I’ve been in the same predicament recently albeit my need is only occasional. I’ve decided that if I can’t afford something decent I’m not going to bother, I’ve also discovered this at Oxford station that I may make use of http://www.bromptondock.co.uk/

Put the 700c wheels on the Ransom

Been beaten to that by someone else

This has saved me asking the question. I only have two bikes, a Scott ransom full sus and a single speed cube hybrid commuter on 700cc wheels. I thought the later would probably be the better option?

If that jump is where I think it is it will probably be twice as big next time you get down there too

    Mighty Torque Wrench

I just bought one of these seemed like a good buy to me £37.24

This looks to be the same as the Giant one that I have

I have a similar noise on my hybrid which I’m sure comes from the metal spring which holds the 2 pads together

Just for completeness incase anyone else has the query. The sleeve has a cill at each end that sits against the bearing so you hit the sleeve from one side pushing out the first bearing, the second can then be hit form the other side. Bearings are 6805 – 2RS

I shall give the hammer a go then and I’m assuming once out I’m going to be able to find replacement bearings somewhere. Thanks

I do that route from BMW up to the roundabout at the top of banbury and down into summertown on my commute. Nice and quick only a couple of junctions to cross as said. Not so much a problem now clocks have gone back but the ring road isn’t lit fro certain sections so a good light is useful

No not that helpful  Looking for a less involved fix!

Just taken a look but seems they only cater for centre pivot wheels, my ’08 X9 has an offset upper wheel

I did the same, and got them on recommendations previously. Maybe I was a little too enthusiastic cleaning my bike

Sorry to put a dampner on it but I think you just aided a meths cook

I’m considering doing this on my commuter. No mud involved but sitting outside all day through the weather over the past year has really taken it’s toll on everything moving. Thinking single speed may give me a little less grief

I’m looking for a replacement kindle screen if anyone has one!

I’ve been through those photos, as you say they seem to mainly be from the sections near the beginning. I assume there was a different company doing the parts further away, unless they weren’t official?

I’ve been making sausages for a little while but still struggling to get a good texture, always seem very dry despite following recipes strictly. What sort of fat percentage do you use?

I had that same SRAM Chain which is now hanging from my xmas tree in star shaped decorations. I only just learnt that when a chain snaps you shouldn’t fix it with the standard pins and links, my chain had started snapping every ride, I kept fixing it this way and it would snap again. Only ever use powerlinks to join a chain apparently!

UKBIKESTORE are showing shell oil under the marzocchi oil

How did you go about charging the cartridge?

    Thanks for replies.

Onzadog – not as such, topped up oil with fork compressed, will look into that though

So If I wanted to achieve a slower rebound I need to use a heavier weight oil? That chart is useful although the figures are all over the place!

Not sure what else you can do apart from drop by there more often. Was the person seen coming out / going into anywhere in particular, or just randomly cycling through the area. One of my bikes I had stolen in Oxford was spotted locked up somewhere over a year later, I couldn’t get down to check it out that day and it was gone the next day. It turned up at the same place a week later though

Awesome day today, really enjoyed the track, brought a new perspective to how challenging it looked on TV. Off to re-watch some footage and shout “I did that!” Cheers Tom!

Update on this, got a new complete hub which was cheaper complete than the body on its own, freehub seemed good on the new one as expected. Replaced freehub body onto existing wheel and same problem still, not engaging instantly every time. Any suggestions? Didn’t really want to get involved in taking apart the whole wheel.

The soft and loose ground there really drains you quick, was great fun though and I have enough free mags to keep my toilet reading going till Christmas

I’m enjoying the show, but as mentioned it’s not quite as successful as it sets out. In the previous episode they were making a ‘cheese’ floor for it but in last nights show it was a timber floor, did I miss something on that or did the cheese fail miserably? Internally the walls look like it is clad in Plywood sheets too!

Cheers guys. I don’t have a GPS device so really was just after some routes to look at before I attempted a ride so I have some idea of direction. I’ll give this a bump when I know when I am over there, see if any guides are hanging about the hill!

I have a Scott Ransom which is a fairly heavy bike for the course considering there looks a fair amount of road sections, its the race at Blenheim Palace

Supposedly texts you as soon as the bike is moved and can then track where it is through google maps.

Sorry to hijack but quick question about garmin edge 800, should the map rotate around as you are cycling, so it is always facing the way you are going? Mate I go riding with took one out with us on Friday and the map always remained the same way up so was a pain navigating

If its a new laptop on windows 7 you should have the ‘Snipping Tool’ too which can take a screenshot and save it.

You are going to need to copy and paste them into some sort of image editing program first, like photoshop and then save them as jpgs

As said, make her wear good padded shorts and a comfy saddle if its offroad, maybe even a gel cover? I tried to get my other half into cycling without any of the above and she suffered for days after and hasn’t got back on a bike since
