We were in Holland in Easter and solely used electroverse app or electroverse RFID card and that was predominantly at slow chargers in small towns where we could leave overnight and then a couple of fast chargers which are way more frequent than here. Looking at our routes in France for summer hols and seems fast chargers lot further apart

We just did our first family trip abroad in the MG5 to Holland. Thought the charging infrastructure there was so much better than here, banks of fast chargers at most services (loads even had 2 areas from different suppliers) which were lot more frequently located that UK services. Most places we visited, public car parks even the most remote villages had public chargers (albeit slow). Most worked with the electroverse app and most of the pricing was half or at least a third cheaper than here, and Dutch roads are just pleasure to drive!

Can only talk for mac-ride but has been spot on for both my boys, it came with 2 stem adapters and I bought an extra so could move it between my MTBs and my road bike for when I was doing the commute and nursery drop off. When I got mine the options were mac ride or shotgun 2.0, then I think shotgun realised mac -ride was better so copied it for the pro version

We’re just in process of going electric with a low milage second hand mg5. We’ve moved onto octopus and got an intelligent tariff compatible charger being installed.

App wise what are the essentials, over last few pages I’ve seen

Zapmap for general chargers, route plotting

Electroverse to add charging costs to house bill

Tesla app for the all vehicle open sites

Shell for access to certain chargers (are these not usable otherwise?)

    Thanks

Hadn’t been asked for proof just didn’t want to be in a position if we had a claim and were asked for it. Current insurers will only issue a certificate saying 9+.

Have been rifling through filing cabinet and found an insurance certificate before ticking over into the 9+ category so reckon that would do as some sort of evidence, but like you say assume they have something somewhere to verify.

    Thanks

You can pick up mg mg5s for £18k now with ~18k miles. I just wish it had a better boot for an ‘estate’

We are 1 car plus a radwagon with 2 kids. Bike has replaced car in small-medium sized food shops, has meant more flexibility in who does school and nursery drop offs and pickups, not just who has the car. We strap kids bikes to it and ride somewhere, then they ride when we get there so we can go places different without them being knackered before we get there. Been great for us at addressing those moments where we’d previously said we could do with a second car

Has anyone considered the e-Berlingo/ rifter size vehicles? We are a 1 car family, with couple of kids and ideally want something bigger than our current hatchback to cover the usual family stuff of camping, bikes etc, but also be the daily drive. We test drove the MG 5 while back which just didn’t really seem to live up to the estate label boot wise. e-Berlingo seems next size up. Avoiding SUVs, range not great but would cover most usage and assume efficiency would be naff due to size. Anyone got one or considered and gone against for any reasons? Thanks

How’s Northampton holding up in the weather? Have been thinking about taking the 5yr old for a pootle on the easy stuff, worth an hour drive?

I’ve got an Awair Element, which is pretty good. Monitors C02, temp, humidity, VOCs, Pm2.5 as well. Has a display on the unit as well as connecting to app. You can export the data logging to excel if you want to get nerdy with it. Price has nearly doubled on them since I got mine though, COVID demand perhaps

My transaction disappeared from bank today, status on link from order confirmation still says order received but will assume that’s the end for me. So another one interested in any that are received but no longer wanted/needed

Had this issue but was my Bamboo. I had to dig mine up and put a barrier down. If you can’t convince the neighbours to do anything you could try putting a barrier down the boundary on your side but probably not very effective

We’re looking at estates and keen to make the jump to an ev. Went and tested the mg the other week, seemed pretty basic as new cars go but Price, boot space and roof rails (new long range version has usable ones) all ticked boxes. Do keep then wondering about plug in hybrids though, the Skoda’s are lot nicer more modern feeling cars but is hybrid half arsed? Whilst the short battery range would cover most shorter trips I could imagine getting lazy and not charging it, reverting to petrol all the time as it won’t be enough to change the way you approach journey’s in the same way I imagine an ev would

Bolts only connect to certain WiFi channels too. I found that my WiFi had switched to a channel above the bolt range which stopped auto syncing via WiFi for me

I had the black screen mark which slowly got worse. Contacted wahoo, they told me to do a ‘field destroy’ (take a hammer to it and send them a photo) and they sent me a brand new one, had original from when they were first released. So worth contacting them

Can anyone recommend straps for someone that basically never takes off their watch, I’ve found rubber straps moat robust but I do go through them quickly!

I’ve done it a couple of times and enjoy the event as a whole. skill levels vary a lot, the more fun ‘MTB’ sections which there aren’t that many of tend to get bunched up with less experienced riders stopping

I did similar but got some foam scooter grips from Halfords, cut to size then slid these onto handlebars in-between stem and shifters which work well. Also doubles up as an aerogrip position!

You get 2 spacers with the Mac ride, I got a spare too so regularly move seat between the full sus, fat bike or road bike for nursery runs in a few seconds. They are pricey but definitely worth it

I had an elemnt bolt purchased when they were first released which started showing black spots in corners recently. Emailed them a few weeks back with proof of purchase, they got me to destroy mine and send photos and then they sent me out a new one next day. Great service

I don’t mean to hijack but any suggestions for an Rc car for a 3 year old?! He’s big into farm stuff but a lot of the RC tractors are all AA battery powered which puts be off. Considering he’s 3 maybe something cheap is better but would prefer something that might last

I’m getting a leveret through work. Bit pricy without discount though.Pretty much cycle to work all year round and am lazy with maintenance through winter so interested to see how the belt drive compares

I found someone who was selling a load of left over bricks and mortar. Think they were originally from Vitcas, can be pricey. I cut the ones around the top in half to reduce how much space they took up

Don’t know if these photos will work but I made a small pizza oven and BBQ from an oil drum a while back so similar principle to what you have. I lined it with fire bricks. little tight on space so takes a bit or fire management but does the job. We get 5 or 6 pizzas out of it before needing to rebuild the fire and get heat into the base again

We are having a Howdens kitchen fitted as we speak and have used them through work for a few years. Just don’t accept the first quotes. I think someone else mentioned that they apply a ‘discount’ on each item in the quotation (not that you would ever pay their 100% price). On ours some items started at 45%-65%, after we had mentioned we were getting other quotes and still deciding the quote kept coming down each week. In the end our discounts ended up around 85% for a lot of it.

dangeourbrain – cable bobbins, would never have found that. looks quite a neat option, they aren’t cheap though!

Neilwheel – thanks for that link, £3.24 was closer to where i was aiming!

I get the 50% phone battery bug. Only thing for me so far would be the ability to pan around the map on screen rather than having to get phone out and do it in app

    Hi Ross,

We’ve already spoke over email and I just saw this thread. The chap mentioned who did the Gravel Dash is Rob who built a fat bike with BBC and I think helps out down there now. I did a Chilterns ride with him last year and we are looking to do another bamboo club ride on the South Downs later in the year…so get going and join us! I can put you in touch if you want. According to Strava I’ve got ~650miles on mine so far without any issues

Might go and check out those decathlon mounts at weekend. Although not sure how good the straps would be on a fork? Maybe replace the strap with a couple of hose pipe clips and some old inner tube to protect the paint

Hi Jamie, thanks for offer, what does not in a hurry translate too? As above hole isn’t needed and i’ll do this when I’ve offered it up on the bike. Which bit in particular unsettles you?!
