My mate had some scooter parts done at Triple-S, they did a good job.
Can’t do this Sunday, going to check it out Kielder before the Enduro thing, and next week I’m at a wedding.

I know a few 2 hour loops out of Bingley taking in Harden, Cullingworth, Wilsden, Cottingley.
There are a lot of bridleways but the best bits are cheeky.
I think SFB has the “Bingley Bash” route on the Bogtrotters site, but it doesn’t take in some of the best riding in the area.

I could meet up for a ride but not for a couple of weeks.

Good riding from the stations at Bingley, Saltaire and Ilkley.

Is it a proper van or a Multispace?

The majority of my riding is done from home or less than 30 mins drive from home. Only venture further than that 3 or 4 times a year.

Got a new one with a slight dent in it from a car boot sale around 6 years ago.
Lid broke off last year but got a free replacement out of Brabantia, even without a receipt.
Alright for £20 but not worth RRP or even £60

No (suspension) forks are fit and forget, but doing that every 15hrs sounds like a right PITA.

Puncture repair kit in case you get more than one puncture.
I also keep some part worn spare brake pads in my Camelbak.

    Start it at 99p.
People will bid it up to what it’s worth.

Had a nearly 3 year old Marin Rocky Ridge frame crack.
Showed it to the LBS where I bought it on Friday, replacement frame arrived the following Monday.
    I was very impressed.

    get a cat

We’ve got a cat. It brings live mice into the house and lets them go. Does the same with birds occasionally.

My complete bike, as built up in the photo above, weighs around 32lbs.

Mof what do you currently ride?

Here’s my 456. Climbs well with 130mm Revs, never feel the need to use the u-turn. Feels nimble in twisty singletrack and very stable on rocky technical stuff, and great fun when you point it downhill.
Best hardtail I’ve had so far, I reckon.

    >Any other nice living spots along with Burley? I’m sick of shoddy student houses and can’t wait to live somewhere ‘normal people’ are allowed to live.

It’s nice here in the Aire Valley, i.e. Bingley, Shipley, Saltaire, Baildon etc, Leeds is 20mins away on the train and there’s good riding on the doorstep.

We (SingletrAction) have permission to go back into Norwood and re-claim the trails lost during the felling, once work has finished, which should be soon.
It’s going to be a lot of work though.
I’d like to see rideable loop back in place for the summer.
We’re also hoping to get the go ahead to extend the trails in the future.

    >"btw I ride with the Singletraction lot on a Tuesday night. Fairly technical 2-3 hours check out the Singletraction forum under rides if you fancy joining us"

I forgot to mention our Tuesday night rides.
Starting from Bingley this coming Tuesday I think.

I know some rides in that area but no Memory Map etc to pass your way, it’s all in my head.
As mentioned above try the North Leeds lot, best to contact them through BikeMagic, http://www.bikemagic.com/forum/forummessages/mps/UTN/25485/URN/7/dt/4/srchdte/0/cp/1227/v/6/sp/

They ride on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Look at the “Dust wiper seal quick clean and lube”
    http://www.mojo.co.uk
Mojo/Fox recommend you do this after every 15 hours of riding.

Does anyone know why we still weigh bikes in pounds? :?

    Simon

    On-One 456 32lbs
    Mongoose Teocali Elite 33lbs
Both weighed at work on calibrated scales.

Too long to put in a backpack, and fairly heavy too.
The storage clip will only work on a hardtail.

Does such a thing exist? All I’ve seen are tow bars that lift the front wheel off the ground, I’m not sure if that’ll be a good idea.

    Why not a good idea?
We’ve got a Trailgator which works like that, no probelms with it.

IME Time pedal bearings last well, I’ve got some 2 and a bit year old Freeride Zs and the bearings are fine.

Top hole gives you 4.75″ of travel, and the lower one 5.75″
I’ve only ever used the longest setting.

    Here it is.

Rear shock is a Fox Float R, I’m around 13 stone and run it at around 160psi, any less and I get a lot of pedal strikes.
i2i is 190mm and 50mm stroke IIRC. Never really felt the need for lockout on it as it pedals without too much bob.

Stem is 70mm/6 degree with 25mm rise bars, with Fox Vanilla R 130mm forks, which gives a low front end which I like.

I got it secondhand as frame only a couple of years ago and built it up myself.
As well as the parts I’ve mentioned i’m running the following stuff, brake Xt, rear mech SLX, Sram Rocket shifters, wheels are XT hubs/Mavic XM321 rims/High Roller 2.35 tyres, a Kore I-beam post with SDG Bel Air saddle and Time Zs or DMR V8 pedals.
Weighs in at around 32lbs and doesn’t feel heavy when you’re riding it.
It rides really well. The only weak point is the 4 tiny bearings in the dog-bone linkage near the BB, they don’t last very long at all.

    I’ve got one, I think it’s an’05, it’s a yellow Elite.
What do you want to know?

Well, the lumen figures could be right or wrong who knows?
Lumens aren’t the whole story, reflectors and lenses make a difference.
But IMO for cheap, bright, simple lights halogen is still the way to go.

GW – I might try that, although the cable would probably need extending so that I could put the battery in may Camelbak.

Philips MR16 Masterline bulbs are more efficient and put out more light than Lumi MR11 bulbs for the same wattage.

    Simon

I got an Airbike SL1. And whilst it was very cheap and is bright, it really lacks penetration.
When travelling fast you soon run out of light.
Don’t get me wrong it’s great bar mounted flood light but I still use a helmet mounted halogen with it for fast or techy sections.
    Burn times are good too.

Make a lamp using a Philips masterline halogen bulb and hook it up to a pair of 7.2v NiMh radio controlled car batteries run in series to give 14.4v to overvolt the bulb.
Or buy one of these and use the battery as described above.
Very cheap, simple technology. Best lumens/£ I reckon.
Lumen figures are listed on that ebay listing I linked to.
I’ve been using one of those lamps with a 20w bulb (910 lumens) and it’s plenty bright enough and puts more expensive set-ups in the shade.

I had some stinky MP66 shoes. I put them through the washer and they’ve been fine since.
