listing those sort of things online, we’d be there forever listing bits and spares like that. Chat to a local dealer, or give me a shout at the shop if you struggle – we’ve ordered in bits like that from Upgrade for people. It’s usually a couple of days to get bits in.

If it’s the nut itself, we might even have in stock. If it’s the foot piece itself, we’d order in.

From speaking with Hope recently (at Core) they’re not planning to restock any of the Stans rim options. Annoying for us as the Arch Ex are our best seller of all the rim options on their Hoops. Flow Ex 26″ has sold out already, the other sizes will follow as stocks diminish.

Hope say it’s because their own rims are selling better, but reading between the lines I reckon it’s Stans are no longer supplying them. If Hope have put the effort and money into their own rims, I’d imagine they’re keener to push those too.

Their wording on the rim ranges is that they wanted something stiffer (sturdier/heavier?) than the equivalent Stans. Hope were keen for eyelets too. We’ve not seen issues with Stans as such. It looks as though Hope aren’t prioritising weight and width as I might choose.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this plays out. As a shop, we can still build Stans rims onto Hope hubs, but there’s no way we can hit the same complete wheel prices without the scale of someone like Hope involved in the build.

Hope have just been in touch to confirm that the Black/175mm versions are in production now, should be available to ship next week/very early Feb.

The colours, along with 165/170 lengths will follow in Springtime.

I’ve listed on our site, with the current options available -click here!

Give me a shout at the shop if you struggle to find anywhere local.

I’m a big Braintax fan too, but it really grates that he (by all accounts) buggered off without paying the folks on the LowLife label. Harry Love’s certainly pretty miffed at him.

    20syl
    Apollo Brown
    Oddisee
and the new Slimkid/Nu,ark album are getting played here at the mo.

The new Nextmen Check Mate mix is well worth a listen too, far from just hiphop

Large sounds like the likely culprit, but worth trying some bikes for size. Pop down and sit on our Medium Bronson by all means, but I think my Large Solo will give a better idea. It’s at the shop (18 Bikes) at the mo, so that might work to try both for size.

Oh, worth mentioning that this isn’t the highways dept, so please don’t go giving these folks grief for Rushup Edge and the likes. This is part of the Pedal Peak project.

BBC North West Tonight have been in touch with me and *may* be interested in doing a piece on this whole story.

It hinges on us being able to provide them with some decent (ie broadcast quality) video footage of someone riding the trail BEFORE the work was done.

Does anyone have any GoPro (or similar) footage of them riding the trail? Climbing/descending/whatever!

Please et me know if you do – info@18bikes.co.uk

I’ve just had a check of our stock bike – I reckon plenty of room for 22/32/44, yep. I was cheking for a customer earlier, the bikes and frames are all in stock at Genesis/Sportline, so pretty quick for us to order in (they’re usually next day delivery to us)

Sizing – depends on much more than just ST!

We use a drift angled to catch the gap between the two halves, work your way around. Once one side’s out, the other’s easy.

The 2014 version sold out a long time ago – it’s not that anyone’s hiding anything, they’re just not available!

If you’re lucky you might find a shop with one on the wall, but I’d be pretty surprised at that for a 50cm.

2015 are due over the next couple of weeks.
