If you’re anywhere near the shop, there’s one in the workshop waiting to go for paint at the mo-an ideal chance to have a look yourself!

We spoke to Upgrade last year about this and were told that Roughcut dampers (on their own) would likely follow in 2016. XF were keen to focus on complete fork production, understandably.

We’re meeting with XF/Upgrade at Core show at the end of this month, this is on the list. Email if you’d like keeping in the loop – info@18bikes.co.uk

Roadlink is for a road setup.

Email me if you’d like more advice on it, we’re distributing the Roadlink in the UK

@dirtyrider are you importing the road link or is there now a uk supplier ? I want one bad since I saw it in the CTC mag.

We (18 Bikes) are selling the Lindarets range in the UK. Click for more info!

I got Prime as a student, which is well worth it. Not sure about full price.

Netflix is better imho, but that depends on what you prefer to watch. Prime is clearly set up to get you to buy the later series once you’ve watched a free one.

DT78 – I have the Sopranos box set that I’d be happy to sell on. simonbowns@me.com

it’s still a pretty unusual item, so I doubt you’ll find a dealer with stock.

If you struggle, give me a shout at the shop info@18bikes.co.uk and I’m sure we can help.

I bought the Aldi Islay last year (so it may have changed since) and it was more than worth the gamble.

Not with LHM you haven’t. Its perfectly compatible with the seals. I expect you’re thinking of DOT based fluids.

Nope, I’m definitely thinking of LHM/other Mineral oils.

Oops, wrong autofill login on the shop computer, sorry Matt!

    This type of extractor.

You wind the extractor in (anti clockwise) – it then brings out the axle as it bites.

No need to drill. We (18 Bikes) or most other shops should have reverse threaded extractors to remove this, pretty straightforward.

Ifttt (if this then that) is good for this sort of thing.

We (18 Bikes) have several Evoc bags available, if you can’t find anything more local. Might be worth the trip?

I’m heading there, with my shop hat on. There’s a fair mix of stalls, the ones who do best are the ones chatting and discussing things rather than just sitting waiting hopefully for a customer. I reckon around 50/50 between trade stands and public.

Our attitude is more jumble sale than anything. Taking old stock/odd sizes and pricing as proper bargains with the aim of selling almost everything.

Well worth a visit, but it’s much busier early on.

Hope still list them on their B2B site. Happy to order one (or a few) for you. 70p each.

Yep, it’s the mech+shifter that’d need to match. Roadlink indeed.

I had similar, with cramp right from the off on Simon Fell. Had to stop, stretch several times and still really struggled. I missed out PyG, so DNF for me.

Don’t feel too bad, you’re still in the top 500 in the world for that event ;-)

I’m in, having been on the reserve list – so only had 3 1/2 weeks notice instead of the 12 weeks training I managed last time. Still really looking forward to it.

Found a dropper post to borrow too!

We (18 Bikes) have a 5010 Carbon C Complete bike in, Medium/Black with S Build kit. Photos once it’s built.

    It doesn’t have a customer’s name on it (yet…)

I’d be surprised to see Heckler and SL stay in the lineup for much longer, but who knows?

I’ll be the first to say that I really don’t rate the Fox House, or the Dore Moor (same “Vintage Inns” ownership) Nice buildings, average food.

Cricket Inn is decent, gets busy at obvious times.

Broadfield further into town has the best pub grub imho. 5pm won’t be a trouble there I don’t think.

Yep, we’ve (18 Bikes) been fitting/including Sram chains with much success. I have a Shimano to try out, but out of curiosity more than anything. We’ve always preferred Sram chains, if only for Powerlink/Powerlock.

When in Spain, I downloaded Tunnelbear, which is a dead simple VPN app for iPhone. I don’t know if they offer similar for other OS?

I’m by no means a heavy player, but have been really impressed with Carbosticks over the years. Not a fan of the Ahead sticks, they sounded rubbish.

I’m slightly biased, but the Nissan Pao dash is ace. A good chunk of steel too, so easy to decorate with fridge magnets and the likes.

    Hammy,

We’re only a small shop, without the capacity/timing for keeping on top of too many products on the webshop, so we tend to stick to things we know will prove popular for our customers and that we’re able to keep on top of stock listings on the site.

We can, of course supply many parts that aren’t listed on the site. In the case of Shimano, assuming it’s in stock we would usually see delivery to us the following day – so not a long wait.

A quick email along the lines of “can you also supply a chainset/ring/bottom bracket” would have given this answer.

We’ve used the word “package” rather than “groupset” in order to avoid this confusion. All suggestions welcomed for an alternative word!

Exactly Squoglybob. V little demand for chainset, other than as part of a full build.

What don’t you like about the shifter? It feels sooooo nice in use.

As above, we’ve had excellent experience with Sram 11 speed chains, mostly the 1170. I’m running that myself, but will be trying a Shimano chain out of curiosity.

HammyUK – the majority of enquiries (before and after launch) on XT 1×11 have been from folks moving from an existing 1×10 setup, with a narrow/wide ring already. The package we sell will set them up easily for 1×11, other folks can choose to add a chainring and/or chainset should they choose. :-)
